Listening to Logan Shaw’s sudden question, Evelyn was montarily stunned, not understanding why he would suddenly ask such a thing.
"There are hidden secrets in your marriage with Caden Lockwood," Logan stated with certainty. "You didn’t want to marry him, and he must have other motives in marrying you too."
"Other... motives?" Evelyn frowned. "What could I possibly have that he would covet?"
"Doesn’t that make it all the more strange?" Logan countered.
Evelyn’s lips curled awkwardly.
She used to wonder about the reason Caden Lockwood married her.
But he had too many secrets, so many that she didn’t have the energy to solve them one by one.
She seed to have a lazy mindset, thinking that as long as she could get by, she’d continue to just get by.
So secrets he was unwilling to reveal, and she didn’t want to keep pressing.
When the ti ca for her to know, Caden Lockwood would surely tell her!
"How did you and he...?" Logan hesitated for a mont before softly asking, "How did you get married in the first place? Can you tell ?"
Evelyn looked at Logan, not responding imdiately.
So doubts lingered in her mind that she didn’t seek answers for, but that didn’t an she wasn’t curious.
Now, Logan was so interested in her affairs, and he was smarter than her.
Perhaps, after she told him everything, he would discover sothing.
Thinking this, Evelyn briefly recounted her situation with Caden Lockwood.
The more Evelyn spoke, the tighter Logan’s brow furrowed, and his expression gradually beca darker and more unpleasant.
"Is there... sothing wrong?" Evelyn asked quietly, eyes filled with deep unease.
"He went ahead with your marriage certificate without you even knowing?" Logan’s voice was heavy. "Evelyn, how could you be so foolish to accept this marriage?"
"But..." Evelyn’s tone was full of grievance. "The marriage certificate was already done, I had no other options at the ti! Besides, I could only count on him to help find my brother."
In that situation, the only thing she could do was comply.
"If you had stood firm and disagreed, what else could he have done to you?" Logan retorted. "Evelyn, Caden Lockwood certainly has unspeakable motives! Even though we don’t know what they are yet, you absolutely mustn’t stay by his side in such confusion!"
"I..."
"I can help you find a divorce lawyer," Logan said sternly. "I want to see if he truly believes he can control everything!"
"No!" Evelyn panicked.
She was unwilling to provoke Caden Lockwood and didn’t want to challenge his connections and temper.
"Evelyn!"
"Although the order of our marriage was a bit wrong, I did agree to be his wife," Evelyn said softly. "I know you’re worried I’ll get hurt. But honestly, marrying him, I’m not really at a disadvantage."
"How can you use whether you’re at a disadvantage to asure your marriage?" Logan asked urgently. "Shouldn’t the person you marry be soone who loves you?"
"Soone who loves ?" Evelyn gave a faint smile, her face showing unmistakable resignation and despondency.
"The fact is, I got drunk and had relations with my uncle. Without being able to offer the best of myself, what right do I have to hope to find a man I love and who won’t mind that I’ve been divorced?" Evelyn’s voice was very small.
Logan looked at Evelyn, his starry eyes filled with earnestness. "What if... there is soone?"
Evelyn was taken aback, not fully understanding the deeper aning behind Logan’s words.
He looked at her with such tenderness and compassion, drawing her in, making it impossible for her to look away.
