Now reading: Chapter 365 - 1 v 1 with the dragon again from Soulbound: Dual Cultivation, a Mature novel by raphakins855.

What followed was not rely a clash of power but a collision of pride, will, and grudges that had been reignited in the most hostile place imaginable. The mont the ice belle surged forward, the abyss itself seed to react, frost racing along the ground while shadows recoiled and twisted away from her presence. The shadow dragon answered her advance with a thunderous roar, wings beating with such force that violent currents of corrupted wind slamd into the walls of the passage and sent shards of blackened ice raining down.

They did not spare Lucas or Henrietta a single glance, as though the two of them had ceased to exist the instant the ice belle entered the dragon’s range. To them, this was no longer a battlefield with multiple opponents but a personal reckoning that demanded full attention. The ice belle’s small fra darted through the air with blinding speed, her movents precise and controlled, nothing like the reckless charge she had made earlier. Each wave of frost she unleashed carried condensed intent, layers of pure ice essence folding into one another until even the abyss air scread under the sudden drop in temperature.

The dragon countered with raw dominance, its claws tearing through space itself as it swiped at her, blue inferno clinging to its scales and leaving burning scars wherever it struck. "You should have stayed broken," the dragon snarled, its voice shaking the abyss as its tail smashed into the ground and sent shockwaves racing outward. "Your pride will be your undoing."

The ice belle laughed, the sound bright and sharp against the oppressive darkness, her eyes glowing with a cold light that reflected the dragon’s flas without fear. "Pride," she replied mockingly, weaving past a burst of inferno so close that the heat rippled her frost aura. "You are the one who has lived too long believing nothing could challenge you. I am simply here to correct that mistake."

Lucas watched intently, his fists clenched as spatial Qi churned beneath his skin, every instinct urging him to intervene even as he forced himself to remain still. He could feel the strain in the bond he shared with the ice belle, the violent exchange of energies threatening to destabilize the tunnel if either side lost control. Henrietta stood beside him, her breathing uneven but her eyes sharp, following every movent with the focus of a seasoned warrior who understood that one wrong step could cost them everything.

"This is dangerous," Henrietta murmured, her voice low as she glanced at Lucas without taking her eyes fully off the fight. "They are completely ignoring us."

Lucas nodded slowly, his jaw tight. "I know," he answered quietly. "But if I interrupt them now, I might break her rhythm. This is more than a battle of strength. She needs this."

The dragon suddenly lunged, its maw opening wide as condensed inferno gathered and compressed into a single devastating blast aid directly at the ice belle. She did not retreat. Instead, she thrust both palms forward, drawing deeply on the celestial essence now flowing naturally through her being, and an imnse wall of crystalline ice ford in an instant. The inferno slamd into it with explosive force, fire and frost colliding in a blinding flash that illuminated the abyss like a dying star.

The shockwave tore through the defense layers forcing Lucas to brace himself and wrap spatial Qi around both himself and Henrietta. When the light faded, the ice wall shattered into countless fragnts, but the ice belle stood unhard behind it, her expression sharp and triumphant. "Is that all," she taunted, frost spiraling around her like a living storm. "I expected more from the terror of the abyss."

The dragon roared in pure rage, its pride deeply wounded as shadows writhed violently around its massive form. "Enough," it thundered. "I will tear you apart piece by piece."

As it surged forward again, claws gleaming and inferno blazing brighter than before, Lucas felt it clearly then, the battle between them had surpassed strategy and survival and beco sothing far more dangerous. It had beco a contest of pride between two beings who refused to yield, and the outco would decide far more than who walked away alive.

Lucas did not move, not even when the violent fluctuations of power scraped against his senses and rattled the spatial anchors he had so carefully laid through the abyss. His eyes remained fixed on the battlefield ahead, calm on the surface yet burning with calculation beneath, because to him this was not recklessness but necessity. The ice belle was bound to him, yes, but she was not a fragile thing ant to be shielded from every danger. She was a growing existence, one that needed the pressure of true death battles to refine her instincts, sharpen her judgnt, and push her power beyond its current limits.

Henrietta understood this as well, even if every instinct in her scread to intervene. She folded her bloodied hands slowly, steadying her breathing as she watched the clash unfold, her heart pounding with equal parts fear and awe. "You are really going to let this continue," she said quietly, her voice heavy but not accusing, because she knew Lucas well enough now to understand that his decisions were never careless.

Lucas nodded once, his gaze never leaving the ice belle. "If I step in too early, I steal sothing from her that cannot be taught," he replied in a low voice. "She needs to learn how to read an enemy that outclasses her in raw power, how to adapt when brute force fails, and how to fight with restraint as much as fury."

Ahead of them, the battle intensified into sothing brutal and relentless. The shadow dragon surged through the air like a living calamity, its massive wings beating violently as torrents of blue inferno rained down in sweeping arcs. Each blast carved molten scars into the abyss floor, yet the ice belle danced through the destruction with growing precision, her movents no longer fueled by arrogance but by sharp awareness. Frost blood wherever she passed, sealing scorched ground and turning raging heat into brittle silence.

"You are slower than before," she called out, her voice ringing with taunting confidence as she slipped past a snapping jaw by the narrowest margin. "Is age finally catching up to you, lizard."

The dragon snarled, fury thick in its voice as shadows wrapped tighter around its form. "Watch your tongue, little spirit," it thundered. "I ruled this abyss before you were even conceived."

"Then you have grown complacent," she shot back instantly, slamming her palm into the air as compressed ice spears ford and launched toward its eyes with deadly accuracy.

The dragon barely twisted in ti, several spears shattering against its scales while one grazed its cheek, drawing a thin line of frozen blood that hissed angrily against its own inferno. The wound was shallow, but the insult was profound. Its roar shook the tunnel, shaking loose ancient dust and fragnts of corrupted stone as its killing intent surged to terrifying heights.

Henrietta felt her breath catch as the dragon retaliated, its tail smashing downward with enough force to collapse a small ridge of the abyss wall. The ice belle was sent skidding backward, her feet carving deep trenches into the ground as she struggled to stabilize herself. For a heartbeat, Henrietta’s eyes flicked to Lucas, searching his face for any sign that he would intervene.

He did not.

Instead, Lucas narrowed his eyes slightly, his senses locked onto the bond they shared, ready to act only if that bond scread danger beyond recovery. "She is learning," he murmured, more to himself than to Henrietta. "Look at how she recovers."

True to his words, the ice belle steadied herself almost instantly, frost condensing beneath her feet as she pushed back into the air, her aura sharper and more refined than it had been monts ago. There was no anger in her expression now, only focused intent, as if every exchange with the dragon was etching hard lessons directly into her core.

Henrietta exhaled slowly, her hands trembling as she watched. "She is changing," she said softly.

"Yes," Lucas answered without hesitation. "This is exactly what she needs."

They knew that unless the ice belle’s life truly hung by a thread, Lucas would not interfere, because sotis the greatest growth was forged not through protection but through the courage to let soone fight their own war.
