Chapter 403: Each Showed Their Powers

Matthew-Grayrock’s thoughts were actually very simple. He had never once considered competing for first place in the trial. What he wanted was rely to “endure” safely until the very end inside the Bonsai Secret Realm.

At the very beginning of the trial, Matthew-Grayrock had already anticipated that a fire-elent scene should appear in the Transfiguration Trial.

So, in order to dig tunnels more effectively, one of the transfiguration directions he had prepared beforehand was a desert lizard that excelled at surviving in high-temperature environnts.

However, what he never expected was that the fire-elent scene selected in the Transfiguration Trial was not the desert he had envisioned, but a volcanic magma field!

Thus, the mont Matthew-Grayrock laid eyes on the magma lake, his mind went completely blank.

At the sa ti, he felt that the examiner who had chosen the trial scene for the Transfiguration Trial must have been out of their mind!

The Storm Valley chosen at the start was still within his expectations, but magma? That was sothing he really could not endure.

This could no longer be called a trial—it was simply playing with one’s life!

As long as Matthew-Grayrock dared to dig a tunnel, what awaited him would not rely be a high-temperature environnt, but magma that could erupt at any mont.

Not to ntion, among this year’s contestants was Louisto-Tulan, the living nightmare who possessed the Fragnt of the Law of Burning.

In Matthew-Grayrock’s eyes, Louisto-Tulan’s constant use of law power to detonate magma was nothing short of deliberate murder.

As for Louisto-Tulan himself, after transforming into a Phoenix, he had filled up his fla immunity attributes and no longer needed to worry about magma splashing on him.

But for ordinary contestants like Matthew-Grayrock, who had not mastered any Law Fragnt and whose transfigured forms could not grant long-term fla immunity, participating in this trial alongside him was nothing short of sheer misfortune.

“Fwoosh—”

At the very mont Louisto-Tulan detonated the magma, the nearly thousand-degree lava erupted violently. In the center of the magma lake, Marquell-Storm flapped his wings desperately, awkwardly dodging the surging waves of molten rock.

“Damn it!”

Feeling the searing pain from his back after being splashed by magma, Marquell-Storm could not help but curse in a low voice.

Yet, even after his role had shifted from hunter to hunted, Marquell-Storm neither complained nor faltered. Regardless of the violent depletion of mana inside his body, he accelerated at full speed, flying desperately toward the opposite end of the magma lake.

anwhile, at the center of the magma field, Janna was using her Danger Perception talent to dodge waves of molten rock while racking her mind for a counterasure.

Just like Matthew-Grayrock, before the Transfiguration Trial even began, Janna had already anticipated that a fire-elent environnt would appear.

And according to Lilith-Mage’s records of fire-elent scenes in past Transfiguration Trials, this year’s fire-elent setting was most likely to be a desert.

But when the Elental Tides faded away, what appeared before her eyes was a landscape of volcanoes and magma. Janna’s heart grew heavier than ever.

“Splash—”

Just as Janna was still lost in thought, an odd sound, like a pebble dropping into water, drew her attention.

Turning her head, she saw a crimson ant, about the size of a fist, leap high into the air and plunge directly into the orange magma.

“Is that Kumbu-Thornspike?”

After plunging into the magma, not only was the crimson ant not burned to death, it calmly swam about in the molten rock, heading swiftly toward the opposite shore of the magma lake.

“So it’s a Fire-Eater Ant.”

As soone who had scored full marks in Introductory Biology, Janna recognized at a glance that the ant Kumbu-Thornspike had transfigured into was none other than the Fire-Eater Ant—a creature that possessed fla immunity and whose mandibles could even lt tal.

“Splash—”

Another faint sound followed. A contestant, who had transford into a sleek, black Fire Salamander, leaped into the magma right after Kumbu-Thornspike, also swimming toward the far shore.

“It seems that even in such an extre magma environnt, there are contestants who can respond with ease.”

Boom!

Just as Janna sighed in amazent, an explosion rang out. The magma churned violently, further eroding the floating rock on which she stood. Its already limited surface area shrank once more.

“Staying here will only an waiting for death.”

After quickly analyzing the current situation, Janna took a deep breath, the sulfurous stench filling her nose, and her eyes regained their firm resolve.

“Everchanging Form—”

Without a mont’s hesitation, watching the shrinking floating rock beneath her, Janna began chanting the incantation for Basic Transfiguration.

“Crack!”

As soon as the spell was completed, Janna’s skin flushed crimson. In the next instant, her body split and stretched. In the blink of an eye, her originally slender figure rapidly elongated until it reached over thirty ters before finally stopping.

“A vine?”

Not far away, Hela-Helheim, who had been closely observing Janna’s actions, revealed an intrigued look in her eyes when she saw Janna preparing to transfigure.

But when she saw that Janna had beco nothing more than an ordinary-looking crimson vine, her eyes revealed a trace of disappointnt.

“So, her specialty in transfiguration is limited to plant-type creatures.”

Judging from its color, Hela-Helheim could roughly infer that Janna’s vine was likely a magical plant with decent fla resistance.

However, plants were still plants. Even magical ones, though resistant to fire, were powerless in the face of magma that burned at over a thousand degrees—

“What?”

Just as Hela-Helheim was about to look away, Janna’s crimson vine plunged straight into the magma without hesitation.

“A magical plant immune to magma?”

Seeing the thirty-ter vine dive into the molten lake unaffected, Hela-Helheim was greatly shocked. At the sa ti, her perception of Janna grew even deeper.

“It’s a Fla Vine! Such a rare type of Active Magical Plant… Just where did Janna even learn about it?”

In the stands of the Glory Arena, Gawen-Tull, who had been fixated on the big screen with unwavering attention, could not help but mutter softly.

“Janna, oh Janna, just how many more surprises are you hiding from —”

Compared to Gawen-Tull’s heartfelt admiration, most of the spectators’ attention was focused on the fierce battle between Louisto-Tulan’s Phoenix and Marquell-Storm’s azure giant eagle.
