"Did you notice any problems?"
Kreya hurried to Kane’s side and asked him.
In response to Kreya’s question, Kane nodded and asked them, "Have you noticed sothing strange about this village where these people died?"
"Strange? What’s strange about it?" At this mont, Longbei was sitting on Cotton Candy, floating beside Kane and the others.
Kane thought for a mont and decided to ask them a different question.
"If you were villagers here, what would your reaction be when you knew demons were attacking?"
"Run, of course! How could ordinary people possibly be a match for demons?" Longbei answered imdiately.
At this ti, Kreya suddenly remarked, "But the bloodstains in the village and the places where the pieces of at are found are almost all inside the village.
Most are on the streets, in those intact houses there’s none, and there’s not a trace of blood in the surrounding areas of the village."
"But doesn’t that only an no one managed to escape?" Longbei seed puzzled.
"In this situation, most people would huddle together for warmth, and when there are enough people, there would always be a few brave ones who’d go up and fight the demons. Yet, the bloodstains are scattered everywhere."
Then Kane raised a finger and said, "The range of this village being burned down is much smaller compared to the two villages we’ve seen earlier. The fire spread from the center and the edge, but only on one side. These soldiers didn’t have the ability to put out the fire; it stopped on its own."
"So that ans they left in a hurry, unable to set fire to completely burn the village down, possibly because those patrols discovered the situation here."
Upon hearing Kane’s explanation, Kreya seed to have an epiphany, and said this in response.
Longbei seed to have understood as well, and slapped his forehead, saying, "With demons’ nature, how could they just run away when seeing people, and burn the village down so hastily.
They’d wish to eradicate all humans they could see, turn these villages to ashes before stopping."
"If they feared not being able to defeat these soldiers, then with their power, they couldn’t let even a single villager escape the village’s territory," Kane stated.
Kane began explaining to his team the answers he could think of now: "These demons are much more rational compared to those we t before; they seem afraid of revealing their identities.
As for their strength, it’s difficult to assess as they appear to have suddenly appeared in this village, quickly killing those who resist, then intimidating and taking the remaining villagers away."
After finishing, Kane thought for a mont and then said to Yoyo beside him, "Project the map of this area."
Everyone gazed at the map floating in the air.
Kane enlarged the map of the village they had just been at, pointing to the upper right corner of the village, saying, "The fire spread from this direction, they probably intended to start from the center and set fire sequentially towards the periphery.
But were discovered by patrols, then hurriedly left, finally throwing another fire when leaving the village."
Although Kane’s simple reasoning might not be correct, for now, they could only think this way, as these are the only pieces of information available.
Then Kane started dragging the map towards the upper right direction of the village.
Not far from this village was another village called Poland Village, and further on, another village.
Wait.
Kane suddenly realized sothing was off because the further village was the first destroyed place they had gone to.
He quickly enlarged the map to look at the second destroyed village.
Even though this village was far from Poland Village, there were no other human settlents along the way, the only obstacle was a small forest.
Seeing Kane’s expression, Kreya asked, "What’s wrong? Did you discover sothing again?"
He didn’t speak but enlarged the map and faced everyone, then drew three straight lines from the three destroyed villages towards Poland Village.
From this, one could see there were no obstacles between Poland Village and the three destroyed villages, the only issue was the distance.
Kreya and the others instantly grasped Kane’s aning, from this perspective, this village indeed had too many coincidences.
It happened to connect with the other three villages, and it happened to be in the direction of the fire spreading from the third village.
No matter how you look at it, this village seems very suspicious.
Kane mounted his horse and called his teammates: "Let’s go and have a look at this village, be careful not to show hostility."
Once everyone was ready, Yoyo began leading the way for them.
Under fast horses, soon enough Kane and the others saw Poland Village in the distance.
It was afternoon, and wisps of smoke were rising from the village, plenty of farrs and a rchant caravan could be seen coming and going.
When Kane and his team approached, they noticed there were even two sentry towers on the outskirts of the village, with several Sentinels standing guard.
This ti Kane didn’t have his whole team act together, having iketsu scout the outskirts, while Longbei protected him and kept watch around.
He had izike place an Eye of Magic Power beneath Cotton Candy, floating above Kane and the others.
Then Kane went inside with Kreya and Lilulu to investigate.
The militia on the sentry tower saw Kane and the others but didn’t pay them much mind, apparently used to their presence.
When Kane and the others arrived at the village entrance, a militia mber approached in a flattery manner and asked, "What brings you to our village, honored ones?"
"Nothing much, just a routine patrol, carry on with your business,"
"Thank you, honored ones, I won’t disturb you any further then."
As they walked into the village, Kane activated his Martial Intuition fully, and his eyes turned into Eagle Eyes.
This village didn’t seem to have anything peculiar, won doing house chores, n after labor, and children running back and forth in the village.
While wandering around the village, Kane suddenly slled a faint scent of blood and looked in the direction it was coming from.
There seed to be a slaughterhouse there, and at the entrance, a butcher was selling so unknown at.
Kane went over and asked, "Boss, what kind of at do you have here?"
The butcher looked up at Kane without any odd reaction and pointed with a knife to the ats on the board, item by item.
"This is wild boar at, this is deer at that we hunted just this morning, and that one is lamb from our own farm. Would you like a piece?"
"No, thank you," Kane said and left.
