Looking at the one-million-dollar check, Cecilia Lynch felt overwhelming gratitude in her heart.
"Evelyn..." Cecilia choked up, "I..."
How did she get so lucky to have such a wonderful friend?
"Take it! This money is just for show if it’s with . My uncle treats very well, covering all my expenses. I don’t need to use this money," Evelyn Morgan chuckled softly, "Once things are settled between you and Julian Keaton, you won’t have any burdens left, right?"
"I..." Cecilia lowered her eyes, "Evelyn, I might never be able to repay this money in my lifeti."
"You don’t have to pay it back!" Evelyn quickly replied, "My uncle is wealthy, he doesn’t care about that million!"
"But what if you want to leave him in the future, and you’ve used his money?" Cecilia asked.
Hearing this, a flash of complex emotions passed through Evelyn’s eyes.
"Why would I leave him?" Her voice was very light, and her expression turned somber.
Thinking about how unstable her marriage with Caden Lockwood really was, her heart suddenly ached.
Yet, she couldn’t reveal anything in front of Cecilia.
"You’re right, instead of becoming a divorcée, it’s better to live well with him," Evelyn’s lips curled into an awkward smile, "After all, he is... genuinely good to !"
Cecilia scrutinized Evelyn, why did it feel like sothing was off with Evelyn’s emotions right now?
"Are you hiding sothing else from ?" Cecilia asked cautiously, "Evelyn, this million doesn’t feel as trivial as you say, does it? You..."
"Do you think my uncle treats badly?" Evelyn held Cecilia’s hand, her eyes sincere.
"..."
"Cece, just a few days ago I watched a movie with my uncle! He even specifically asked about what you and I wanted to watch, right?" Evelyn said with a smile, "He genuinely pampers , and this money really is just pocket change. Take it to buy your freedom! Go now! I’ll cover your work here!"
"But..."
"No buts!" Evelyn interrupted Cecilia, "Unless, you don’t want to be free."
"Of course I do!" Cecilia exclaid, "I’ve never stopped wishing to rid myself of that identity."
"Then go quickly!" Evelyn urged, "Go, Cece! Buy back your freedom!"
"Okay!" Cecilia responded, "Then... Evelyn, I’ll leave this to you!"
"Go!" Evelyn waved at Cecilia, "Don’t think about anything else, just take the check and sort things out with Julian Keaton."
Cecilia nodded heavily, said "Thank you" to Evelyn, and imdiately ran out to call Julian Keaton.
Julian Keaton and Cecilia Lynch hadn’t reconciled yet since their argunt, and he was still pondering how to make her compromise first.
But no matter how much he thought about it, he couldn’t co up with anything.
Cecilia, that stubborn girl, was as difficult to handle as a bull, and he had no control over her.
Just as he was feeling frustrated, Cecilia unexpectedly called him first, which made Julian overjoyed.
"Julian, can you spare so ti to co to my house now? There’s sothing I want to say to you." Cecilia pleaded.
"Now?" Julian’s tone was full of arrogance, "I’m not soone who’s free all the ti. Want to see ? Schedule an appointnt with my secretary."
