With the arrival of the agreent letter from Lord Simon regarding Madam Rosary’s immigration to the Sanctuary, I found myself needing to build a house.
Madam Lumia was living with Miss Mimir in her mansion for now, so there should be no problem.
At Madam Rosary’s request, the mansion was built on the east side of the Central District.
She intended to live there with the maids and servants she had brought with her, so while it was not to scale with ours, it was a relatively large mansion.
Although she said it was unnecessary, she was still a Viscountess. It’s not like she can live in just any old rickety place.
As for the location of her residence, the reason it was built on the eastern end was apparently out of political consideration towards Yggurle Kingdom and Lomaria Kingdom.
Well, in that case, Miss Mimir’s mansion is also built in a pri location in the central district right next to our mansion. But apparently that was fine considering the relationship between Miss Mimir and the Great Spirits, as well as our longstanding connection.
Though the east side was a slight distance away from the center, it was still within the Central District. As such, it was within walking distance of the newly constructed governnt office that Elven and Dwarven craftsn were currently adorning with carvings and interior work.
And not long after, Madam Rosary and Madam Lumia began working with Charlotte and the others.
My aides will not engage in the governing affairs of the entire Sanctuary; they tasks will now mainly be the clerical work of the company established by the Iruma family.
In any case, it may have been a lucky break for that Madam Rosary and Madam Lumia had left their countries and were willing to help with the Sanctuary’s administrative affairs.
The two were awfully free-willed, but they were so outstanding that I could overlook it.
「Let us hasten the creation of the census.」
「The land of the Sanctuary is fundantally the property of Takumi-kun. There are residences, fields, and even an orchard that the Great Spirits assisted with, but these were provided by him, are they not? Should outsiders learn of how trifling the amount of tax levied over the years, it would be troubling.」
「Madam Lumia, may I ask you to focus on the internal affairs of the Sanctuary?」
「Madam Rosary, will you tackle the improvent of relations with the Trination regarding the overwhelming imbalance of trades?」
「Yes. The trade imbalance had troubled my husband, after all. Well, that is in part due to the lack of attractive items that could be sold to the Sanctuary.」
Madam Rosary and Madam Lumia had gathered the female civil servants and the maids they had brought with them to a conference room in the newly built governnt office to discuss the general objectives moving forward.
「I’m sorry. I was also concerned about the trade imbalance, and we’re currently trying to import a variety of things, but it’s like a drop in the bucket.」
「It can’t be helped that there are far too many things that could only be purchased from the Sanctuary. Let us import cotton and lumber from all three countries.」
「Is there nothing else?」
「What do you think of wheat and barley? Recently, the production of whiskey and ale has increased, but I believe there is still demand for the alcohol.」
I want the wheat used in our staple bread to be the wheat grown in the Sanctuary. It tastes curiously different.
And on that mark, if it’s ingredients used on ale and whiskey, wouldn’t it be fine to use the ones from the Trination?
Doganbo-san, Golan-san, and the other Dwarves would get mad if I said that though.
「Takumi-kun, Sanctuary-grown wheat is indispensable for the alcohol. We can’t make quality liquor otherwise.」
「Madam Lumia, would it be possible to accept it as second-grade alcohol?」
「That could be a possibility, Madam Rosary.」
I may not fully understand the flavors of whiskey and ale, but the quality of the ingredients is vital even for alcohol.
「Once you have had a taste of the Sanctuary-made alcohol, all other alcohol you have had to that point tastes like mud water.」
「Indeed. Yggurle Kingdom is known for its high quality wine, but after having the wine from here……」
「That is how it is.」
According to Madam Rosary, if it is made in the Sanctuary, even alcohol made with imported ingredients would taste good.
「Umm, how do you know about this, Madam Rosary?」
「Fufu, Doganbo-dono had allowed to sample what he created as an experint.」
「Since when……」
「Takumi-san, I have heard that you are not too enthused by alcohol, and so you had entrusted everything related to it to Doganbo-dono and Golan-dono.」
「Now that you ntion it, that’s true.」
In the Sanctuary, you can drink safe and delicious water as much as you want, so there’s no need to drink wine instead of water. That’s why alcohol was entirely a luxury product, but it wasn’t only the Dwarves, but also Elves and Beastkin seem to enjoy drinking alcohol.
I wondered if it was a reaction plenty of people who have lived inadequately, unable to afford to drink.
「First-grade alcohol made from Sanctuary-grown ingredients. Second-grade alcohol made from imported ingredients. Shall we classify the particularly well-made alcohol even from those made from Sanctuary-grown ingredients as its own special class and adjust the sales numbers accordingly?」
「A splendid idea. Let’s treat the second-grade alcohol as the main export.」
When the topic turned to alcohol, both Madam Rosary and Madam Lumia were also quite enthused.
「Then I will speak to the Dwarves and Elves at the brewery on your behalf.」
「Thank you, Madam Rosary.」
After that, we discussed the progress of Lord Simon’s search for prospective civil servants, how many civil servants were needed, and decided that we should have a eting once a week.
Generally, I will participate, but in case I am unable to, Madam Rosary, Madam Lumia, and my three aides would take the lead and continue the eting.
