Elise’s screams only grew louder as her remaining forces were slaughtered. Her voice rose above the chaos in a furious, shrill howl.

"You don’t get to ignore ! You don’t get to forget !"

Black veins pulsed across her skin. The sli surrounding her snapped taut like muscles on the verge of tearing. Then it happened.

The remaining creatures staggered, limbs jerking like broken marionettes. One by one, they began to crawl toward her. Not to protect. Not to flee. To rge.

Flesh slamd against flesh. Bones cracked and fused. Screaming mouths lded together in a grotesque spiral of at. Claws and limbs and half-ford faces twisted around Elise, binding themselves to her in a mass of writhing bodies.

She laughed, high and broken, as her torso jutted from the top of the malford colossus. Her eye bulged. Her smile bled.

"You won’t take from . Not again. I am the one! One heart, one will, one voice!"

The beast lurched forward like a tidal wave of limbs. Elise’s head snapped toward Adam.

"You," she hissed. "You started this."

Then she launched.

Tentacles and limbs blurred through the air. Adam barely had ti to dodge as a sweeping claw tore a crater into the earth where he’d stood a second before. A second blow ca down like a hamr. He vaulted to the side, bone limbs scraping against the ground as he twisted his body midair.

"She’s faster now!" he barked, landing hard. "Bigger too!"

Elise’s eyes tracked him with hatred, teeth clacking together in unnatural rhythms.

"You ruined everything! The company was supposed to be mine!"

Another strike, this one wild and desperate. Adam moved to dodge again but it was too late.

Yet the blow never landed.

A sharp crack split the air as a concentrated blast of sound and air struck Elise across the face. Her head jerked back from the force, sli spraying sideways in a sloppy arc. The misshapen limb ant for Adam slamd into the ground just inches from him, missing his ribs by a breath.

He looked up in shock.

Aria stood nearby, lips parted, hand still outstretched. Her voice had stopped singing entirely. The lody was gone. All that remained was raw intent.

"You’re welco," she said.

"Remind to thank you later," Adam muttered, pushing himself back up.

Elise let out a scream so shrill it pierced bone. Her fused body writhed, shuddering with rage.

That was when Lily stepped forward.

She raised her rifle and aid straight at Elise’s face.

Then she fired.

Again.

And again.

And again.

Each bullet slamd into Elise’s rotting cheek or eye socket, doing little more than splatter sli and ruptured skin. The damage was nothing. But Lily did not stop.

Her hands trembled with fury. Her voice cracked with venom.

"You don’t get to smile like that. You don’t get to pretend you loved anyone."

Another shot.

"You don’t deserve a na like ’Companionship.’ You don’t deserve to breathe."

Another.

"You made a mockery of everything. You used them. You killed her"

Another.

"I hate you. I hate you. I hate you!"

She kept pulling the trigger long after the chamber clicked empty. Her hands never left the grip. Her eyes never blinked.

The others didn’t stop her.

They had no words for the fury pouring out of Lily, no answers for the raw grief hiding beneath it. Elise was still howling, still writhing atop the creature made from her own parasitic need, but Lily wasn’t shooting to kill. She was shooting to scream.

Penny crouched behind a cracked headstone, watching with wide eyes. Her lips parted, but no sound ca out. Even Moku was silent, clutched tightly to her chest.

Leo finally moved toward Lily. Not to stop her, but to touch her shoulder.

She shrugged him off without looking. Her rifle clicked again. Empty. Still, she pulled the trigger.

Crystal stepped up beside Adam, wiping ichor from her blade with a grim flick of her wrist.

"We need to move," she said, voice low.

"Yeah," Adam said, his voice steady but tight. "But we wait for her to finish."

Another click. Another pull.

Lily’s voice was quieter now. Still shaking. Still furious.

"I won’t stop until we put her in the ground or she puts there!"

She raised her head to glare at the monster.

"You never wanted anyone other than yourself. You used people like they were cheap toys!"

Elise hissed, her smile twitching, stretching unnaturally as if her face couldn’t decide if it wanted to laugh or cry.

"I gave them aning," she croaked. "They were nothing before . I made them whole. I gave them purpose."

Lily lowered her rifle, but her eyes never left Elise.

"You broke them," she whispered.

Aria began to hum again. Low. Steady. A quiet thread of lody beneath the noise.

The tide was shifting.

The fused body of the monster twitched, recoiled. It had grown massive, but sothing inside it was shaking. Not from pain. but from fear!

Elise could finally sense it, there was no chance that she would be able to kill any of these insects today and she needed to escape.

The fused body of the demon suddenly convulsed violently. A low, guttural roar built into a deafening explosion of sli, flesh, and bone. The shockwave slamd outward, tearing up dirt and shattering nearby gravestones. Everyone was thrown off balance.

"Take cover!" Adam shouted as they all dove behind the broken tombstones, shielding themselves from flying debris.

Dust and bits of flesh filled the air. The garden fell eerily silent for a mont.

Then, from the steaming ruin of the monstrous mass, a figure began to crawl.

Elise.

Her twisted body was torn and ragged, sli oozing from fresh wounds. She moved slowly, dragging herself forward with agonized effort, her one bulging eye fixed on sothing ahead.

Behind a cracked gravestone, Penny pressed herself flat, clutching Moku tightly. Her breath hitched as Elise’s eye locked onto her.

"Elise..." Penny whispered.

The demon’s cracked lips curled into a twisted smile as she dragged herself closer.

"Penny," Elise croaked, voice ragged but desperate. "Family... I am your aunt. You should help escape."

Penny’s fingers clenched tighter around Moku’s soft fur. Her eyes flickered, haunted by mories she tried to bury.

"Family," Elise repeated, voice pleading. "You know what it ans to be alone. You’ve been alone for so long. I am the only one left who cares for you. Help ... Help your aunt."

Penny hesitated. Shadows crossed her face as mories of cold silences, empty promises, and broken hos pressed in.

The only person who had ever truly been there for her was Adam.

She swallowed hard, torn between the blood she barely rembered and the loyalty she felt for the man who fought beside her now.

However, it was at that mont that Penny finally made her choice. Penny lowered her head as she began to speak slowly.

"Hey...Auntie Elise....I have 3 words to say to that now..."

Elise smiled as she expected her ek and cowardly niece to go along with her whims...or she would kill her now instead of later. Yet she didn’t expect to see the fire in the young girls eyes as she raised to stare back at her with a middle finger raised.

"Go. Fuck. Yourself"

Penny growled with a smirk as a golden light shone down on her in the dimly lit cetery
