Chapter 157: Resonance Crystal
The beautiful Vice Dean’s sapphire eyes instantly snapped toward Seris.
"Ten thousand feet?"
She took a swift step forward, crossing the distance in an instant, stopping directly before Seris.
Her sapphire eyes scanned Seris from head to toe.
"What is your na, child?" She asked.
"S-Seris," Seris replied, her voice carrying a faint tremor. Standing before two Domain Master Realm experts and a half-step Domain Master was an overwhelming experience, even for soone who had grown accustod to standing beside Rhain.
The beautiful Vice Dean nodded.
She raised her right hand, and with a flash of spatial light, an object materialized in her palm.
It was a crystal.
A transparent, hexagonal crystal roughly the size of a human fist, perfectly cut like a piece of frozen starlight.
"Seris," she explained, "This is the Heavenly Physique Resonance Crystal, an artifact specifically designed to identify the existence and attribute of a True Heavenly Physique. We have only taken it out a handful of tis in the past century to test highly suspected prodigies... and not a single one of them ever managed to make it glow."
She held the crystal forward. "Place your hand on it."
She looked down at the transparent crystal.
She raised her delicate, snow-white hand and placed it gently against the surface of the hard hexagonal crystal.
For one second, nothing happened.
And then—
FLASH!
A blinding icy-blue light erupted from the crystal’s core.
Ice crystals began to form spontaneously in the atmosphere around Seris.
The beautiful Vice Dean’s sapphire eyes were blown wide open.
"It’s real..." she whispered with glistening eyes.
Suddenly, she grabbed Seris’s delicate shoulders with trembling hands.
"We finally have it! Gods have blessed us!" the beautiful Vice Dean cried out, her noble status entirely forgotten.
She looked at the freezing frost spreading across the ground, her eyes shining with absolute delight. "And it is an Ice Attribute! What a trendous, pleasant surprise!"
The beautiful Vice Dean looked directly into Seris’s bewildered eyes. "Seris! I want you to be my personal disciple!"
Fabian’s and Aldren’s expression shifted with visible surprise.
A personal disciple of the Vice Dean.
In the Stormveil Academy’s hierarchy, the Vice Dean stood second only to the Dean herself.
Her personal disciple would instantly inherit a status that towered above every other student in the institution even above the existing Core Palace prodigies.
Seris blinked her pale purple eyes as she felt overwheld by the beautiful Vice Dean’s intense reaction.
Instinctively, she turned her head back to look at Rhain standing quietly behind her.
When their eyes t, Rhain gave a small nod.
Seris turned back to the beautiful dean and bowed gracefully.
"I accept. Thank you, Master," Seris said respectfully.
"Wonderful!" The beautiful dean let out a radiant smile that completely transford her authoritative features into a warm face.
"My na is Myrielle. From today onward, you are my sole personal disciple!"
Vice Dean Myrielle patted Seris’s hands affectionately. "Do not worry about a single thing, my good disciple. I will personally provide you with all the resources you could ever need! I happen to possess a Mystic-Grade Martial Art perfectly suited for the Ice Attribute—I will impart it to you today! I will also supply you with all the Epic-Grade Pills, and Artifacts I can possibly manage! You will lack nothing!"
"Thank you, Master Myrielle," Seris replied, deeply moved by her new master’s care, and generosity.
Without further ceremony, she reached out and gently grasped Seris’s slender wrist. "Co! There is no ti to waste. I need to run a full diagnostic on your ridian structure and design a personalized cultivation plan before—"
She took a step forward, pulling Seris with her.
But as Myrielle tugged, Seris planted her feet.
She didn’t move an inch.
Vice Dean Myrielle stopped, looking back in confusion.
She found her newly accepted, peerless disciple looking stubbornly back toward the young man in dark robes.
"Ahem!"
At that exact mont, Fabian let out a loud, awkward cough.
"Vice Dean," Fabian spoke up, bowing apologetically. "This young man is Rhain. He is Seris’s husband."
The word husband visibly jolted Myrielle.
Her sapphire eyes widened a fraction as she stared at Rhain, then swiveled back to Seris.
"Husband?" Myrielle repeated, blinking rapidly. "You are already married? At this age?"
