"Alright Boys. Cleaning ti is over. Now Get out!" Penny growled with her cheeks flushed, using her dainty hands to throw punches at Adam in an attempt to get them out faster.
Adam had a conflicted expression on his face as the blows felt like he was being beaten with cotton puffs. It didn’t hurt him physically but for so reason he felt so ntal anguish. His eyes scanned the room as he tried to find out why his niece was acting like this.
Aria had a wry smile on her face as she looked at the violence(?) being inflicted upon him. However, he knew that she wouldn’t tell him after how Penny had reacted before. Crystal seed a bit lost, her mind was clearly on sothing else.
Luna’s eyes were stern as she seed to be too engrossed in double checking that the house was clean. Plus asking her about why Penny was sothing that didn’t sit well with Adam for so reason.
Vivian wasn’t soone who knew Penny at all and from what he had heard from the others, she was practically a child rcenary so matters of the heart were definitely not her specialty.
His gaze shifted to Morgan. They were a detective so he probably had an idea, right? However they simply smiled and shook their head, wordlessly telling him ’Don’t ask . I won’t tell you.’
"Fine. Fine. We’re going. Sheesh" he grumbled as he started walking to the front door as Penny tried to make him move faster by pushing his back. Leo’s tail twitched as he glanced at Ethan who like him seed eager to flee this situation as well.
He started toward the front door with Penny shoving at his back like a shepherd herding stubborn sheep. Her face was still red, but she said nothing. Leo’s tail twitched as he gave Ethan a glance. Both of them seed equally desperate to escape.
"How about we crash at the gym?" Leo suggested, rubbing the back of his neck. "Get a bit of exercise in before calling it a night."
Greg perked up imdiately, his expression lighting up like soone had just handed him a birthday present. "Finally, sothing productive. I’m in."
Morgan stretched his arms behind his head and yawned. "Yeah, that doesn’t sound half bad. Beats standing around waiting for the next awkward silence. Plus sticking around for girl talk is not my idea of a good ti."
Leo nodded his head in agreent at Morgan’s words
Lily threw a suspicious look towards Morgan and Leo. Morgan’s androgynous beauty and Leo’s cute appearance alone would not be out of place at a girl’s slumber party. However, she had no intention of getting either of them to stick around.
Ethan threw his hands up. "There’s no way I’m staying here alone with the girls. I like living, thanks."
Vivian glared at him, her tail flicking in irritation. "Relax. You weren’t invited to stay anyway."
Ethan raised his brows. "Good. Then I’m free." He was the first to bolt for the door, muttering sothing about escaping from "the demon’s domain" as he went. "Sweet freedom, even if it’s only for one night!"
Leo snorted. "Coward."
Adam followed him out, closing the door behind them with a tired sigh. As the cool night air hit him, he glanced at Leo. "Do you think he realizes the odds are that he’s going to get his ass handed to him in the morning, right?"
Leo’s expression didn’t shift. His golden eyes were flat, calm, and utterly unimpressed. "Do you really think that guy thinks?"
Adam stopped walking for a mont, then slowly nodded, as if accepting a universal truth. "Fair point."
Greg was already a few steps ahead of them, stretching his shoulders with a grin that reached his eyes. It had been a while since he’d felt genuinely excited to train. The past few days had been filled with stress, strange events, and awkward dynamics. Hitting sothing like a heavy bag sounded like the best kind of therapy right now.
"Finally, so real training," he said to himself, cracking his knuckles. "Been too long since I broke a sweat for sothing other than running from monsters or drama."
Morgan followed at an easy pace, his coat swaying behind him as he adjusted his collar. His steps were quiet, but there was a faint air of amusent in his movents. The illusions and mories that echoed in his mind were nothing like the entertainnt that ca from spending ti with these people.
When they reached the threshold, Morgan stopped. The others kept walking, but he turned back toward the house. The light spilling through the window frad the girls inside, Penny still puffed up and clearly muttering under her breath.
"Hey," Morgan called out.
Lily looked up from where she was tidying the table. "What is it?"
"If my little brother shows up, tell him I’ll be at the gym tonight."
Lily’s expression darkened just a fraction. The others didn’t notice, but her eyes flickered with mild irritation. She hesitated before giving a reluctant nod. "Alright. I’ll tell him."
Morgan smiled faintly. "Appreciate it."
He gave a casual wave to the group inside. "Good night, everyone."
As he stepped out and shut the door behind him, the air grew noticeably quieter inside. The girls lingered for a mont, listening to the distant sound of footsteps fading into the distance.
Penny finally exhaled and leaned against the wall. "I didn’t think they’d ever leave."
Lily chuckled softly. "You can’t bla them for wanting to stay clear of our angry little Rose"
Penny’s face turned red again, and she pointed at Lil accusingly. "I wasn’t angry! I just... wanted them out."
Aria’s lips curved up into a small grin as she teased "Is it because you want to talk about sothing that rhys with glove~?"
"Aria!" Penny squeaked, covering her face.
Aria’s laughter filled the room, light and musical, and even Luna allowed herself a small smile. The tension that had filled the air monts ago began to dissolve.
Rachel ca down at that mont from cleaning the bathroom again with a resentful glare on her face. The boys had left without saying goodbye to her! The girls also were talking cheerfully, having completely forgotten about her. She ntally took a note of this and swore she would have her revenge!
The only one who noticed Rachel’s resentnt was Arachne who only glanced up from her book before returning to reading.
Outside, the night stretched quiet and cool. The boys made their way toward the gym, their silhouettes illuminated by the pale moonlight. Leo and Adam walked side by side, neither saying much. Ethan was a few paces ahead, clearly intent on not looking back.
With the gym just ahead of them, Leo could only hope that that the night was uneventful.
However, Life had other plans.
