Chapter 73: Fool, it has to be like this

After returning to the room, Leon found it eerily quiet inside. He tried softly calling out for Rosvitha, but there was no response.

“She’s fallen asleep so quickly,” Leon muttered to himself as he gently closed the door. He took off his shoes in the hallway and silently walked to the bedside, then carefully climbed into bed.

However, the waterbed was just too lively. As soon as he placed his hand on it, the entire bed tilted towards his side. Rosvitha’s foot under the blanket inadvertently touched the back of his hand.

Leon’s heart skipped a beat. Rosvitha’s foot always seed to stir up mories he’d rather forget. Swallowing nervously, Leon discreetly moved his hand away and slowly slid to the inner side of the waterbed.

Once he lay down, Leon breathed a sigh of relief. He covered himself with a corner of the blanket but still hesitated to fully burrow under it. If there were a dragon lying next to him, he would’ve been roasted long ago. Would he still be as submissive as he was now?

Leon turned his head to look at Rosvitha. The female dragon was already sound asleep, her breathing steady, and her sleeping face peaceful and beautiful.

In truth, Leon enjoyed watching Rosvitha sleep. She was beautiful. Even as his sworn enemy, Leon couldn’t help but acknowledge that fact. She was truly beautiful, like a person in a painting.

Especially on such silent nights, with a faint fragrance filling the room, the waterbed beneath her delicate body perfectly molding to her shape, and moonlight streaming in through the window, casting its glow upon her silver hair.

In this atmosphere of utmost serenity combined with her breathtaking beauty, even when seen at such close proximity, her flawless face showed no imperfections whatsoever.

For a mont, Leon found himself entranced.

Then—

Under the blanket covering Rosvitha’s chest, a faint purple light began to shimr.

Leon sensed trouble brewing and quickly averted his gaze, simultaneously taking deep breaths to calm his nerves.

“How does the saying go for the Three Honors and Three Shas of Dragon Slaying?”

“Uh… ”

“As, as honoring treason as an honor—no, that’s not right, as coveting beauty—no, that’s not it either!”

He clenched the bedsheet tightly, forcing himself not to dwell on these jumbled thoughts. But once the dragon mark reacted, it was like a rolling stone down a mountain, impossible to stop.

Leon felt heat spreading throughout his body, making it impossible to find a comfortable position.

“Uhh… mmm~~”

A vague whimper ca from Rosvitha beside him. Presumably, she was also affected by the dragon mark’s reaction.

Leon tightly shut his eyes, pretending nothing was amiss.

Rustling—

The sound of skin rubbing against the blanket, gently soothing Leon’s restless heart.

Unable to resist, he opened his eyes to sneak a glance at Rosvitha. He saw her slowly extending her arm from under the blanket, her chest rising and falling in a tantalizing rhythm.

And that faint purple glow…

It turned out to be a small purple ambient light, about the size of a finger. Leon was petrified on the spot, completely dumbfounded.

Damn deceitful mother dragon, playing tricks on again!

Rosvitha slowly opened her eyes, smiling at Leon. “Hey.”

“…Hey my foot! What’s the point of hiding a light bulb under the blanket?!” Leon exclaid.

“Is it bothering you if I hide a light?” Rosvitha retorted, placing the small ambient light on the nearby bedside table. “I found it in the toy rack just now and thought it would be fun to tease you with. But judging by your reaction just now…”

She lowered her gaze, then looked back up at Leon, eting his eyes. “You felt sothing for , didn’t you?”

Leon’s gaze shifted away, and he turned his back to Rosvitha. “No. I’m going to sleep. Don’t talk to .”

“Tsk.” Rosvitha pursed her lips, no longer teasing Leon.

After this little prank, the couple no longer felt as awkward as they did at the beginning. They both relaxed a bit. Rosvitha also turned to lie on her side, back to back with Leon.

However, she didn’t pull the blanket too far over, leaving so for Leon to avoid him catching a cold in the middle of the night. What if he caught a cold and passed it onto their daughter?

With these thoughts in mind, Rosvitha slowly closed her eyes. Sleep quickly engulfed both of them.

Yet, just as Rosvitha was about to drift off, she suddenly felt sothing on her shoulder. She groggily swatted it away. “What… if you need sothing, just say it, don’t touch .”

