Now reading: Chapter 24 - 11: Strengthening the Zombie Beast2 from Sorry, But I Never Rely On Luck When Playing Cards, a Game novel by Fried Egg With Orange.

For so reason, there was an ominous feeling.

"Hey, hey, check this out!"

As expected, after a few seconds, Uncle Liu who was standing in front of the monitor let out aloud cry.

In the screen, the tender red giant Zombie Beast had already burst into the hall.

At this point, it was lying down on all fours, sniffing the ground with the two holes that were left after its nose had disappeared.

"How did this big guy get in!"

The Cook looked and his face imdiately turned pale.

He called this kind of thing a Strengthened Zombie Beast, its mobility far exceeded ordinary Zombie Beasts.

Once, at the outbreak of the Zombie Beast disaster, he had seen this guy almost catch up with a car on foot, able to make dents in cent walls while it remained unscathed.

"It’s coming, it’s coming, grass!"

Straw Man seed a bit excited and eager to give it a try.

"It feels like it’s searching for sothing purposefully..."

Ree Shil watched its trajectory, frowning slightly.

"It’s our scent!"

Uncle Liu gave the answer.

Sure enough, it didn’t take long for them to see the beast find the staff elevator.

In the silent screen, it raised its head as if to roar.

Then its head slamd down with great force, breaking open the steel door of the elevator shaft.

"Mushroom-licious! This thing is incredibly strong!"

"We’re done for, look at what you guys have brought!"

The scenes in the screen made Mossy Mushroom and the Cook cry out in shock.

"Prepare for battle."

Ree Shil once again pulled out his iron stick.

As for Straw Man, he seed even more indifferent, using the water dispenser next to him to heat water to make milk tea.

"Don’t panic, maybe it’s just a coincidence, it might not necessarily find us."

"The corridor was covered with water, and there is a fire door blocking the scent."

The words of the Cook sound more like self-comfort.

But the Strengthened Zombie Beast had already crawled into the elevator shaft.

It didn’t take long for it to appear in the corridor on Floor Three.

"It’s over, it really ca upstairs!"

The Cook’s face suddenly turned pale again.

The only escape route was blocked, so it was impossible to escape.

In the screen, the Strengthened Zombie Beast began sniffing with its head down again, and through the monitor, they could see it getting closer and closer to the fire door.

Uncle Liu gestured for everyone to be quiet, holding his gun with increasingly sharp eyes.

Ree Shil quietly walked to the side of the fire door, lifting his iron stick with both hands.

For a mont, the room beca quiet.

Only the strange gurgling sound could be heard.

That was Straw Man pouring his freshly brewed milk tea.

Bang!!!

The sudden impact broke the quiet atmosphere.

The Cook got a heart jolt and covered his mouth, not daring to make a sound.

Bang!!!

With the second impact, the door panel was knocked flying.

"Holy crap, Cute Mushroom!"

Mossy Mushroom was unable to dodge in ti and was knocked to the ground by the door panel.

If it wasn’t for the constitution boost of the card player, just this hit would have flattened and killed him.

[Gah!!!]

The Strengthened Zombie Beast stood at the door and let out a piercing scream at them.

Thud!!!

But it was t with a strong forceful blow from Ree Shil’s stick.

Thump!

The Strengthened Zombie Beast fell to the ground on the spot.

"So tough?"

The doubt in his mouth reflected his mood at the mont.

As soon as he hit it, he felt a different touch.

If it were those previous Zombie Beasts, their heads would have burst open by now.

But now it only looked like there was a slight dent in the Strengthened Zombie Beast’s head.

[Gah!!!]

Obviously, this wasn’t a fatal injury for a Zombie Beast.

"So annoying, grass!"

But imdiately after, a green figure jumped out.

[Ahh!]

The Strengthened Zombie Beast had just tried to get up when it was stepped on by its foot, being pushed back down again.

"Keep it down! Aim for the head!"

"Got it, grass!"

One person and one grass worked together, taking turns to hit and kick, not giving the enemy a chance to get up.

They persevered like this for a while, finally managing to crush the Strengthened Zombie Beast’s head.

"So tough, grass."

