Now reading: Chapter 437 - 408: Recruiting Soldiers from Skill Extraction: Exploring Dungeons, a Game novel by Drink Coke.

Kane stood in the military camp, watching the two veteran soldiers leave.

His understanding of this world was gradually forming, but he couldn’t jump to conclusions yet. He needed to first check out the recruitnt area to see how the process of recruiting soldiers worked.

"Let’s head to the recruitnt area first and see how the recruitnt of soldiers is going," Kane turned his head and asked his teammates.

"Sure."

"No problem at all."

If anything, they were also quite eager.

Hearing his teammates’ words, Kane nodded, and with them, retraced their steps to the recruitnt area they had just passed.

Retracing their steps, the nearest to them was the cavalry recruitnt tent, which was also equipped with stables.

They pulled aside the canvas covering the tent and went inside.

The scene inside was not what they had imagined.

Upon entering, it felt like a small room. In front was a small wooden table, and behind it sat a records officer dressed in red and white striped clothing, writing sothing.

Beside the small room was a large space covered by fabric, from which soldiers occasionally erged with weapons, heading next door to fetch their mounts.

Seeing Kane and his team enter, the records officer looked up and adjusted the small round glasses on his nose.

"Are you here to recruit new soldiers?"

Hearing the records officer’s question, Kane nodded.

"Here are the prices for the different units. You can choose freely, but you can only recruit as many as you can lead," the records officer said as he took out a wooden token from beside him.

Looking at it, Kane saw three units written on the wooden token, each followed by a number.

Heavy Cavalry 5 Light Cavalry 4 Bow Cavalry 4

"What do the numbers after them indicate?" Kane asked, confused.

Hearing Kane’s question, the records officer’s eyes showed a hint of confusion but proceeded to explain, "The numbers indicate the amount of battle rits required to recruit that type of soldier."

"Then how can we check our battle rits?"

Upon hearing Kane’s question, the records officer suddenly realized, "You must be new commanders. Use this on your rank badge to check," he said, handing five small jade tokens to Kane and his companions from under the table.

Kane took them, distributed the other four to Kreya and the others, then placed his jade token on the badge on his chest.

The mont he placed it, the previously unadorned jade token displayed characters as if drawn with ink.

Kane

Centurion

Troop Capacity: 0/100

Battle rits: 1253

Although he wasn’t sure how battle rits were calculated, his rits seed quite abundant, as he could fill his troop capacity completely by purchasing heavy cavalry.

Noticing a " " symbol behind his rank, Kane clicked on it.

Rank Upgrade: 200

This ant spending 200 battle rits could upgrade his rank by one level.

Considering his amount of battle rits, Kane tried clicking once.

His battle rits instantly dropped from 1253 to 1053.

However, his Centurion rank remained unchanged, still marked with a " ".

But his troop capacity changed to 0/200, increasing by 100 the number of troops he could lead.

Kane noticed that everyone else’s rank was the sa as his, but their troop capacity remained at the initial 100.

Each person’s battle rits varied, likely based on the enemies they had defeated or contributions made.

He didn’t quite yet understand the mathematics behind it.

Kreya’s battle rits were the closest to his, the others were slightly behind, and izike’s were the lowest.

On the battlefield, izike hadn’t killed many enemies, spending most of the ti healing soldiers near death, yet his battle rits were still close to 600.

This indicated that healing allies contributed to increasing battle rits as well.

Kane turned to Kreya and asked, "Kreya, which type of cavalry do you want to recruit?"

It was almost certain that Kreya would turn all her troops into cavalry to match her combat rhythm.

Given that Kreya only had slightly over 900 battle rits, upgrading her rank wouldn’t let her fill her troop capacity, and they still weren’t sure how effective these soldiers were.

So Kreya pondered for a mont and said, "I’ll recruit all heavy cavalry."

At this point, Kane turned to Longbei and the others and asked, "Do you want to recruit cavalry?"

Unexpectedly, they all shook their heads, indicating they already had their targets in mind.

In the end, only Kreya and Kane wanted to recruit cavalry.

"Recruit 100 heavy cavalry," Kreya said to the records officer.

The records officer nodded, made a note in his journal, and then asked, "Where are your soldiers’ living quarters? They’ll report there when they arrive."

"They need living quarters?" Kane asked, surprised.

In response, the records officer was even more perplexed, "Of course, where else would they stay? Plus, they need supplies; they can’t go to battle on an empty stomach."

It seed Kane’s own ideas about the logistics of war were sowhat naive.

Even though Kane had realized that the battles in this world were very much like a real-ti strategy ga.

All the forces only need to focus on warfare, without considering any logistics, as there’s supposedly a rear that crazily produces resources for them.

