When Leo, Horo, Lily and Sonata left the cave, the first thing they saw was Nyx kneeling a few dozen feet away with her hands in the air, tears streaming down her face as Luna stood over her, axe on her shoulder and floating a nacing expression.
It was as if Nyx was being punished by a drill sergeant from hell. With a twitch of her ears, Luna turned back to see Horo and Sonata staring at her with dumbfounded expressions.
Leo had a cramped expression on his face while Lily nodded her head in understanding and sympathy. They had both found themselves in Nyx’s shoes more than once over the years after spending ti with Luna.
Luna perked an eyebrow as she coldly asked.
"What? You got a problem or sothing?"
Unaware that Nyx was mouthing the words ’Help ’ behind her back.
"No I do not!"
"I saw nothing wrong here sis!"
Lily and Leo imdiately turned their heads away from Nyx’s plight, acting as if they didn’t see anything. Horo let out a sigh and remarked
"Let’s go back to town. There are better ways to punish her. Like we could reduce her share of the loot or forbid her from having dessert during the little get together we are going to have after...What?"
All of the girls stared at Horo, their mouths agape in a mixture of shock and horror.
"You Monster! How could you even suggest such a cruel and inhumane punishnt!"
Lily growled, recoiling away from Horo, holding up Moku to act as a shield as if to use his cuteness to ward off an evil entity.
Moku, on the other hand, was so enraptured by the outside world that he had no idea what was going on. This was his first ti outside of the nest and he was excited as his butt wiggled with excitent.
Aria took a few steps away from Horo, acting as if she was afraid to be associated with him. Nyx in turn frowned and growled
"No way in hell! Kill before you do sothing cruel like that! Give Sweets or Give Death!"
Even Luna was appalled by the suggestion. She shook her head and put her axe away while floating a disbelieving expression directed at Horo.
"Even I am not that cruel."
Horo was stunned into silence seeing all the girls turn on him so quickly. He glanced towards Leo who shook his head as if to say ’I am not getting involved in this.’
He could only blink before he asked
"Am I being punked right now? What the fuck just happened?!"
Luna helped Nyx to her feet before Luna surprisingly gave Nyx a hug.
"I am so sorry about him. We all knew he was a bit dumb but to suggest sothing so cruel. I am sorry."
The group began to start walking back to the village, leaving Horo stunned in place as his brain failed to comprehend how he had suddenly beco the bad guy.
The trek back through the forest was relatively uneventful. The occasional wolf or Kobold attacked them as they made their way back to the village but it had beco so easy that nobody even broke a sweat.
It was after about 10 minutes of walking that Leo turned his head to look back at Lily. He could feel her gaze trying to burn a hole in the back of his head as they walked. She definitely wanted to ask him sothing but was contemplating on how to ask him.
"Lily. Can I help you?" He asked as he glanced at Horo who had caught up at so point and was in the middle of arguing with Nyx and Luna who had sohow ford an alliance against him.
While it was amusing to watch such drama unfold, he definitely had no intentions of stepping in as it was a definite possibility that he would catch a stray or two in the argunt.
"Those weapons you used against Enkiba... the guns. Do you think... maybe I could get sothing like that too?I think I could be more helpful to the group if I had sothing like that."
Lily hugged Moku tightly as she confessed what was on her mind. Lily felt like she had not contributed much during the dungeon raid except for the last fight. Even then, a lot of it had been due to the help of Moku. Without him, she would have been truly useless.
Leo sighed, it was clear what Lily’s was thinking as it was clearly written on her face. He then floated a smile and told her
"Yeah sure thing. Whatever you want. But it’s not because you were useless. In fact we probably wouldn’t have survived the fight against Genkiba without you. Enkiba too. Honestly, we would have treated Moku like a monster and killed him too if you hadn’t intervened."
Lily blinked in surprise, having been caught off guard by Leo’s candid opinion. She was truly flustered as she tried to co up with a rebuttal.
"B-But—"
"No Buts. What you did saved all of us. And that’s a fact."
Yet Leo would not let her finish. He turned to fully face her and look directly into her eyes. His gaze was steady and clear showing that he truly believed what he said. Feeling a wave of embarrassnt and joy from being acknowledged wash over her, Lily bowed her head and muttered in a small voice
"Thank you"
Before she ran off to join the Anti-Horo coalition. The dessert war criminal must pay! Apparently.
Sonata was soaring through the air, the wind rushing past her face felt incredibly refreshing after spending a couple hours in a dark, damp cave. The skies were clear as she flapped her wings, flying towards a setting sun. She had to admit her first day of freedom had truly been exciting.
She glanced down at her new friends who were playfully bickering like children and giggled to herself. If this was what the future had in store for her, she was all for it. The joy of having friends who did not care about how famous she was filled her heart with appreciation for them. As the faint lights of the village ca into view, Sonata couldn’t help but look forward to their next adventure.
