Victoria lay in Alex’s arms, her body still trembling from waves of sensation she’d never experienced before. Twenty years of marriage, and she’d never known her body could respond like this.

"I didn’t know..." she whispered against his chest, tears streaming down her face. "I thought sothing was wrong with . That I was broken sohow."

Alex’s fingers traced gentle patterns on her bare shoulder. "You’re not broken, Victoria. You just needed soone who actually cared about making you feel good."

The words hit deeper than they should have. When was the last ti Jas had even tried to please her? When had he last looked at her with desire instead of distraction?

She tilted her head up, eting Alex’s intense gaze. The hunger was still there, burning between them like a live wire. Without thinking, she pressed her lips to his.

This kiss was different from theicontrol, less desperate, more exploratory. Like they had all the ti in the world to discover each other. Alex’s hands mapped the curves of her body with reverent attention, and Victoria felt herself lting into him again.

"Again?" she breathed against his mouth.

"As many tis as you want," he murmured back.

The second ti was slower, more intimate. Victoria let herself get lost in the sensations, in the way Alex whispered her na like a prayer. She’d forgotten what it felt like to be wanted, truly wanted, by soone who put her pleasure first.

Hours blurred together in a haze of soft touches and whispered confessions. Victoria told him things she’d never told anyone...her loneliness, her fears, her dreams she’d buried under years of responsibility. Alex listened, really listened, his hands never stopping their gentle exploration of her skin.

When exhaustion finally claid them, they fell asleep tangled in each other’s arms, Victoria’s head on his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.

Next Morning

Victoria woke slowly, awareness creeping in like sunrise. Warm arms around her. Unfamiliar weight against her side. The scent of a man who wasn’t her husband.

For a mont, she just lay there, letting herself enjoy the feeling of being held. Really held. Not the perfunctory good-morning kiss Jas gave her before rushing off to his office, but genuine intimacy.

Alex’s breathing was deep and even against her hair. She could feel his heartbeat under her palm. This was what she’d been missing all these years, this sense of connection, of being cherished.

Gradually, reality began to seep in. The expensive silk sheets beneath them. The family photo on her nightstand, carefully turned face-down soti during the night. The wedding ring still on her finger, now feeling heavy as lead.

But instead of panic, Victoria felt... peaceful. Like she’d finally co ho to herself.

"Good morning," Alex’s voice was husky with sleep as his arms tightened around her.

"Good morning," she replied, surprised by how natural it felt. No regret, no sha...just rightness.

Alex propped himself up on one elbow, studying her face. "How are you feeling?"

Victoria considered the question seriously. "Different," she said finally. "Like I’ve been sleepwalking for twenty years and just woke up."

He smiled, the expression transforming his already handso face. "Good different or bad different?"

"Good," she said without hesitation. "Definitely good."

They lay in comfortable silence for a while, fingers intertwined, neither wanting to break the spell. Victoria found herself morizing everything, the way morning light played across Alex’s features, the warmth of his skin, the safety she felt in his arms.

"We should probably talk about this," Alex said eventually, though he made no move to let her go.

Victoria nodded. "We should." But she didn’t want to. She wanted to stay in this bubble where nothing existed except the two of them.

"Do you regret it?" he asked quietly.

She looked into his eyes, those impossibly black eyes that had seen straight through all her defenses, and for a second, she hated how much she wanted to stay in that mont.

"No," she said firmly. "I should, but I don’t. Does that make a terrible person?"

"It makes you human," Alex replied. "Victoria, when’s the last ti Jas made you feel the way you felt last night?"

The question was like a knife through her chest. "Never," she whispered. "He’s never... we’ve never..."

"Then you didn’t betray anything real," Alex said gently. "You can’t cheat on soone who’s already emotionally checked out of your marriage."

Victoria knew he was right, but decades of conditioning were hard to shake. "What about Sophia? She’s my daughter, and you’re her..."

"Her casual boyfriend who she sees maybe twice a week when she’s not busy with her social dia career," Alex interrupted. "Victoria, when’s the last ti Sophia or anyone asked about your happiness? Your dreams? Your needs?"

Again, the answer was painful in its honesty. Never. Sophia saw her as an ATM and a safety net, nothing more.

"So what do we do now?" Victoria asked, surprising herself with how calm she sounded.

Alex’s thumb traced circles on the back of her hand. "What do you want to do?"

"I want to see you again," she admitted. "And again after that. I know it’s complicated, but Alex... I can’t go back to the way things were. Not after this."

Relief flickered across his features. "I was hoping you’d say that."

"But we have to be smart about it," Victoria continued, her CEO instincts kicking in. "If this gets out..."

"Business etings," Alex suggested. "I’m a startup founder, you’re a successful entrepreneur. Nothing unusual about ntorship sessions."

Victoria nodded thoughtfully. "My private office has a separate entrance. We could et there regularly. I could be advising you on your company’s growth strategy."

"Which, technically, wouldn’t even be a lie," Alex grinned. "I do have a business, and I could use your expertise."

They spent the next hour planning their arrangent with the sa attention to detail Victoria brought to her biggest deals. eting schedules, communication protocols, plausible cover stories. It felt surreal, plotting an affair like a business venture, but Victoria found the familiar structure comforting.

"No phones," she decided. "Too risky. We communicate through my private assistant, she’s been with for fifteen years and knows how to be discreet."

"And publicly?"

"You’re still dating Sophia as far as anyone knows. I’m still the dutiful wife. We maintain those roles perfectly."

Alex leaned over and kissed her softly. "And privately?"

Victoria’s breath caught as desire flared between them again. "Privately, you’re mine."

The possessiveness in her own voice surprised her, but Alex’s eyes darkened with approval.

"I like the sound of that," he murmured against her lips.

As they kissed again, Victoria felt the last of her resistance crumble. She was in too deep now, but for the first ti in years, she didn’t care about the consequences.

She was finally, truly alive.

"When can I see you again?" Victoria asked as Alex finally prepared to leave.

"Tomorrow afternoon," he promised. "Business eting to discuss market expansion strategies."

Victoria smiled, already counting the hours. "I’ll be waiting."

After he left through her private entrance, Victoria stayed in bed, staring at the ceiling with a smile she couldn’t suppress.

She was addicted now, to his touch, his attention, the way he made her feel like the most important person in the world.

And she’d never been happier to lose control.
