Upon seeing Jas Lockwood, Evelyn’s heart skipped a beat in fear.
She had only seen Jas once at a banquet. Although they hadn’t interacted formally, she knew powerful figures like him were absolutely not to be trifled with.
At this mont, even though he seed to disdain her, his appearance here was surely for her!
Indeed, a bodyguard in black walked up to Evelyn and said coldly, "Please co with to the car. The chairman wants to have a word with you."
"A... word?" Evelyn’s voice was noticeably timid.
She looked around, but there was no one to rescue her; there were a few people nearby watching the scene unfold, marveling at the car with awe.
"Please get in the car with !" The bodyguard’s tone turned firm.
With no choice, Evelyn realized it wouldn’t make sense if she tried to flee or refused to get into the car.
Besides, she figured she wouldn’t be in any life-threatening danger, right?
At most, she would just be teased a bit by Jas Lockwood.
Even though she told herself it was easy and simple, her courage wasn’t that strong.
The authority exuded by Jas Lockwood was almost insurmountable; she just wanted to get as far away as possible!
Before Evelyn could think it through, the bodyguard grabbed her wrist and led her to the car behind Jas Lockwood’s.
Practically dragged into the car, Evelyn felt her hairs stand on end all over, a chill ran down her spine, making her shiver even in the hot weather.
She started doubting, if Jas Lockwood was really displeased, would he just send her off to the other side of the Earth?
Evelyn’s mind raced, pondering what she should do next.
Especially since she and Jas Lockwood weren’t even in the sa car.
How much must he dislike her!
Evelyn pouted, glanced at the bodyguard beside her, whose face was stern, not offering any extra words or expressions.
Nervous about not handling things well, she quickly took out her phone to call Caden Lockwood.
The bodyguard didn’t stop her, he only glanced at Evelyn and then shifted his gaze back to the front of the car.
Seeing Evelyn was calling him, Caden’s expression took on a rather remarkable change.
Since she moved into his house, she rarely contacted him on her own initiative.
Could she really be in so sort of trouble now?
Could it be she still couldn’t handle things with Finn Lewis?
He knew she would definitely seek his help!
A subtle smile curled at the corner of his mouth, exuding a carefree arrogance, and after pressing the call button, he lazily asked, "What? Ran into trouble?"
"How did you know!" Evelyn exclaid in surprise.
"With that little brain of yours, just how many ways could you co up with to prove your innocence?" Caden retorted rcilessly.
"It’s not about that," Evelyn pouted, "It’s... your dad just ca to the school gate to get , and now... I don’t know where he’s taking ."
Upon hearing this, Caden’s gaze darkened, his face imdiately clouded over. Grabbing the car keys, he got up from his office chair and briskly headed toward the garage.
As he walked, he instructed coldly, "Hand the phone to the person next to you."
Evelyn complied and handed the phone to the bodyguard beside her, speaking softly, "Please take the call."
The bodyguard took the phone and greeted respectfully, "Young master."
"Where are you planning to take her?" Caden’s voice was as cold as ice.
Starting the engine, he gripped the steering wheel, ready to rush over as soon as he got an answer.
