"Do you have any fifty-year-old ginseng?" Seeing the salesclerk remain silent, the middle-aged man asked again anxiously.
"No, we don’t." The salesclerk snapped out of it and hurriedly replied.
"Oh no, what do we do?" The people in the crowd grew anxious when they heard this. "We have to get her to a hospital."
"We can’t. The patient is having an acute heart attack. In her current state, she won’t make it to the hospital without so ginseng to keep her going," the middle-aged man said, his brow tightly furrowed.
"Please, save my grandmother." Hearing this, the young woman beside him grew frantic. "I’m begging you," she pleaded.
"But I don’t have any here..." The middle-aged man wanted to help, but you can’t make bricks without straw.
Before the man could finish, Su Qing stepped forward and handed him a box. "Here’s a ginseng root, about sixty years old. This should work, right?"
The middle-aged man was frantic, but his face lit up when he saw the box Su Qing offered and heard her words. He quickly took the box, opened it, and based on his experience, imdiately recognized that the ginseng root was indeed fifty or sixty years old. Overjoyed, he exclaid, "This is wonderful! Thank you, miss."
The young woman who had been tearfully begging the man to save her grandmother also hurried to thank Su Qing. "Thank you, thank you, thank you so much."
Su Qing shook her head gently. "Saving her is what’s important."
As she spoke, she discreetly sent a wisp of green mist toward the old woman lying on the ground.
The ginseng Su Qing had provided was a whole root. The middle-aged man first tore off two rootlets, then took out a small knife and sliced off two small pieces of the main root, placing them all in the old woman’s mouth.
In just a mont, the old woman’s complexion visibly improved.
The surrounding onlookers’ eyes widened in astonishnt. They stared fervently at the ginseng root. ’What a treasure! Just two rootlets and two small slices could revive such a critically ill patient. It’s practically a life-saving miracle drug.’
The middle-aged man was also surprised. He hadn’t expected it to be so effective. However, he didn’t dwell on it; saving the woman was the most important thing right now.
The middle-aged man handed the ginseng back to Su Qing. "Thank you."
"You’re welco," Su Qing said as she took the ginseng.
The middle-aged man nodded at Su Qing, then turned to the crowd. "Can a few people lend a hand? We need to get the elderly lady to my car so I can take her to the hospital."
"I’ll help."
"I’ll help you."
"I’ll help too."
Instantly, several people ran over to help.
The old woman’s granddaughter spoke to Su Qing gratefully. "Thank you for helping my grandmother. My na is Dai Xiang. May I ask your na? My family must properly thank you for what you’ve done today."
"There’s no need. It was the least I could do. You should go check on your grandmother." Su Qing shook her head lightly and glanced at the old woman being carried away. "The important thing now is to get your grandmother to the hospital quickly."
Dai Xiang could tell Su Qing didn’t intend to give her na. However, with her family’s resources, finding soone was as easy as pie. Even if she didn’t say anything, they could find out who she was. They would definitely repay this debt of gratitude.
So, Dai Xiang nodded quickly at Su Qing. "I must thank you all the sa. My family will be sure to show our appreciation. Goodbye for now."
With that, Dai Xiang hurried after the group to accompany her grandmother to the hospital.
Only then did Su Qing rember she hadn’t paid for her cashre sweater. She hurried toward the counter, but as she got there, she saw a young woman speaking to the salesclerk. "That person still hasn’t paid. Just ring up. How hard can it be?"
"Ma’am, I do apologize," the salesclerk said politely. "This sweater has already been claid. There was an ergency just now, but the custor should still want it. Perhaps you could look at so other styles?"
"This is the style I want. Why don’t you just get another one in the sa color?" The young woman was relentless, dead set on the one right in front of them.
"I’m sorry, but this is the last one we have in this color for this style. We do have it in red and blue, though. Would you like to see the other colors?" the salesclerk maintained her polite tone.
"I want *this* color," the girl said stubbornly.
"I’m sorry, but..." the salesclerk began anxiously.
Just then, Su Qing walked over and said to the salesclerk, "Please wrap up the cashre sweater for . I’m going to pay."
The salesclerk breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Su Qing return. She quickly sent the prepared receipt to the checkout counter and said to Su Qing, "Of course. I’ll wrap it up for you right away."
Su Qing nodded at the salesclerk and turned to head for the checkout. Seeing this, the other girl rushed forward a few steps to block her path, saying arrogantly, "I want that cashre sweater."
"Whether you want it is your business. This sweater is the one I’m buying," Su Qing said, glancing coolly at the girl.
"You..." The girl tried to grab Su Qing’s arm, but this was Su Qing she was dealing with. There was no way she’d let herself be caught. With a quick movent, Su Qing dodged, and the girl’s hand grabbed at empty air. Afterward, Su Qing completely ignored her and headed straight for the checkout counter.
The girl was seething. She wanted to race Su Qing to pay for it, but Su Qing walked so quickly that by the ti the girl caught up to the checkout counter, Su Qing had already paid.
"You!" Seeing the receipt in Su Qing’s hand, the girl’s eyes looked like they were about to shoot fire. ’Is it so easy for to find a piece of clothing I like? And this woman just had to fight for it.’
The girl sized up Su Qing. Her clothes were simple and tasteful but not particularly expensive. They would have been considered quite nice anywhere else, but here in the Friendship Store, they seed a bit too plain. After all, anyone who shopped at the Friendship Store was either very wealthy or very high-status, so their attire was naturally of a higher class.
A look of disdain appeared in the girl’s eyes. She looked at Su Qing haughtily. "What’s your na? Do you have any idea who I am? How dare you try to take sothing from ."
Su Qing rolled her eyes. "I don’t care who you are."
With that, Su Qing bumped past the girl’s shoulder and went to the cashre counter to get her sweater. The girl stumbled back two steps from the impact. She gritted her teeth as she stared at Su Qing’s back. In such a public place, she couldn’t risk getting into a physical fight. After all, her family had a reputation to uphold. If soone saw her brawling in the Friendship Store, her na would be ruined.
In the end, the girl glared resentfully at Su Qing’s retreating back. ’I’ll rember you, the one who stole from .’
