Zheng Lili, the owner of a four-story building in the urban village, was unattractive and idle, known as a "penny pincher." Despite making a decent inco from renting, he was single due to his unattractive looks and stinginess.

With no redeeming qualities and unwilling to spend money, naturally, no woman wanted to be with him. He wouldn’t even say a kind word, often appearing sowhat dull.

Despite his own issues, he blad won for being inconsiderate, vain, looking down on him for being poor, or shallow for only caring about looks and rejecting him.

Until six years ago, one evening, Hong Jiajia passed by. It was raining that day, and she slipped and fell, seeking help from Zheng Lili. When Zheng Lili looked back, he saw a fair, clean girl and, in a mont of impulse, took her ho. The girl talked, and he quickly learned she was from out of town, looking for a place to stay around there for work.

Zheng Lili imdiately said that he had rooms for rent and had a few vacant ones.

After seeing the empty rooms, Hong Jiajia felt they were okay but a bit expensive for her. Zheng Lili suddenly ntioned a cheaper option: the basent. In reality, the basent wasn’t for rent, and once he took Hong Jiajia there, he had no intention of letting her out.

Since he couldn’t find a wife, he decided to abduct one.

Hong Jiajia was from out of town; who would find her here?

After capturing her, he locked Hong Jiajia in the basent.

Soon after, he encountered another lonely person nad Tan Wan, a college girl seeking a part-ti job during the holidays and looking for a cheap place to stay. This ti, Zheng Lili easily lured her into the basent. However, Tan Wan had a fiercer temperant; her intense resistance led Zheng Lili to accidentally strangle her to death.

From then on, Hong Jiajia was utterly obedient to him.

Later, there were Sun Qing, Lin Xueran, and Chen Xinyue, all of whom were college students. Zheng Lili believed that if he were to kidnap, he might as well choose college students, as they were generally young, naive, and easily deceived.

Originally, Zheng Lili killed all but Hong Jiajia. Naturally, he also involved Hong Jiajia. Before demolition, he wrapped the bodies and tried to find opportunities to move them elsewhere.

After receiving compensation money and housing, he relocated them to a new house, where Hong Jiajia followed him like a walking corpse.

Investing his money, surprisingly, brought returns. As he rose to another level, he had more won and no longer needed to abduct them. Yet, Hong Jiajia remained his "Empress," managing the group of won. However, when the order collapsed, not all the won around him were there willingly.

Ah Chen finished the ga in just a few minutes.

She looked up, and the police were still busy. With reminders from Sun Qing and Lin Xueran, they were cautiously digging up Tan Wan’s remains.

Zheng Lili was already handcuffed and watched by two people.

Watching Tan Wan’s remains being uncovered, his face turned pale, clearly understanding there was no escape.

Feeling a gaze on him, he looked up, eting Ah Chen’s ghostly pale face, and jumped in fright: "A ghost! She’s a ghost, not a person! Why don’t you arrest her? She’ll harm others!"

All the officers, upon hearing this, couldn’t help but look at him.

She harms others?

How ridiculous; the real harm-doer was Zheng Lili.

Ah Chen handed her cell phone to Jiang Xiang, who put it in a clear bag. After removing his gloves, he unlocked his phone and handed it to her.

"It’ll take a while here," he said.

Ah Chen accepted the phone with a smile, not being polite.

With so many people watching, they couldn’t say much.

Ah Chen, however, opened the notepad and typed a few words: "Brother Jiang got promoted, congratulations."

Seeing the phone screen handed over to him, Jiang Xiang couldn’t help but smile. Knowing it was her, seeing "Brother Jiang" made his heart feel complete.

An officer ca to report the situation, and Ah Chen put away the phone. Planning to play a small ga, she found no gas on his phone. However, so social accounts had gas, so she went for a card ga.

Each round took about two or three minutes, not interrupting anything.

She tuned the volu down so low it was barely audible from a ter away. Yet, the officer reporting the situation caught so of the sound and couldn’t help but smile. But seeing her lifeless face, he felt a heavy heart again.

According to Sun Qing and Lin Xueran, the girl next to Captain Jiang was nad Chen Xinyue, who had been dead for over half a day after being killed by Zheng Lili. Shortly before, Zheng Lili forced Hong Jiajia to harm her, leading Chen Xinyue to suddenly "co to life" and prevent a potential tragedy.

She was the one who made the ergency call.

Based on her previous statents, along with those of Sun Qing and Lin Xueran, she was likely already deceased.

Ah Chen didn’t collapse at the scene but chose to sit and be escorted to the police station.

On the way, she talked with Jiang Xiang about her identity as Chen Xinyue and her week of captivity, and by the ti they finished talking, they had arrived at the station.

Jiang Xiang understood that once the statent was taken, she would leave, unsure of when they would et again.

"Soon," Ah Chen suddenly whispered upon entering the autopsy room. With the world stabilized and the world’s consciousness growing stronger, she received more information from the other side, indicating that her mission in this world was nearing completion.

Jiang Xiang was taken aback, then felt a sense of happiness.

Sun Qing and Lin Xueran initially wanted to see Chen Xinyue but were inford she had passed away and was currently in the autopsy room. They were allowed to see her once.

Without much hesitation, they went there imdiately.

Seeing the lifeless person, tears fell uncontrollably as they repeatedly thanked her. They paid their respects to Chen Xinyue’s body before leaving.

Exiting, they saw Hong Jiajia being brought over. She looked dazed, as if soulless. Upon seeing the person lying there, she suddenly broke into tears.

Once taken away from the autopsy room, she remained in a stupor.

An officer inford Sun Qing and Lin Xueran that Hong Jiajia suffered severe psychological trauma, leading to ntal instability, requiring treatnt, with an uncertain recovery.

The two sighed, understanding that anyone stuck in that place would lose their sanity.

Before they reached that place, Hong Jiajia had faced Zheng Lili for an extended period, constantly sharing space with a deceased person.

Had they been in Hong Jiajia’s shoes, they might not have endured as long.

Soon, Sun Qing and Lin Xueran’s families ca to take them ho, and both received psychological treatnt, with their school welcoming them back. Although the experience left an indelible scar, they were alive and had their lives ahead of them.

Tan Wan and Chen Xinyue’s families also brought them ho.

As for Zheng Lili, he inevitably received the punishnt he deserved.
