"Well, anyway, moving on from that...let’s check out this pocket dinsion," I suggested, a sense of anticipation welling up.
"I don’t have a problem with it. You, Kai?"
"Nah, that works fine. Alright, then...," I chanted, sitting up by the edge of the bed.
A vertical, rectangular portal opened up, about the size of a doorway, in front of us. It’s a lot longer and wider than the usual portals into the slots of Treasury.
"Co on, let’s go!" Grinned Aria, grabbing my arm and pulling onto my feet as she hopped off the bed, before dragging into the portal.
"Slow down, it isn’t going anywhere, you know," I replied with a wry smile, before pausing and glancing around as we entered the space.
Wow. This is aweso!
It was a large, wide space with a high ceiling, like an auditorium. The entire area was black with a dim, ethereal glow, it reminds a little bit of the void I found myself in during my final conversation with Vaszel.
In the middle of the space by one of the walls, was a huge bed, and on the wall right across it, was a massive screen.
Aria bounded over towards the bed and flopped onto it, bouncing a couple of tis before rolling around with a grin.
"Holy shit, this is incredibly comfy! Get over here, Kai!" She called out, patting the bed.
"Don’t mind if I do," I smiled, walking over and hopping on, the bed sinking under my weight before springing back up.
Wow, this really is comfy, I feel like I could just lt into this and drift off in no ti.
"Nice, it’s like our own personal ho theater, huh?" Responded Aria with a giddy smile.
"Well, I don’t know about that, we’ll probably lose our minds at so point if we stay here indefinitely. Still, though, this is so cool!" Grinned Aria, a bright gleam in her eyes.
"Yeah, this is incredible, Ai. How exactly did you even pull this off?"
"Huh, maybe it really does have sothing to do with that void," I mused thoughtfully.
"Hm? What void?" Aria asked .
Oh, right. I forgot to ntion that, my final encounter with Vaszel.
"Well, after I consud the Demon Lord, my consciousness t with his in a strange, endless void. According to Ai, my consciousness seed to have disappeared for just a split second, but to , that was about, like, five to ten minutes, I think, I had a whole conversation with the guy," I inford her.
"Huh, I see. What did the Demon Lord have to say? Bet he threw a tantrum," Responded Aria with a wry smile.
"No, not at all...he was annoyingly calm and wistful. I even tried taunting him to get a reaction, but it didn’t work. He simply accepted his defeat and faded away," I recalled with a sigh.
"Seriously? Yeah, that does sound pretty annoying. Well, at least he’s dead now," She replied with a slight huff.
"Yeah...huh, you know what I just realized? It’s barely been two years since we graduated from the Academy. Our graduation was at the end of 2168, and we’re still in the middle of January of 2171. We’ve only been Hunters for two years and a couple of weeks. So much has happened that it definitely doesn’t feel like it’s only been two years."
"Yeah, now that you ntion it, it really hasn’t been that long, has it? I wonder, what will we do next? If the Monsters really are gone for good, raids are going to be a thing of the past...along with Hunters.
I an, we’ve both made enough money to last us several lifetis, which we’ll probably need since we’re immortal and all, and while it definitely is a good thing that the war is finally over, I just...I don’t know, it feels kinda bittersweet," She sighed wistfully.
"I think I know what you an, things are probably going to change pretty drastically in the coming future. Well, we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. For now, let’s just take it easy and occupy ourselves with doing absolutely nothing productive," I suggested with a grin.
Aria paused for a mont, before she suddenly hopped onto with a gleam in her eyes, grabbing my wrists and pinning against the bed.
"I can think of a few things we can do...for starters, maybe we should go ahead and break in this new bed of ours?" She suggested in a low, seductive whisper.
"Hm...yeah, I think I can manage that," I nodded with a smirk, as she leaned down towards ...