After dealing with the Zombie Beast, Straw Man went back to pick up his milk tea.

"So tired, grass."

Ree Shil shook his wrist.

"This..."

The cook was stunned.

"This was a strengthened zombie beast that could chase after cars and smash through walls. What did you say they were before?"

"Superpower users."

"I thought you were bluffing, but now I believe."

He touched his chest and took a deep breath.

After this strengthened zombie beast was dealt with, no other zombie beasts appeared during the rest of the rampage period.

However, since the fire door was blown open, the cook could no longer stay in his hideout.

He didn’t dare to follow Mr. Liu further, so he asked for the location of the dockside pavilion and decided to drive there himself.

Before parting ways, he wanted to use the ingredients he had to cook a delicious al for the four of them, but they refused, saying they were short on ti.

The two-hour peaceful period for zombie beasts was precious, and they needed to hurry on.

So they got on the fire truck, and the four of them set off again.

In the end, it took them an hour and a half, and who knows how many zombies they crushed with their truck before they finally arrived at their destination.

But when they saw the broken main gate of the hospital, Mr. Liu’s heart imdiately sank.

There was not even a shadow of a person, but there were several zombie beasts.

It was obvious that there were no survivors here.

After all, this was a hospital, not like the hotel where the cook was staying.

"Mr. Liu, where are we going?"

Seeing Mr. Liu bypassing the hospital building and heading to the back, Mossy Mushroom thought he was not giving up.

Mr. Liu: "There’s a research institute behind the building, and that’s where he lives."

Ree Shil: "Living in a research institute? Is he being studied?"

Mr. Liu: "Of course not!"

As they chatted, the four of them had already circled around the building.

A spacious open-air parking lot appeared before them.

At the end of the parking lot, there was a large iron gate leading to an underground area.

"What kind of research institute is built inside an air raid shelter?"

Mossy Mushroom was curious.

"The gate is closed, which ans everything inside should be fine. That’s great."

Mr. Liu, who was relieved, smiled happily.

He stepped forward and pressed the access button under the cara next to the gate.

[beep... beep... beep...]

There was silence for a while on the other side of the communication.

[Wow! This big beard zombie beast knows how to press the doorbell! You guys have to see this!]

Then, a surprised female voice ca from inside.

"... ahem, I’m not a zombie beast."

Mr. Liu awkwardly touched his beard, as if subtly criticizing his own ugly appearance.

[Huh? It really is a person! A survivor!]

[Sorry, sorry!]

[You wait a mont!]

After apologizing, the voice on the other side went silent again.

[Hurry in! It’s dangerous outside!]

After a while, the iron gate slowly opened a crack.

A few dark gun muzzles were sticking out directly.

"Huh? There’s more than one person?"

The soldier inside was a bit surprised.

"I’m an old subordinate of General Jones."

Mr. Liu raised his hands and stated his identity.

After checking their wounds for any signs of infection and confiscating their weapons, they were allowed to enter.

Once their identity was confird, the research institute staff did not give them any trouble.

A nurse led them to General Jones’s room.

"My commander’s daughter is the head of this research institute."

"So, he lives here and can receive the dical care from the institute."

As they walked, Mr. Liu introduced them to the situation.

In a short while, the four arrived at the door.

After a brief greeting, Mr. Liu went in alone.

At this ti, a panel finally popped up in front of Ree Shil and the others.

[Assist Mr. Liu in finding an old friend-1/1]

[Congratulations, mission completed]

[You have gained one card draw chance]

"Phew... It wasn’t easy."

Mossy Mushroom exhaled deeply: "But we earned 1 card draw chance, it’s worth it. As long as we stay here and survive the next 10 days, we are good to go."

"You’re pathetic, Grass."

However, his words imdiately received Straw Man’s disdain.

"I think... things won’t be that simple."

"This might be a mission chain, and new missions may appear next."

Ree Shil made a judgnt.

The three of them sat outside the door for about 30 minutes before Mr. Liu finally ca out.

A smile hung on his face, and he seed completely relieved.

But at this mont, a soldier approached them.

"The four of you, Headmaster Jones would like to see you."

The soldier said so.
