Seeing Evelyn with that sa proud and rigid expression, Caden Lockwood’s palm itched with an impulse to grasp her delicate neck and show her his power.
"Evelyn," Caden Lockwood’s voice squeezed through clenched teeth, each word seeming to co from an icy abyss, "how long do you plan on being so stubborn?"
Evelyn felt a dull ache in her chest. Looking at Caden, she retorted, "Am I being stubborn?"
She paused, then spoke again, "Of course! To you, you haven’t done a single thing wrong. You, up on your pedestal, think soone like The First Young Master Lockwood can’t err, so you dare do anything!"
Listening to Evelyn’s sarcastic tone, Caden’s dark brows furrowed tightly together.
His malicious gaze swept over Evelyn, his handso face darkening further.
He stared at her, his narrow black eyes brimming with cold light, his thin lips pressed straight—without a hint of a smile.
Feeling the pure wrath from Caden directed solely at her, Evelyn’s heart grew even colder.
He had changed the trajectory of her life without hesitation, told her such a big lie, and even now, he hadn’t apologized even once. Instead, he persistently oppressed her with such force.
In his heart, did he not feel a shred of guilt towards her?
Did he think everything he did was right?

She should have known he was such a person.
His life from childhood, the people he encountered, had spoiled him into such a character.
And what was she imagining?
Why did she think soone like him, a high and mighty young lord, would be different?
"Caden Lockwood," Evelyn’s face carried a hint of cool indifference, "if you want to play, go find soone else to play with. I’m not going to accompany you."
With that, Evelyn picked up the bag thrown on the ground, gathering the scattered fans, and was about to step away to distribute them from her position.
Caden Lockwood grabbed Evelyn’s wrist, angrily saying, "How long are you going to keep up this charade? Aren’t you planning to go ho? Where will you sleep? What will you eat? Are you really going to save up enough through odd jobs to file a divorce lawsuit against ?"
"It’s not a charade," Evelyn looked Caden in the eye, "and there’s nothing shaful about these odd jobs!"
Pausing, she continued, "This is how I’ve lived my life from childhood. In my concept, no work is shaful. I ensure I don’t do anything bad, nothing that compromises my integrity, and as for the rest, no matter how dirty or tiring, I’ll do it!"
With that, she wrenched her hand free from his grip.
Giving him a glance, she said coldly, "You think these jobs are laughable, but it’s through these laughable jobs that I’ve kept living."
Looking at Evelyn, Caden felt anger, fire, resentnt, and bla.
Yet, despite himself, he had to admit that at this mont, he was utterly shocked by the aura she exuded.
Her tone was calm, lacking any blatant show of dominance.
But it was precisely that indifference and composure that carried an even greater sense of oppression.
Watching her departing figure, he let out a heavy sigh, a deep complexity flashing across his handso face.
Evelyn, carrying the heavy bags, walked step by step back to her original spot, eyes lowered, her heart tinged with a slight ache.
This is how she and Caden Lockwood were going to say goodbye, right?

And she was just soone who needed to depend on odd jobs to make a living.
To him, the person she was and the things she did were contemptible.
He certainly understood by now that their lives had no commonality, and even if forced, it was rely shared human traits.