But who knows about this, maybe it’s so kind of setting.

The recruitnt of soldiers and various types of areas, along with the scenes when constructing camps, isn’t this just like building structures in real-ti strategy gas?

However, hearing what this records officer said.

After all, this is a real world, despite having various ga-like chanisms; it indeed follows real-world logic.

The real ga world should be understood in this way without any major issues.

Thus, the recruited soldiers need a place to live, and various gas also have a chanism to build houses to increase population.

Very reasonable.

This soldier also needs food to maintain life and condition. In all sorts of gas, soldiers also need maintenance fees.

Very reasonable.

Thus, there seems to be no problem with these concepts.

Kane thought for a mont and said: "We do not have our own soldier camp, so where should we build it?"

The records officer sighed while looking at Kane and the others; these arrivals are too new.

"Go out from here, turn left and walk a bit; there’s an artisan camp where you can recruit artisans to help you build soldier camps. However, these soldier camps also require battle rits, but they are very cheap."

After saying this, he thought for a while and continued: "Next to it is the military supply depot. Various living materials can be exchanged there; you can also use battle rits to get them. If you’re in the camp, als and drinks are free in the canteen, so you won’t need to spend additional battle rits."

"But if you go to war outside, you must prepare enough supplies."

"Thank you for your answer," Kane nodded and said.

"Then we’ll co back after we’ve built the camp."

Upon hearing Kane’s words, the records officer imdiately waved and said: "There’s no need to be so troubleso; you can recruit the soldiers you want right now, and when you’ve completed the soldier camp, they will co by themselves."

Asking for directions, reasonable.

Finally, Kreya recruited 100 heavy cavalry, while Kane recruited 200 bow riders.

Next, they also took a stroll inside the archer recruitnt camp.

The structure here is not much different from the cavalry recruitnt camp.

Archer 3 Crossbowman 3

The difference between these two soldiers lies in their weapons, each having its advantages and disadvantages.

Considering Kane’s attack approach, izike decided to exchange for 100 crossbown.

The crossbown’s attack range is relatively short, but they have armor piercing damage.

For longer distances, Kane will directly bombard with cannon fire, leaving no chance for archers to appear.

Next to them is only a close combat soldier recruitnt camp; it’s obvious Longbei will recruit soldiers from it.

However, Lilulu probably doesn’t want to recruit.

"Why is there no Mage for Lilulu to recruit?" Lilulu said sowhat dejectedly.

Hearing Lilulu’s words, Kane rolled his eyes in helplessness; he also wanted to recruit Mages but there’s no possibility of that.

While they were thinking, Kane and the others arrived at the close combat soldier recruitnt camp next door.

Long Spear Soldier 3 Sword and Shield Soldier 3

Weapons of both types of soldiers can be swapped, like the sword of the sword and shield soldier can be changed to a shorter long spear.

Longbei switched all his forces to sword and shield soldiers but changed the sword to a long spear.

Finally, there’s only Lilulu left, still hesitating over what type of soldiers she should recruit.

"How about recruiting light cavalry?" Kreya proposed from the side.

At this point, Lilulu, suffering from decision-making difficulty, nodded at Kreya’s suggestion: "Then let’s recruit light cavalry."

After recruiting soldiers, they quickly went to the artisan camp ntioned by the records officer. Part of the artisan camp is open-air, and you can see blacksmiths forging weapons in one area.

While in another area, carpenters are making sothing that looks like engineering equipnt.

As Kane and the others arrived, an old gentleman wiping sweat asked, "What brings you here? Do you need engineering equipnt?"

Kane shook his head and said: "We need soldier camps for habitation."

Upon hearing Kane’s request, the old gentleman nodded.

"How many camps do you need to build, and where should they be constructed?"

Kane thought and said: "Just build it on the right side of this camp, requiring a space for 600 people, with 400 cavalry."

"Alright." After hearing this, the old gentleman beckoned to a young strong man nearby, who ca over, and upon hearing the old man’s words, he led a team of artisans away.

"Please wait a mont; it won’t take long for the camps to be built. It requires 300 battle rits in total."

battle rits averaged among all soldiers is 0.5 per soldier.

This explains that they’re impartial when constructing camps for all soldiers.

Kane and the others’ battle rits decreased differently based on the number of soldiers each had.

And Kane’s battle rits decreased by 100 points.

This indicates that just as Kane thought, the cost of building camps is the sa whether for cavalry or infantry.

Now all the camps are undergoing construction, and Kane and the others can take this opportunity to look for Captain Horn at the central main camp.

They crossed the military camp and reached the center.

Under the salutes of surrounding patrol soldiers, Kane and the others entered the inside of the camp.
