Shut Up, Malevolent Dragon! I Don’t Want to Have Any More Children With You Vol. 5 Ch. 88
In the quiet hours of the night, around 2 a.m., Leon, half-asleep and leaning against a tree, was roused by excited shouts from the forest.
“Dad! Teacher vis! We found the token!”
Leon quickly stood, blinking away the last traces of sleep, and turned toward the sound.
Noa and Helena were running toward them, wide grins on their faces. In Noa’s hand glead the coveted object of their test: the St. Heath’s Academy emblem token.
“Looks like my eldest daughter knows how to get things done,” Leon thought proudly, his chest swelling with paternal pride.
He glanced toward vis, who had been sitting silently on the other side of the campfire. Her serene expression suggested she had expected this outco all along.
“Teacher, we’ve completed the task!”
Noa handed the token to vis, who inspected it carefully before nodding in approval. She glanced at her tir stone.
“Well done. You managed it in about ten hours, which is an excellent ti compared to similar tests in previous years.”
vis patted both Noa and Helena on their heads.
“You two did wonderfully.”
“Thank you, Teacher!”
Helena giggled. “But honestly, Noa did most of the work! I almost fell asleep staring at the map half the ti.”
vis chuckled softly. “Teamwork is about every mber playing their part, Helena. Don’t sell yourself short.”
Leon, watching the scene, chid in, “Alright, let’s rest and eat sothing before heading back at sunrise.”
“Great idea!” Noa and Helena agreed in unison.
vis opened her bag, pulling out so neatly packed rations. To Leon’s astonishnt, the food looked far more appetizing than the roasted fish from earlier. Balanced portions of at, vegetables, and grains were laid out, clearly designed for nutrition and taste.
“This one’s for you, Noa, and this one’s for Helena. Heat them up, and they’ll be ready to eat,” vis instructed.
“Thank you, Teacher!”
Leon stared at the food enviously, his eye twitching. His mind raced with indignation.
NMD! WSM!
Why did Teacher vis bring perfectly good rations, yet earlier I had to eat fish that may or may not have swum through pollution?!
His internal complaints must have been written all over his face because vis noticed his expression and smiled knowingly.
“Here, Prince, this one’s yours,” she said, handing him another ration pack.
Leon perked up imdiately. “Oh? You even saved one for , huh? I guess I’ll forgive the earlier… fish situation.”
He opened the pack eagerly, only for his face to fall.
“Carrots? Why are there so many carrots?! This is a betrayal of trust!”
He froze, staring at the offensive orange vegetable like it was his mortal enemy.
“Dad, why aren’t you eating?” Noa asked innocently, tilting her head.
“Uncle Leon, you don’t like it? Do you not eat carrots?” Helena teased, her mischievous grin adding salt to the wound.
Leon stamred, “No, no, it’s not that…”
Just as he was ready to declare his distaste, vis intervened, holding out a different ration pack.
“Oops, my mistake. That one was mine. Here’s yours, Prince.”
Leon hesitated but swapped packs. Opening the new one cautiously, he blinked in surprise. Inside were slices of perfectly cooked steak, paired with mashed potatoes and greens. Not a single carrot in sight.
“Teacher vis… is there nothing you don’t think of?” he muttered, slightly embarrassed by his earlier assumptions.
vis smiled but didn’t reply, turning back to help Noa and Helena warm their food. The warm glow of the fire reflected on the trio as they chatted and laughed, their bond evident.
Leon sat quietly, watching them with an inscrutable expression. He eventually turned his gaze to the fire, lost in thought.
Two Weeks Later – Silver Dragon Sanctuary
In the grand hall of the Silver Dragon Sanctuary, Rosvisser set down her pen and looked at Leon.
“You’re going to visit vis’s old clan?”
Leon nodded. “Yes. She claims to be from the Black Moon Dragon Clan, but they were wiped out decades ago during the war. If that’s true, there shouldn’t be much left to see.”
“But sothing about her doesn’t add up,” Leon continued. “I can’t explain it, but there’s sothing in the details—little things—that feel off. If I can’t investigate her through normal channels, I’ll have to go there myself.”
Rosvisser’s silver eyes softened as she considered his words. After a mont, she nodded.
“Alright. I’ll go with you tomorrow.”
Leon blinked, surprised by her imdiate agreent.
“I trust your instincts,” Rosvisser said simply. “If you think there’s sothing wrong, I’ll be there to face it with you.”
Her determination was clear. As both a mother and queen, Rosvisser wasn’t about to let anything jeopardize their family.
The following morning, the two set out for the ruins of the Black Moon Dragon Clan’s territory.
The journey was quiet, Leon lost in thought for most of it. Rosvisser, understanding his temperant, refrained from breaking the silence. She knew her husband well enough to let him process his thoughts without interruption.
“Rosvisser…” Leon finally spoke, breaking the stillness.
“I’m listening,” she replied.
“I have a feeling… this is leading to sothing bigger,” he said, his tone serious.
“Sothing bigger than vis?” Rosvisser asked.
Leon nodded. “Much bigger.”
The wind swept through his dark hair as he gazed into the distance, his deep black eyes reflecting both resolve and the weight of the battles to co.
