Arriving at Terminal 2 and passing through the entrance check, it was already four-thirty in the afternoon.

The two of them ca to the dostic arrivals exit on the first floor, where quite a few people had already gathered to pick up passengers. Chen Zhiyu pulled Gu Ji to the front.

About ten minutes later, the flight from Jingzhou finally landed, and passengers lined up with their suitcases as they erged from the exit.

"Godmother! Over here~"

Chen Zhiyu imdiately recognized Gu Ji’s mother, Dong Ying, in the crowd and waved excitedly.

Like her, Dong Ying also had short hair and wore a green bean-colored blouse. Though she was forty, frequent exercise kept her in great shape. She walked with a sharp and confident deanor.

Gu Ji’s father, Gu Jian, was quite the opposite. He looked like an intellectual, very easygoing, in a gray casual shirt, slender, and resembled Zhang Yi a bit.

Beside him was a middle-aged man with so gray in his sideburns, wearing round black-rimd glasses, who was Chen Zhiyu’s father, Chen Hongsheng.

Upon hearing the call, the three quickened their pace and walked out.

Chen Zhiyu first glanced at her own dad, then dashed into Dong Ying’s arms, acting coy, "Godmother, I missed you~"

"Haven’t seen you for six months, Xiaoyu has beco prettier, and your studies are still excellent. Old Chen, your daughter is truly outstanding!"

Dong Ying affectionately patted Chen Zhiyu’s head and praised her.

Chen Hongsheng smiled, "Your Gu Ji is not bad either, tall and handso."

"Him? All he knows is playing all the ti..."

Dong Ying was just about to scold Gu Ji but stopped midway, her face suddenly changed as she scrutinized him from head to toe as if he were a suspect, "Gu Ji, have you been up to no good recently?"

"Mom, what could I possibly do wrong?"

His mom’s gaze was as sharp as a knife, but Gu Ji’s face remained calm and composed.

Inwardly, however, he couldn’t help but admire:

As expected of an old criminal investigator, her detective skills are sharp.

He knew his mom must have seen sothing in his eyes. After all, having just gone through an airport attack case, he’d experienced the "big waves," especially after the ga mirrored reality, and he’d actually shot down the attacker, so he was no longer the naive youngster he once was.

Gu Ji had heard from his fellow forensic students that a killer’s eyes were different from those of normal people, as if they wanted to take sothing from you. The more they killed, the emptier their eyes beca, accustod to the cold indifference of the world like a moonless night, gray and gloomy.

Though he wasn’t killing out of cri, his gaze undoubtedly changed sowhat.

Dong Ying’s pupils slightly contracted, but she said nothing.

"Godmother, Gu Ji really hasn’t done anything bad, at the most..."

Unexpectedly, Chen Zhiyu spoke up for him, but the latter half was whispered into Dong Ying’s ear.

But indeed, his mom’s expression softened, and with an indescribable aning, she gave him a glance.

Gu Ji raised an eyebrow.

In his heart, he felt a bit odd, wondering if that girl said sothing bad about him again?

"Alright, enough talking, it’s been six months since we’ve seen our son."

In the end, Gu Jian ca to his rescue, patting Gu Ji’s shoulder, "Let’s find a place to eat first. Your Uncle Chen and I haven’t had a bite since we got off work from the company!"

Back when Gu Ji was in middle school, an accident occurred at the 306 Technology Research Institute where his father worked, leading him to leave the unit and join the current dical technology company with Chen Hongsheng. Though the earnings were much higher than in the state enterprise, the work was busier, with frequent overti and business trips, making their gatherings rare.

Therefore, it was a delightful surprise that they could take ti off today to attend his graduation ceremony.

He quickly arranged for the pickup car, and after dining near the school in the evening, set up accommodations for his parents and the others at a nearby hotel.

Next day.

The weather in Ningzhou was nice today, with blue skies, white clouds, and bright sunshine. Though it was hot, it couldn’t hide the excitent and thrill on the students’ faces.

Because today was graduation day.

Early in the morning, Gu Ji busied himself, putting on the police uniform he hadn’t worn in a long ti.

He stood before the dressing mirror, looking at the azure shirt, dark blue jacket, and silver epaulets, which indeed added a lot of dignified and stately aura to him. His sharp brows slightly arched, his gaze held not only fierceness but also a hint of aggressiveness.

Suddenly, his phone rang, and Gu Ji took a look and imdiately answered, "Mom, I’ll be down shortly."

"Your mom’s here?"

Gao Bo tidied up his collar, "Perfect timing, I’ll go with you. Haven’t seen Auntie in a while."

During winter and sumr breaks, Gao Bo often went to Jingzhou to hang out with him, so he knew his parents well.

Downstairs, his parents were chatting with other graduates around.

"Hello, Uncle."

Gao Bo grinned and warmly greeted, "Auntie... Wow, long ti no see, Auntie looks so much younger and prettier; I almost didn’t recognize you."

Dong Ying smiled, "Gu Ji, learn from Gao Bo. He’s polite with a sweet mouth!"

"Mom, that’s not a sweet mouth, he just likes people..."

"Likes what?"

"Uh... nothing!"

Seeing Gao Bo’s wide-open eyes, Gu Ji realized he almost misspoke.

In the morning, the school arranged for each faculty to take graduation photos on a rotating basis, concluding with a large group photo. Before noon, the school leaders held a brief graduation speech conference, and the rest of the ti was free.

Seizing the opportunity, Gu Ji took pictures with his roommates, teachers, and so good classmates and friends, and took his parents to check in at a few iconic sites around the police academy.

By the afternoon, the sports field began to bustle.

mbers of the student council and staff started moving various equipnt and sound systems, building the stage for the evening graduation ceremony, as an outdoor drill was involved, attracting many viewers, making the sports field the best choice.

By just before 4 PM, the surrounding stands were filled with juniors curious about the event.

Gu Ji arranged seats for his parents and the others, then went with Chen Zhiyu to find Mr. Fang, their instructor.

Behind the stage, many students prepared for performances were in a temporary red tent, doing makeup and practicing lines.

In a dark blue tent on one side, Mr. Fang, with slicked-back hair, was instructing the SWAT students participating in the first round of drills.

Seeing Gu Ji, Gao Bo quickly called out, pointing to the large bus parked by the roadside and a custom blue-black Ford F550 parallel-import assault vehicle, marveling, "Did you see that? Oh my, the school really pulled out all the stops this ti, bringing out all the good stuff!"

"Indeed, the school is counting on this drill to shine. I heard our instructor, Mr. Fang, saying not only are the city bureau’s big leaders coming, but also the captain of the SWAT team and the Dragon and Tiger Assault Team are here to observe!"

Li Zongxuan said in a low voice.

"Then we’ve got to really put on a good show."
