Everyone was exhausted from a long day, so when they heard they could sleep in, they cheered excitedly.

"Alright, alright, calm down a bit, let’s check all your equipnt one last ti to see if there’s anything missing or damaged."

Zhang Wenjun spoke while subtly observing Gu Ji.

The two-and-a-half-hour drive, during which this kid was deep in thought for almost 90% of the ti, indicates that he too realized this arrest operation was sowhat special.

"Gu Ji, how’s the wound?"

"Got three stitches, maybe the anesthetic hasn’t worn off yet. I don’t feel much now."

"You’re pretty skilled. If it had been soone else on the team, there might have been more severe consequences. I noticed your shooting stance during the mountain search was a bit different from your police training days. What, have you been studying new tactical moves recently?"

Gu Ji, who had been pondering Jian Na’s mother’s situation, hadn’t intended to respond seriously until Zhang Wenjun called him, but the last sentence imdiately snapped him back to attention.

The two locked eyes, and Gu Ji calmly replied, "Since the Xiangzhou exchange eting, I’ve realized that the police force’s ability to quickly respond to high-risk incidents doesn’t quite match up to that of military units, so I’ve watched several training videos of dostic and foreign military tactical teams."

"I see, that’s a good thing, but you need to be mindful of the thods. Military operations and national law are different; many military tactics may not fully apply to urban counter-terrorism."

"Zhang Zhong, are you saying my last move was a bit over the top? I just..."

"Sun Hengfei is naturally cruel, especially skilled in close-range cold weapon combat. Your actions at the ti are completely understandable. Don’t overthink it. Go back and rest well."

"Right, Zhang Zhong is right, Gu Ji, don’t stress yourself out."

Despite Zhang Wenjun’s reassuring words and the interjection from colleagues, Gu Ji still keenly sensed that they were hinting at him.

This wasn’t out of malice.

On the contrary, he knew Zhang Wenjun hoped he’d avoid crossing the line on key issues. Getting marked or writing a review was trivial; true trouble would an losing the police uniform!

Upon returning to the Ningjiang District SWAT unit, everyone returned their gear at the armory, then handed over their law enforcent recorders and other police equipnt to the duty command room.

"Zhang Zhong, should we head ho now?"

"You’ve all worked hard today, go on ho."

After saying goodbye to the others, Zhang Wenjun didn’t head straight ho but instead pulled out keys from his pocket, got into an SUV police car, and drove towards the Wuyue Province Hall.

He arrived at the Provincial Public Security Departnt’s entrance at 1:30 AM.

A significant part of the building was still lit, filled with night-duty team leaders and their officers, handling nightti case investigations and ergencies, with one wing of five windows lighting up a row, which was the "brain" of their operation: the Provincial Public Security Departnt Command Center!

Zhang Wenjun parked the car in the lot then jogged up to an office at the far side of the third floor and knocked on the door.

"Enter."

Hearing the familiar deep voice from inside, Zhang Wenjun cheerfully entered a massive office area, at its center a large screen composed of multiple LED televisions, which not only connected to the Wuyue Traffic Command Center, showcasing caras from highways and roads across cities and counties but also transmitted live footage from police action sites via 5G law enforcent recorders to the command center.

Four rows of long desks below were occupied by several technicians typing away on computers, seemingly conducting big-data analysis, extracting case cri information, intelligence, and so forth.

With the capture operation concluded, the provincial departnt leaders and Deputy Director Wei Yu Country had already left, leaving only Li Ruilin standing before the command center’s large screen, accompanied by a thirty-sothing SWAT officer with defined features and deep-set eyes, none other than the pride of Ningzhou’s SWAT, personally trained by him: Lei Wanshan.

"Have they all left?"

"Yes, they have, Mr. Li, Mr. Lei."

"How’s Gu Ji’s injury?"

"The doctor said there’s no major issue, got three stitches. I told him to rest for a day, then rejoin the team tomorrow to write a report."

Zhang Wenjun spoke jovially but internally wondered why this old fox never concerned himself about him, having put so much effort into looking after these two young lads for the old guy’s sake.

To think he was perplexed when receiving cross-regional operation docunts from the squad back then.

They were a special patrol unit, not frontline SWAT, yet Li Ruilin treated them like an assault team. The scene today would’ve gotten ssy without the police force, firepower suppression, and Gu Ji’s quick reflexes and good skills!

"I reviewed the action footage on-site. This kid perford outstandingly, just on par with frontline assault team elites."

"The most vital aspect is leadership, as Gu Ji’s field command experience is very rich, nowhere near a green rookie of just months on the job. When capturing Sun Hengfei, he was the first officer to sense sothing wrong and promptly seized the squad’s command authority from . His presence was formidable, commands precise, giving the impression that he was the captain instead."

Listening to the description, Li Ruilin didn’t rush to speak.

On the side, however, Lei Wanshan scrutinized Gu Ji’s image on the screen with sharp eyes and comnted in an even tone:

"This kid’s gaze remains exceptionally calm during operations, with quick thinking, a natural leader, though sowhat lacking in overall situational awareness. His tactics show signs of learning from Xiangzhou and NATO military units, indicating the Xiangzhou exchange conference greatly inspired him."
