As she spoke, Suzy reached into the bag she had brought with her and took out two docunts she had prepared in advance.

George’s eyes lit up instantly, the surge of delight in his heart almost impossible to conceal. He forced himself to cough lightly, feigning composure. "Our Suzy really is sensible. I’m proud of you. darling."

He snatched up the agreent impatiently, his gaze greedily skimming over the clauses.

After giving it a cursory read and confirming there were no issues, he swiftly signed his na in the designated spot, afraid that if he hesitated even a second longer, Suzy might change her mind.

Once finished, he pushed the contract back toward her. "Suzy, sign it too. Hurry up."

Suzy nodded without batting an eye. She picked up the pen, but didn’t sign right away. Instead, she hesitated, lifting her face with a troubled expression.

Seeing this, George’s heart clenched. He hurriedly urged her on, "What’s wrong? Hurry up and sign. Everything is fine."

Suzy set the pen down and spoke softly, "Dad, Sis... I’ve already given you everything you asked for." But it turns out that I need to undergo surgery, and it’s going to cost a lot of money. Most of my funds are tied up in investnts right now—I can’t withdraw them imdiately... Could you lend three million first, just to get through this ergency?"

George frowned, a flash of displeasure crossing his eyes before he quickly suppressed it. "You’re out of money? Where did all your money go?!"

Suzy replied rather innocently, "I don’t have enough liquid cash right now. Don’t I still need to buy Tommy a car...? If not, maybe we can just forget about the car—"

"No!" The mont his sports car was ntioned, Tommy shot up from the sofa and shouted angrily. "Dad! You promised ! I have to get it! Whether she has money or not has nothing to do with !"

He pointed furiously at Suzy, as if she’d just severed his lifeline.

How could he not get the car?

He’d already bragged about it to everyone—if he didn’t get it now, wouldn’t he beco a complete joke?

Tommy’s yelling was giving George a headache. At the sa ti, he was afraid of upsetting Suzy. She hadn’t signed the agreent yet.

Suzy only wanted three million. Tommy’s car cost five million.

That money, of course, had to co from Suzy...

Wendy, sitting to the side, was also worried that George might push Suzy too far and ruin things for her as well.

She decided to speak up to smooth things over. "We’re family, Dad. You should just agree to Suzy’s request. After all, health is the most important thing."

George caught Wendy’s look and imdiately cald down. Compared to the massive fortune about to fall into his hands, three million was nothing.

He couldn’t afford to let such a small matter derail everything—nor could he give Suzy any excuse to back out.

He instantly put on the mask of a benevolent father and cut off Tommy’s shouting.

"That’s enough, Tommy! Why are you yelling? Your sister is thinking about the family, too."

Then he turned to Suzy, his tone magnanimous and indulgent.

"Suzy, Dad knows you’re a good, sensible girl. Here’s what we’ll do—buying the car is one thing, but Dad will transfer three million to you separately. Your health cos first. If it’s not enough, just tell , okay? Our family isn’t short on money."

As he spoke, clearly afraid Suzy might bring up canceling the car again, he imdiately took out his phone and started tapping.

Monts later, Suzy’s phone chid with a notification: Three million credited.

"Thank you, Dad," Suzy said, her face full of gratitude.

She then signed the agreent decisively and handed it back to George, forcing a calm smile to her lips.

Excitent flickered in his eyes as he took the contract, reading it over again and again. It wasn’t until Wendy tugged at his sleeve that he finally rembered the pendant.

He cleared his throat and said to Suzy, "Ahem... Suzy, didn’t you prepare the gold pendant for your sister, too? Where is it?"

Suzy lowered her eyes, concealing the flash of mockery that passed through them. She reached into her bag once more and took out a red velvet box.

"Sis, it’s for you," Suzy said with a docile smile.

Wendy’s gaze was glued to the velvet box in Suzy’s hands. She opened it eagerly—and inside lay a smooth, gleaming gold pendant.

To say her eyes lit up would be an understatent.

This was the space with the spiritual spring. Her greatest reliance in the upcoming apocalypse.

Her fingers brushed over the cool, round pendant, and the ecstasy in her eyes was impossible to hide.
