Getting off the car, Evelyn hesitated for a mont as she looked at Jas Lockwood not far ahead before stepping up to him.
Just as she was about to greet him, Jas Lockwood walked straight into the villa without even glancing in Evelyn’s direction.
Evelyn stood awkwardly, clenching her fists, glancing at the setting sun in the west before following him inside.
In the study, Jas Lockwood sat while Evelyn stood. He was imposing and cold, and she appeared obedient and sensible, creating a stark contrast in their deanor.
"How much money will it take for you to leave?" Jas Lockwood went straight to the point.
Evelyn was taken aback, "Money?"
"I’ve heard about your situation," Jas Lockwood’s tone was icy and rciless, "Aren’t you just trying to swindle so money from Caden and then live happily ever after with that little boyfriend of yours? I’m willing to fulfill that desire for you right now. A hundred million, is that enough?"
Evelyn’s eyes widened.
A hundred million!
"You’ve misunderstood!" she hurried to explain, "That’s not my boyfriend, that’s soone who deliberately set up! He’s trying to use to get a sum of money, which is why he’s deliberately slandering !"
"I’m not interested in the matters between you and them," Jas Lockwood narrowed his eyes, "Originally, I wouldn’t give you a single cent, but spending ti with a gold-digger like you is already wasting so much of my potential earnings!"
Evelyn pouted, thinking how similar Jas Lockwood and Caden were in their tone!
Both were so endlessly arrogant, not caring what the other actually thought.
No wonder they are father and son!
"I’m not after The Lockwood Family’s wealth," Evelyn softly said, "I just..."
"Is a hundred million too little for you?" Jas Lockwood interrupted Evelyn, "Do you think you can demand more just because I made the first offer?"
"I truly haven’t..."
"Greed will only leave one with nothing in the end," Jas Lockwood’s tone was full of warning and threat.
Evelyn’s lips curved subtly. This wealthy man, when judging another, couldn’t he at least listen to what the other party had to say?
Yet frustratingly, she couldn’t confidently claim that her relationship with Caden was purely out of love.
"I know you don’t like ," Evelyn’s voice remained small, "In your view, I don’t have an extraordinary family background, not born with a silver spoon, just a poor girl from a family you disdain."
She paused and then continued, "However, I don’t think I’m any worse than those heiresses. Whether you like as your daughter-in-law is your choice, but please don’t dean my character just because you think I’m not good enough for your son."
"Making such big statents is not just sothing you can say casually," Jas Lockwood sighed, "How many proper family children marry without first getting parental consent and blessings before registering? But you, afraid of my objection, go ahead and register with Caden first. You’re quite adept at this ’act first, report later’ tactic. Planning to get pregnant next to force my hand?"
Listening to Jas Lockwood’s sarcasm, the smile Evelyn tried to maintain gradually faded.
She felt so wronged!
She hadn’t known about the marriage much earlier than Jas Lockwood!
It’s all Caden’s fault!
Now, she’s thoroughly painted as a sinner!
Opening her mouth, she mulled over what would be best to say.
Yet racking her brains, she couldn’t think of a good explanation.
"Na your price," Jas Lockwood’s gaze stopped on the check, "How much do you want?"
