Jace lazy opened his eyes as he looked over at his side table. His communication watch was ringing with a ssage. He looked to his right at the nude body of Vana cuddled up against him. While to his left was the nude and feathered body of Nila, who was making cooing noises. It was kind of cute in its own way.
He leaned over Nila and answered his communication watch, "yeah this is Spectre Jace."
"Spectre Jace, there is a long range secure communication request from Vexical space. Your director wishes to speak with you. Co up here with your second in command." The person on the other end told him. Then the call ended.
Jace sighed and brought a hand down on Nila’s ass. She moaned in response. "Stop faking, I know you are both awake. Nila, get up, we are needed." Jace told her as climbed over her and moved to get his clothes on. He could hear her mumbling as he pulled on so loose clothing.
"Don’t you need your uniform?" Nila pointed out as she began getting dressed in the workout clothes she tossed away yesterday.
"Nope." Jace answered, "if it is the director she will not care. Besides, aside from formal events we rarely have to put on those stuffy clothes. A Spectre even less so." Jace inford her as he pulled on his clothes, covering his body getting an annoyed click from Nila.
"Fine." Nila grumbled.
They finished getting dressed and left the room. A few minutes later they were walking through the ship. They soon arrived at the bridge where they were requested to go. The staff on duty were the night staff so not even General Isaiah was here.
"Nightshift?" Nila asked, "I did not even realize when we ca here. How did I miss that?" Nila made an annoyed clicking sound.
"Because you were staring at my ass the entire ti." Jace pointed out, getting a chuckle from so of the officers on the bridge nightshift. "We are ready for communication." Jace announced as he stood in front of the war holotable.
"Connecting you now, Spectre." A bridge officer answered.
There was a mont of static on the holotable before an image of Director Fenrir appeared behind a desk. She looked up from her desk, "Spectre Jace and... this is?"
"Nila, she is my second in command of the Cerberus Squad." Jace waved at the accer next to him. "Apparently she had a thing for even before this unit was set up." Jace sighed, "but she is the most capable of the soldiers they provided."
He could hear clicking noises coming from Nila. "Good. There are a few things. The first thing is about one of your forr lovers. Salem Wintry has escaped prison with the two mbers of the Union that you brought in."
Jace raised an eyebrow, "Okay... not exactly a surprise. I doubted any of us really expected a prison to hold her. This could have been a simple ssage." Jace sighed as he brought a hand up to rub his temple in fake version of annoyance, "Were we able to get anything out of her before she escaped or was it all for nothing?"
"Only a few days after they arrived there was a prison in the secure political holding block where they were held." Director Fenrir split her attention between talking and doing work. "The Warden was forced to split all of the occupants into other blocks while they made repairs, in addition the rooms they used for enhanced interrogation had all been ’down’, I have sent so agents to The Alcatraz to investigate everything."
"You are suspicious that they took too long to interrogate the prisoners." Jace began explaining the directors thoughts aloud. "You think there is a sympathizer aboard The Alcatraz who assisted in their escape."
"I do indeed. But like you said that all could have just been a ssage." The Director then pulled out sothing, "I have been inford that your squad is already down a mber. Apparently they were injured and then died before you even arrived on the Victorium’s capital planet of Yati."
Jace glanced to his side to see Nila flinch and then speak up, "Yes they unfortunately died under my command. I apologize for my failure in commanding Spectre Jace’s soldiers in his absence." She slightly lowered her head as a form of apology.
"Why aren’t you this composed when I talk to you as your commander?" Jace asked, getting a sharp elbow pushed into his gut. While Director Fenrir burst into laughter.
"Probably because you fuck the ’sense’ right out of her! Hahaha!" She continued laughing for another mont, as Jace could see so on the bridge who were listening had also quietly chuckled, before composing herself. "I apologize for that, you are fine umm... I do not know the official title attached to your na..."
"It is just Nila, rather than ranks most of us in the Victorium are recognized by deeds." Nila explained. "So just addressing us by the na we provided will be fine."
"Thank you for the explanation." Director Fenrir nodded and then turned her attention to Jace, "As I was saying. You have an open spot on your squad. I already have a few candidates and I already received permission to put another Vexical soldier into the position. I do not know if you know this but it is coming around to the next set of students to arrive."
Jace blinked for a mont before bursting into laughter, "Hahaha! I completely forgot! So does that an you will be sending us a Cadet?" Jace asked as his eyes twinkled with amusent. It had almost been an entire year since he left the academy but during that short ti, so many things had happened. He and the others who were once part of the Coble Squad had all probably undergone complete transformations.
"Affirmative, you do not have to worry about his loyalty though since he was born and raised in the Echo System." Director Fenrir began explaining, "I will send him as soon as- KZZKARKK!"
