[Halon: I’m done digesting here, how are you doing?]
[Lisa: Killing so bears.]
[Halon: Is there room for one more?]
After Lohan’s ssage, the chat was silent for a few seconds until a reply arrived.
[Lisa: I’ll be right there to pick you up.]
"Okay, it seems she’s cald down a bit." Lohan thought with relief.
While Lisa was away, Lohan did not continue to absorb the bodies of humans, but returned to digesting the Mana Stone that Aeliana had given him the day before.
As a Level 11 monster’s Mana Stone, the density of biomass in it was insane.
And that made even more sense to him after he rose to Level 03 and realized that the experience needed to level up instead of increasing by 100, actually doubled.
He needed 100 points to rise to level 2, 200 points to rise to level 3, and now he needed 400 points to rise to level 4.
Fortunately, killing more powerful enemies also yielded more experience, to the point that after the battle against the humans, added to the little experience Lohan had left from the last grind, he already had 63 points, with only 337 points left.
In a few minutes, a familiar sll was noticed by [Chemosensory Aptitude Lv 5], now becoming much more noticeable after this evolution leveled up, but mixed with an unpleasant sll of blood.
Looking in the direction he slled it, Lohan noticed the little white fox approaching, still in a semi-transparent state.
Reading a common human expression was easy, reading a human expression trained not to reveal thoughts was difficult, and doing so with a fox was almost impossible. He didn’t know what she was thinking, but based on the principle of "If I don’t embarrass myself, the embarrassnt will be yours," Lohan acted normally with her.
"Hey," he said as he rolled toward her and waved his small, cute hand casually. "I finally finished digesting, I got one useful skill, one almost useless skill, and one that I don’t even know if I’ll ever use."
Lisa looked at him with half-closed eyes, but she didn’t force the issue either. "Great, added to the experience I’ve accumulated over the last few days, I only need to kill two or three more bears to reach Level 04."
This didn’t surprise Lohan. When he was at Level 01, she was already Level 03.
"Right, so let’s help you level up first, I can act as support for you." She said as she rolled onto her back.
The fox looked at him for a few seconds, noticing how naturally he climbed onto her back, and controlled the urge to roll her eyes. "Okay, let’s go, I have to log off in a little while."
"Wait!" Lohan rembered sothing.
Lisa looked at him suspiciously, hoping he wouldn’t co up with another excuse to delay leveling.
Since she didn’t have an evolution skill like him, or training in the use of skills, the most direct way for her to get stronger was by killing monsters.
Looking back, she saw the sli stick its small hand inside itself and pull sothing out, still a little wet from the jelly of its body, but which quickly dried after it absorbed it back.
In its palm were 23 copper coins!
"Did you get those from those corpses?!" She asked excitedly, completely losing the exaggerated indifference she had been forcing herself to show.
Lohan was surprised by her reaction, but pleased. "Yes, I think they only carried the coins they needed for daily use, probably the real reserve must have been left at their base, but still, this is the first money we’ve earned."
Lisa looked at it with great curiosity, wondering what could be done with it, until she saw Sli’s little hand go back inside to store the money, and then co back out with half the coins, extending it to her.
"Here, this is your share. I believe a 50-50 split is fair for both of us, what do you think?" Lohan asked.
Her eyes widened, surprised that he wanted to share that money with her.
In her life in the real world, money was practically infinite. There had never been anything she wanted that money couldn’t buy, so to her it was just a convenience.
But in Elysium things had changed, she couldn’t use her family’s money, at least not at this stage. So seeing those coins being offered awakened sothing new in her heart.
"Are you sure you want to share this with ?" she asked, confirming again.
Lohan reached out his hand again, almost pouring the coins onto the fox’s head. "Co on, take it for yourself. We both fought for this, so it’s only fair that the reward be shared between us, just like the reward the elves will bring."
Lisa was touched, happy with Halon’s initiative to share it with her, especially believing that he ca from the Lower Zone and knowing how desperate for money the people there were.
But then ca an awkward scene.
Lisa wanted to take the coins from Sli’s hand, but when she reached out with her paw, she realized she didn’t even have a thumb to hold it!
Elysium had no personal inventory; if the Player wanted to carry sothing, they would need to physically take it from one place to another.
Seeing her reaction and her paw frozen, not knowing how to act, Lohan rembered sothing.
"Wait a mont," he said as he rolled back to the dead assassin on the floor and rummaged through her body looking for sothing.
Lisa looked at him with her head tilted to the side in confusion, but waited patiently this ti.
After a few monts, Lohan exclaid, "I found it!"
Raising his small hand, he showed her a small brown cloth bag used to carry coins.
He hadn’t even considered it before because he could carry things inside himself, but realizing Lisa’s situation, it proved useful.
Unfortunately, this was the only bag he hadn’t corroded, as it was the only one without any coins for him to steal.
Seeing a necklace around the woman’s neck, Lohan was not polite and took it without a second thought. The necklace did not emit any magical signals and did not even look like valuable jewelry, so he wrapped the cord around the bag with a knot and made a small handle.
"Co here, let’s see if this will fit you well."
He said excitedly, proud of what he had done.
Lisa looked at it strangely, not quite sure how to react to Halon’s "gift."
She didn’t feel so bad about the coins because she had also fought and believed she deserved them as much as he did, but not the cloth bag, not because it looked valuable, but because it looked like a gift.
Seeing the fox standing there without reacting, Lohan was confused for a mont but didn’t care, rolling toward her and gently passing the string around her neck and fastening it.
"How about it? Is it comfortable? If it’s not good, I can take the money for you too, I’ve gotten bigger and now it even fits more stuff inside," he said casually.
Lisa looked at the small brown bag tied around her neck and realized that moving around with it would not be very comfortable, but for so reason she felt reluctant to give it back to Halon.
"It’s fine, I like it," she said quietly, looking away.
