Not long after their conversation ended, Leonard returned.
The mont he saw that Suzy was awake, relief and emotion flooded his face. He rushed to her side, checking her over again and again, asking if she felt dizzy, if she had any pain, if anything felt wrong.
Only after confirming repeatedly that she was truly fine did he finally relax.
Since Suzy’s recovery was remarkable, the doctor approved her discharge that very day.
Leonard and Suzy went ho first, while Adam returned to his company.
Leonard still wanted to stay ho to look after her, unwilling to leave her alone.
It took Suzy a great deal of persuasion—along with deliberately acting energetic and perfectly healthy—before he finally relented.
He did, in fact, have a lot of work waiting for him.
And... there was that matter that needed to be handled as soon as possible.
In the end, Leonard didn’t insist on staying. He went back to the company.
The mont he left, Suzy imdiately called a taxi back to the club to retrieve her own car. After that, she resud contacting suppliers and receiving deliveries.
By the ti she arrived at the warehouse, the second shipnt truck had already pulled in.
She deliberately wore a cap to cover the bandage on her forehead and kept a mask on, so no one noticed anything unusual.
This batch was from the supermarket supplier.
After confirming everything was correct, she stored it all into her space.
Next ca the delivery from the frozen at factory. For now, there were only these two shipnts.
Once everything was transferred into her space, the day’s deliveries were essentially complete.
Just as she was about to pack up and head ho, another call ca in.
It was yet another delivery—this ti the wholesale goods she had ordered online.
She had purchased a large quantity of clothing through a wholesale platform. Coincidentally, the factory was located near C City, only about two hours away.
They had shipped it in the morning and arrived that afternoon, imdiately calling her to arrange drop-off.
Suzy had the workers unload everything into the warehouse.
After confirming the order was accurate and waiting for the truck to leave, she stored all the clothes into her space as well.
Once she confird there were no more deliveries scheduled for the day, she hurried ho.
She absolutely could not let her uncle find out that she was running around outside while still technically injured—otherwise, she would never hear the end of his nagging.
When she got ho, Leonard hadn’t returned yet.
She sat on the sofa, staring blankly ahead—but in reality, she was using her spiritual awareness to inspect her space.
There were more and more supplies now, and the storage room inside her space was visibly shrinking.
She did a quick estimate.
Another shipnt was scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Once that was stored, the storage room would be nearly full.
Upgrading the space had beco urgent.
Otherwise, sooner or later, she would run out of room.
She had just finished thinking this through when she heard movent at the door. The beeping of the keypad lock rang through the room, followed by a click as the door opened.
The sharp tapping of high heels instantly told her who it was.
Sure enough, her so-called aunt had arrived again.
Monica walked in with her usual air of arrogance, scanning the living room. When she didn’t see Leonard, her gaze finally landed on Suzy.
"Where’s your uncle?" she demanded without even greeting her.
Suzy hadn’t expected her to have the nerve to co back here. Her psychological resilience was impressive—after doing sothing like that, she still dared to show up.
"He’s not here," Suzy replied flatly.
In truth, she wanted nothing more than to rush over and slap her.
But she also worried—what if Leonard still wasn’t thinking clearly? If she actually hit Monica and upset him, what then?
After a mont of internal struggle, she swallowed her anger.
As if on cue, Leonard returned.
Monica had clearly co looking for trouble. The mont she saw him, all her fury shifted toward him.
Her red lips curled, and she snapped sharply:
"Leonard Kale! Why did you suddenly freeze my card?! Do you have any idea how much trouble you caused by cutting it off without warning?!"
Her voice was shrill and cutting. She was furious.
Earlier, she had been shopping with her close friends, showing off as usual. She had even bragged that she would pay for everything that day.
She had basked in their envy... Until her card was declined at checkout.
The won in Monica’s circle all ca from similar backgrounds—comfortable, but hardly wealthy. Each of them dread of marrying up.
But only Monica had succeeded.
Leonard Kale was young, accomplished, handso, and incredibly generous. Most importantly, he doted on Monica and indulged her every whim.
The others were green with envy.
On the surface, they maintained a brittle, plastic friendship—but they had all been waiting for a mont like this.
That afternoon, several of the won had picked out the designer bags they wanted. Monica, basking in their admiration, had waved a hand grandly and pulled out her unlimited credit card.
She swiped it.
And it was declined.
The account was frozen.
In that instant, Monica felt humiliation burn through her. She blad Leonard entirely for this embarrassnt, furious that he had made her lose face.
But she had already boasted that she would cover everything. There was no way she could back down now. Especially not with her long-ti rival standing right there in the boutique.
So she gritted her teeth and paid with her own savings.
Hundreds of thousands vanished just like that.
It hurt.
She was so enraged that she skipped afternoon tea with her friends and rushed straight ho to confront Leonard.
And now...
Leonard rely glanced at her coldly and said in an even voice,
"So what if I froze it?"
Even Suzy was stunned.
Wow. Had her uncle finally grown a spine?
Monica froze.
In the past, whenever she threw a tantrum, Leonard would coax her patiently. Now, not only had he frozen her card, but he was speaking to her like this?
How dare he?
"Leonard Kale, do you even know what you’re saying? I’ll give you one chance—unfreeze my card imdiately. And as compensation, you’re taking to buy a house later. Otherwise, I won’t forgive you!"
Monica snapped back to herself, still radiating arrogance. Suzy was genuinely shocked by the audacity.
She really had no sha at all—taking and demanding more in the sa breath.
But what interested Suzy more was Leonard’s response.
Would he stay firm?
Or cave like before?
Leonard gave a short, mocking laugh. "Keep dreaming."
Suzy’s eyes lit up.
Finally!
Maybe there was hope for that hopeless romantic brain after all.
"Leonard!!" Monica trembled with rage.
She was used to seeing him placate her, lower himself for her, revolve around her.
Now that he wasn’t worshipping her anymore, she couldn’t accept it.
She pointed at him furiously.
"Who gave you permission to talk to like that? Leonard, if you dare treat this way, then we’re breaking up!"
She had brought out her trump card. In the past, the re ntion of "breaking up" had always worked. Every single ti, Leonard would compromise. Monica was certain it would work again. After all, she had saved his life once.
But this ti was different.
Leonard paused briefly.
Then said calmly, "Then let’s break up. There’s no reason for us to stay together."
His tone was utterly steady.
Truthfully, Leonard had long grown tired of Monica’s personality. He had endured it only because of his own good temper.
And more importantly––because she had once saved him. She had been both his savior and the woman he had idealized.
Gratitude and infatuation had tangled together, turning him into the ultimate fool in love.
But now?
That sa "savior" had tried to kill him. And nearly killed the only family he had left.
He would not forgive her.
Not this ti.
Monica still stood there, stunned.
"What did you just say?" she demanded. "Leonard Kale, I’ll give you one more chance. Say that again!"
