"You’re concerned about ?" Caden Lockwood’s lips curled into a lazy arch, neither a smile nor an anger.
Not hearing Evelyn Morgan’s response, Caden continued, "Didn’t you say staying with was terrifying, that each day felt like a year, and you wished to be as far away from as possible?"
"That was just drunk talk," Evelyn explained softly.
"And liking Logan Shaw, was that from the heart?" Caden lowered his voice, "Was it sincere?"
Unsure why there was small talk at this mont, Evelyn resignedly lowered her eyes and softly said, "No."
After hesitating for a mont, she explained further, "Logan and I are really just friends! It feels like he’s a long-lost brother, there’s a very familiar feeling."
Not hearing a response, she couldn’t help but look up and et Caden’s gaze, softly saying, "So, please don’t hurt him! Destroying soone’s dreams is a very unethical thing to do. I don’t want you to beco that kind of person."
"So, you ca here to keep from hurting him, not out of concern for ?" Caden’s tone was rough.
"Of course not!" Evelyn retorted strongly, "I ca because Julian Keaton said you were about to die, and I was worried sothing had happened to you..."
At this point, she realized sothing was wrong, quickly stopped speaking, and a blush crept up her cheeks.
Hearing Evelyn’s words, Caden’s heart felt a little more at ease.
Evelyn said she and Logan were just friends and that she ca because she was worried about him. He knew she was telling the truth.
This woman was not naturally a good liar.
He loved seeing her flustered like a scared fawn, so innocent, so pure, her beautiful eyes clear as if they could cleanse this filthy world.
He took her hand and pulled her closer to him.
Seeing her walking awkwardly, his brows furrowed, and he asked urgently, "What’s wrong? Did you fall?"
She shook her head, "No."
As she tried to step back, he instead pulled her to sit down and lifted her foot to inspect it closely.
Her ankle was swollen like a bun, with a big bruise.
"Are you a pig?" He looked up and glared at her, "How did your foot get swollen like this? Hmm? Where did you fall? On your way here?"
Evelyn felt a bit embarrassed. Rembering how Caden had snapped at her at ho, pushed her, and tossed away the ring, she felt very aggrieved.
"You pushed , didn’t you?" she pouted, protesting, "And now you’re pretending to care! I’m leaving first, so I won’t get in the way of you finding other won. Goodbye!"
"Evelyn!" Caden’s voice squeezed through his teeth, and he tightened his grip on her wrist, "Just try leaving, see what happens."
"You’re out of line!" Evelyn was annoyed, "You’re the one who wanted a divorce! I’ve already signed the divorce agreent, and now you won’t let go? What do you take for?"
"I wanted a divorce?" A deep sothing flashed in Caden’s eyes, "What’s going on? When did I say I wanted a divorce? Didn’t you send a divorce agreent to sign?"
"No, I didn’t!" Evelyn shook her head, her beautiful face full of confusion, "You had Miss Dunn give the divorce papers and told to sign and leave! You bought out a restaurant to entertain your girlfriend... that was her, right?"
The more she spoke, the more she probed.
She was urgently trying to find out if Shannon Dunn was his girlfriend.
