Feeling instantly soothed, Evelyn curled her lips into a smile and sent L a "thank you."
Touching her stomach, she felt a twinge of hunger and headed to the first floor to eat. In good spirits, she humd a tune to herself.
"You’re the electricity, you’re the light, you’re the only legend, I love only you, You are my superstar!"
As her gaze swept around, she saw Caden Lockwood looking at his phone. She took a seat across from him, throwing him a proud look.
"I’ve figured it out!" Evelyn solemnly announced, "Whether you want to talk or not! Hug your secret tight and have nightmares!"
Caden Lockwood raised his gaze, looking at Evelyn, his dark eyes filled with profound aning.
Though he should be angry, his lips curled up unconsciously into a faint smile, his brows suffused with indulgence.
"With you sleeping beside , I won’t have nightmares." He teased her, his tone surprisingly gentle and content even to himself.
Watching the blush spread on her face as he’d hoped, he put down his phone, greedily gazing at her, reluctant to look away.
Aunt May served the dishes, seeing Evelyn’s mood lift, she also breathed a sigh of relief.
Thank goodness!
Otherwise, if sothing really stirred up, the ho’s warmth would certainly vanish again.
In the future, she must learn to control her own mouth!
As night fell, Evelyn was reading in the study, and still insisted on calling Cecilia Lynch.
This ti, the call finally connected.
"Hello." On the other end, Cecilia Lynch’s weak voice sounded.
"What’s wrong?" Evelyn furrowed her brow, "You sound really weak."
"Mm." Cecilia’s eyes could barely stay open.
That beast Julian Keaton had tired her out completely.
She really wondered where he got such stamina.
The words on the tip of her tongue, Evelyn didn’t know how to begin asking those lingering questions on her mind.
"Then get so rest first! Restore your energy, and we’ll et up in a few days." Evelyn spoke softly.
"Evelyn." Cecilia mustered the strength, "I know you’ve got questions, but could you not ask?"
"..."
"What I haven’t told you is sothing I didn’t want anyone to know." Cecilia’s voice was very light, "But please believe, our friendship is real."
"Cece." Evelyn’s heart was in her throat, "I’ve never doubted our friendship. I don’t know what’s happened to you, but if you need to vent, you can always co to , okay? Don’t keep it all inside."
Cecilia answered, but couldn’t fight off the sleepiness, so she hung up and went back to sleep.
Looking at the dark screen, Evelyn let out a heavy sigh.
Being Cecilia’s close friend, yet unable to do anything for her, it was a thought that made her feel guilty.
She lifted her gaze, staring at the dark night outside the window, burying her head in the crook of her arm, her little face innocent yet helpless.
At this mont, Caden Lockwood was in the study handling business, his phone started ringing.
It was Julian Keaton calling.
He just pressed the call button when Julian Keaton’s bragging voice ca through: "Caden, do you know what it feels like to be full?"
Caden Lockwood’s face darkened, realizing sothing, and before he could hang up, he heard Julian continue: "Honestly, I should be thanking you! If you hadn’t slandered at the dining table about secretly eting a wealthy heiress, I wouldn’t have realized Cece would get jealous over other won around ."
"..."
"Tsk tsk!" Julian laughed happily, "Cece told your new-found sister’s bedroom life seems not to be very harmonious, do you need to teach you how to make a woman willingly lie beneath you? Hahaha—"
With that, Julian hung up, clearly intending to provoke Caden Lockwood.
