Listening to Caden Lockwood’s words, Evelyn Morgan couldn’t help but smile.
"Actually... I’m not really that tired!" Evelyn’s eyes sparkled brightly, "It’s just that I find it so dramatic! I casually encountered such a noble person!"
Having wandered around the venue for a while, she learned so of the backstory, and she figured out Susan Stone’s identity.
"The saying ’fools have good fortune’ isn’t bad!" Evelyn said self-deprecatingly, "Lucky !"
"It’s not luck," Caden replied softly.
He raised his hand, smoothing out the stray strands of hair on Evelyn’s forehead, his gaze filled with deep affection.
Lightly parting his lips, he spoke: "Your character determines everything. You’re willing to suffer grievances yourself but won’t let those around you get hurt. Always so foolish."
Evelyn couldn’t help but laugh, but then showed a hint of concern.
"You..." she hesitated, "are you really not angry? I saw The Clayton Family’s deanor seed quite arrogant, after all, I’ve offended them..."
"Now it’s them who should be panicked for offending ." Caden interrupted Evelyn, offering two reassuring words: "Relax."
"Really?" Evelyn still felt uneasy.
"Moreover, silly girl, how much should I reward you this ti?" Caden raised an eyebrow in thought, "Originally, Jassion wasn’t interested in cooperating with , but because of you, this deal is sealed. It’s an eight, nine-figure business."
"Oh my gosh!" Evelyn covered her mouth.
She suddenly laughed, "Hahaha—turns out I have this advantage! It’s simply magical! You should definitely give a cut! But, since you let stay and eat for free, I won’t charge. Just praise more often! Don’t always outsmart ; it’s quite discouraging!"
Caden sat beside Evelyn, pulling her into his arms, his broad shoulders were her support, his large hand gently caressing her head, he whispered: "All my attention is focused on you, allowing no one else in, this is the greatest praise for you."
His voice was deep and rich, swirling around her ears, causing her cheeks to flush.
Caden’s lips curved up slightly as he and Evelyn sat on the sofa, enjoying the calm.
Evelyn’s heart was beating particularly fast.
Sotis, a casual remark from Caden could make her let her thoughts run wild.
This man, lately, has beco increasingly alluring!
Snuggled in Caden’s embrace, Evelyn’s lips kept lifting in a smile.
Listening to his heartbeat, steady and powerful, unlike hers, which was like a frenzied grasshopper, hopping all over the place.
"Mr. Lockwood." Shannon Dunn’s voice suddenly sounded, "The Chairman wants to see Mrs. Lockwood."
Evelyn’s breathing tightened, looking towards the voice, her expression turning wary.
Why does this Shannon keep appearing like a haunting spirit, always showing up at inappropriate tis?
"What is it?" Caden’s voice was icy.
"Is Mr. Lockwood worried the Chairman will bully Mrs. Lockwood?" Shannon chuckled lightly.
"It’s okay." Evelyn gently tugged at Caden’s sleeve, "I’ll go see, wait for here, I’ll be back shortly."
"You don’t need to go." Caden said solemnly, "Or if you really want to go, I can accompany you."
"If I don’t go, or if you accompany , your father will never respect ." Evelyn smiled lightly, "Don’t worry! He definitely has sothing to discuss with , if he wanted to do sothing to , it wouldn’t be so blatant."
Seeing the reluctance in Caden’s eyes, Evelyn continued: "As Mrs. Lockwood, I should carry the manner of Mrs. Lockwood, right?"
With that, Evelyn offered Caden a slight smile, then followed Shannon.