She had been so unimaginably excited after confirming the True Heavenly Physique that she had practically tuned out the rest of Valerius’s report, completely forgetting about the boy standing right there.
Seris’s cheeks flushed pink, and she gave a shy nod, "Yes, Master."
Myrielle’s expression shifted through several complex emotions in the span of a heartbeat, surprise, a flicker of sothing that might have been disappointnt at the complication, and then a resigned acceptance.
"I see." Myrielle released Seris’s wrist and turned to face Rhain directly.
Fabian continued, "During the recruitnt, the Origin Insight Tablet shattered the mont he channeled his essence into it. It was destroyed before any asurent could be taken. Additionally, he has fully awakened his Spiritual Sense while still at the peak of the Essence Condensation Realm, and the density of that Spiritual Sense exceeds anything I have ever encountered, even among Core Formation experts."
He took a breath.
"Rhain wishes to be granted the sa Core Palace status as his wife."
Myrielle listened to Fabian, and studied Rhain for a long mont with calculating gaze.
"Boy," Myrielle finally spoke again, "Co forward. Place your hand on the crystal as well."
Rhain calmly stepped forward, and placed his palm on the hard surface.
Every pair of eyes on the plaza locked onto the crystal.
Even Myrielle’s sapphire eyes narrowed with sharp focus
Given that this was Rhain’s re touch had shattered the ancient Origin Insight Tablet, the expectations were practically soaring into the skies.
Could it be? Another True Heavenly Physique?
Two of them appearing on the exact sa day, from the exact sa remote Outer Frontier?
If that were true, it would be a heaven-defying miracle that would etched on the history of the Solathane Dynasty with golden letters.
Beside them, Seris clasped her small, snow-white hands together. Her pale purple eyes sparkled with intense, eager anticipation.
She knew better than anyone just how unfathomable her husband’s strength truly was.
She genuinely hoped the crystal would light up even brighter than hers, proving to these high-and-mighty Inner Province experts that her husband was a peerless monster worthy of the utmost respect.
One second passed.
Two seconds.
Three seconds.
The transparent, hexagonal crystal resting in Rhain’s palm remained entirely dull, and unchanged.
Myrielle shook her head, a clear look of disappointnt flashing across her beautiful face.
She waited a full thirty seconds, far longer than necessary, before gently reaching forward and lifting the crystal from Rhain’s palm.
"It seems we expected too much," Myrielle said, her tone returning to its usual authoritative calmness. "This Heavenly Physique Resonance Crystal is forged to resonate exclusively with the unique essence signature of a True Heavenly Physique. Its accuracy has never once been questioned in the thousand years since its creation."
She looked at Rhain, her expression not unkind, but frank.
"Because the crystal remained entirely unchanged, it ans that you do not possess a True Heavenly Physique like Seris."
The mont those words dropped, Seris’s expression changed drastically.
"That’s impossible!" Seris protested imdiately, "Master, the crystal must be flawed! My husband is far stronger and talented than I am! If anyone possesses a heaven-defying talent, it is him!"
Myrielle looked at her newly accepted disciple’s fierce, protective glare and let out a helpless smile.
"Seris, I understand your feelings," Myrielle said gently, adopting the patient tone of a master guiding a naive student. "But this artifact does not lie. If it were truly flawed, it would not have responded to your Ice Attribute just monts ago."
She shifted her gaze back to Rhain, evaluating his calm deanor. "He has an exceptionally vast Spiritual Sense, and from Preceptor Fabian’s report, he clearly possesses impressive combat strength. But strength and innate talent are two entirely different concepts."
Myrielle shook her head slowly. "He might be stronger than you right now, Seris. But that does not an he necessarily possesses the innate talent like you of a True Heavenly Physique. As you both progress into higher realms, the unbridgeable gap in your innate talents will naturally reveal itself."
Fabian also sighed inwardly. He had truly hoped for another miracle.
But amidst the disappointnt, the person in question remained entirely unaffected.
Rhain’s dark grey eyes didn’t show a single ripple of embarrassnt, disappointnt, or anger.
He looked directly into Vice Dean Myrielle’s sapphire eyes, completely unbothered by her Domain Master pressure as he asked calmly.
"Can I be a Core Palace Disciple or not?"
