The ringing from the gunfire faded quickly, swallowed by the ambient hum of the cathedral’s corrupted air. The Demon of Faith didn’t even flinch. It tilted its head toward Leo and Lily with a jerking motion, as if tracking sound rather than sight. Several of its mouths began to whisper again, low and overlapping in a grotesque lullaby.

Leo narrowed his eyes and raised a hand. A faint shimr flickered across his irises as the system window opened before him.

Leo clicked his tongue sharply.

"Tch. Just as I thought."

He closed the analysis window, jaw tight. The numbers were concerning, but what mattered most was the word blinking beside the na.

Parasitized.

Another person, another soul twisted and hollowed out. There was no saving what stood in front of them.

"This used to be soone," Leo muttered, just loud enough for the others to hear. "But whatever they were... they’re gone now."

The Demon of Faith shifted again, tracking his voice. Its many mouths clicked and whispered, a chaos of sermons and mockeries blending together into a low, unsettling hum.

Leo raised his voice.

"No more skills. No spells. Do not use anything the System gave you. Normal attacks only."

Rachel paused mid-sprint. "You serious?"

"Yes. It is learning from every hit. Greg’s punch, your shadow blade, even its movent started shifting after Luna went in swinging. I’m not giving it more tools to work with."

Crystal frowned. "Should we even buff?"

"No," Leo said firmly. "None of it. We are not risking anything that could tip the fight. Aria, stay near Penny. Focus on protection."

Aria lowered her arms slowly, nodding once as she stepped behind Penny with both blades drawn. Her lips pressed into a thin line. She hated sitting back, but she understood the danger.

Greg raised his fists, the tal receding slightly. "So what do we use? Rocks?"

"Use anything physical. Tricks. Terrain. Just not System-based attacks."

Crystal tapped her finger thoughtfully, then conjured a thin layer of frost beneath the Demon’s feet. It was subtle, not aid at the monster, but the mont it stepped forward, it slipped slightly.

"Fine," she muttered. "No spells. Just science."

The Demon of Faith twitched, a wet, slithering motion as its heads bent backward at an unnatural angle, whispering gibberish into the air. Its spindly arms stretched outward, clawed fingers flexing in anticipation.

Leo did not wait.

"Go!"

Rachel moved first, sprinting across the cracked cathedral floor with her tail trailing behind her. She dropped low and swept her staff toward the demon’s leg, the blow landing with a heavy crack.

[-104]

The monster staggered slightly, but it retaliated imdiately, one of its mouths snapping open near its hip, trying to bite her arm. She twisted away just in ti.

Greg followed right after, moving like a juggernaut. His tal-covered fists drove into the creature’s chest with a sickening crunch, sending tremors through its fra.

[-222]

The impact pushed the abomination backward, but it made no sound of pain. Instead, one of its mouths let out a breathy, high-pitched laugh that did not belong to anything human.

Crystal stepped in next, calm and precise. Her longsword sliced cleanly across one of the demon’s arms.

[-191]

Black ichor spilled from the wound as the severed flesh writhed. Still no scream. Only more muttering, more whispers of twisted scripture from a different mouth near its neck.

Leo ca in from the side. His claws tore upward in a sharp arc, raking across the demon’s chest. Flesh split and sothing inside pulsed, but the system offered no response. No popup. No skill prompt. Just the sickening resistance of cutting through muscle and bone.

Then Luna arrived.

She did not slow down. Her axe rose high, then crashed down into the demon’s shoulder with a roar.

[-666!]

[Critical Strike!]

The force of the impact sent a shudder through creature. A mouth near its collarbone shrieked as bone cracked and the demon staggered under the weight of her strike.

She did not stop.

[-321]

[-194]

[309]

Luna spun and struck again, her axe biting into its side. Another swing carved into its thigh. Again. Again. She was relentless, her voice a growl, her eyes wild with fury.

"You do not get to live."

[-311]

The demon flailed wildly, claws scraping across her ribs and gouging her side, but she barely flinched. Blood trickled down her armor, but it did not slow her.

[-666]

[Critical Strike!]

Her axe buried itself deeper with each strike until finally it sank into the demon’s shoulder socket with a sickening crunch.

Every mouth scread. The sound echoed through the cathedral, rising into a wailing, distorted chorus that made the walls tremble.

Luna pulled her axe free and stepped back, breathing hard. Blood sared her arms, her jaw clenched tight.

"I’m fine. Keep going."

The Demon of Faith reeled from Luna’s relentless assault but quickly regained its balance. Its many mouths opened wide, emitting a low, guttural chant that filled the cathedral with an eerie resonance. The air thickened as the creature’s corrupted power surged.

Leo tightened his grip and hissed, "Brace yourselves. It’s about to strike back."

Rachel planted her staff firmly and spun, narrowly dodging a swipe from one of the demon’s clawed arms. The force of the blow cracked the stone floor where she had stood monts before.

Greg charged forward, fists raised, aiming a heavy blow at the creature’s head. The demon twisted suddenly, avoiding the punch, then lashed out with a long, sinewy tongue covered in a sticky, acidic saliva.

Crystal lunged, blocking the tongue with her longsword just in ti. The acid sizzled against the blade, but she held firm.

Adam moved with swift precision. His spider limb darted out, pressing the dagger deep into the demon’s sinewy tongue. With a quick pull, he sliced through the twisted flesh, severing the tongue before the acid could reach Crystal.

The demon hissed, a mixture of pain and rage bubbling beneath its many whispering mouths.

Adam didn’t hesitate. He lunged forward, dagger in hand, slashing across the demon’s flank and opening fresh wounds that dripped the sa black ichor.

[-275]

The creature staggered, its many heads twisting in confusion and fury. The corrupted air around it shimred as it fought to regain control.

Adam growled, "You’re not getting away."

He jabbed the dagger into one of the demon’s legs, aiming to cripple its movent.

[-198]

The Demon of Faith roared, its many mouths opening wide to release a chilling, discordant howl that echoed through the cathedral.

Leo slashed forward, his claws raking across the demon’s chest with brutal precision.

[-220]

"Hold steady!" Leo shouted. "Don’t let it recover!"

The group tightened their formation, each readying for the next wave of attacks.

Rachel spun her staff, aiming for another strike, while Luna gripped her axe tighter, ready to unleash more fury.

The fight was far from over.