A faint voice ca from behind, “I didn’t touch you.”

“Who tapped my shoulder?” Rosvitha turned her head to look.

The next mont—

A startled scream, and the waterbed shook violently. Before Leon could react, he felt a surge of warmth and softness in his arms.

When he snapped out of it, Rosvitha had already curled up in his embrace, her hands tightly gripping his shoulders. Even her tail had erged, wrapping around his arm. The softness of her chest pressed against Leon’s waist, her legs curled up, trembling in his arms.

Her delicate fragrance, mixed with the subtle scent of shower gel, filled Leon’s senses, intoxicating him. Her heartbeat quickened, and her body temperature rose significantly, indicating she had been frightened by sothing.

Rosvitha held on tightly, and with her sensual lingerie and their bodies perfectly fitting together, Leon’s heartbeat involuntarily sped up too.

But seeing Rosvitha in such a panic, Leon didn’t have ti to enjoy or tease. He quickly asked, “What’s wrong? Why are you so scared?”

“T-there’s a spider…”

“A spider?” Leon followed her gaze.

Sure enough, there was a black, hairy spider on the pillow.

Leon rembered seeing a photo in the album today, where a young Rosvitha was scared and crying because of a spider.

Could it be that she still had a psychological shadow from that ti?

“It’s okay, I’ll get rid of it for you—hey, hey, calm down!”

As soon as Leon lowered his head, he saw Rosvitha gathering intense dragon flas in her hand—its magical purity seed even higher than when they sparred.

“I’m going to kill it,” Rosvitha declared, as if facing a formidable enemy.

“Hey, hey, hold on there, ancestor! This is a waterbed. If you unleash dragon flas, this room will turn into a sauna,” Leon quickly intervened, pressing down her wrist.

After a brief hesitation, Leon tried to comfort her by wrapping his arm around her shoulder and patting her back gently. “It’s okay, I’ll get rid of it now. Just calm down, okay? Don’t be afraid.”

Carefully releasing Rosvitha, Leon crawled over, pinched the spider, then opened the window and tossed it out. However, as he touched the spider, Leon felt sothing strange. It didn’t quite feel like the hairy texture of a spider… it was more like… rubber?

Wait, could this be another part of his sister’s design?

The thought sent shivers down Leon’s spine. Without dwelling on it further, he quickly closed the window.

“Alright, it’s gone now,” Leon reassured her.

Rosvitha pursed her lips, still feeling a bit shaken. After hesitating for a mont, she coquettishly said, “I’ll sleep on the inner side, and you sleep on the outer side.”

“No problem, you can sleep wherever you want.”

“Mm…”

Rosvitha tucked her tail away and nestled back into the covers, still feeling a bit unsettled.

Leon also lay back down, this ti fully burrowing himself under the covers.

He felt that Rosvitha might need soone closer to her right now. After lying for a while, Leon glanced at Rosvitha. She was staring straight at the ceiling, her eyes wide open.

She couldn’t understand how there could be a spider here. Rosvitha had always been afraid of these little creatures, finding their hairy bodies, legs, and eyes terrifying, even the thought of them described in words sent shivers down her spine.

This psychological shadow couldn’t be changed. Even with the long lifespan of the dragons, ti wouldn’t erase it.

Whenever Rosvitha was scared by spiders in the past, she would always go to Isabella for comfort. But now her sister wasn’t here.

“If you’re still scared, you can… hold my hand,” the man beside her said in a deep voice.

Rosvitha blinked slightly, then closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and slowly exhaled.

“Give it here.”

Leon hesitated, “What?”

“Your hand.”

“Oh, right, okay.”

There was a rustle under the blanket as Leon reached out his hand. Rosvitha also moved hers closer. But sothing seed… off?

Leon lifted the blanket and raised his hand, teasing, “How does holding just the pinky finger give you any sense of security?”

Rosvitha blushed slightly, “Then how should we hold—”

“Silly, like this.”

With that, Leon interlocked all five of his fingers with Rosvitha’s. Their fingers intertwined, and an instant sense of security flooded over them.

“Hey? I feel like you guys haven’t been rolling around hard enough these past few days. You’ve only managed to write this much.”
