"I know,"

Mira said in a low voice. "The training ground is all talking about you."

"Talking about what? That I'm ruthless and vicious? That I only hit below the belt?"

Mira's face reddened and she didn't answer.

Lynx smiled: "It's fine. They're right. In this place, if you're not ruthless, you can't survive."

Mira raised her head and looked at him for a while, then suddenly said: "But you are different from them."

"How am I different?"

"You said 'thank you'."

She paused. "And… the way you look at people is not as… empty as them."

Lynx's heart moved.

This woman had quite sharp observation skills.

"Maybe because I died once,"

He said half-jokingly. "A person who survived the whipping rack sees things more clearly."

Mira nodded, seeming to accept this explanation.

She turned around, took a small clay jar from the shelf, and handed it to Lynx: "Take this. Apply it on the bruises before sleeping every day. It will heal faster."

Lynx took the clay jar: "How much?"

"No need for money,"

Mira shook her head. "I picked the herbs myself. They're not worth anything."

Lynx didn't refuse and accepted it.

He took out a denarius from his bosom — the reward money Batiatus gave him yesterday — and placed it on the table.

"The dicine can be free, but the goodwill must be accepted."

Mira looked at the shiny silver coin and was stunned.

One denarius was enough to buy a lot of things.

"This… is too much…"

"Not too much,"

Lynx stood up. "Your dicine is worth this price, and…"

He paused. "I may need to trouble you again in the future."

After saying that, he turned and left the dical room.

Mira stood in front of the table, looking at the denarius, then at the closed door, her eyes complex.

In the following days, Lynx went to the dical room to change dicine every day after training.

Mira didn't talk much, but her bandaging technique was very skilled. She would carefully check the recovery of the injury every ti.

Sotis Lynx would chat with her a few words, ask about herbs, or listen to her talk about the injuries of other gladiators in the training ground.

As they gradually beca familiar, they talked more.

"How did you learn dicine?"

One day while changing the dicine, Lynx suddenly asked.

Mira's hands didn't stop moving. She said softly: "My father used to be the herbalist in the village. I learned so from him when I was young. Later… the village was burned by the Romans. I was sold here. Master Batiatus saw that I knew so herbs, so he let take care of the injured gladiators."

She spoke very calmly, but Lynx heard the pain behind it.

"I'm sorry."

Mira shook her head: "It's all in the past. At least here, I can still save people."

Lynx looked at her lowered side profile and suddenly rembered a story he had heard in his previous life.

"In my eastern hotown, there is a legend," he began. "It is said that a pair of lovers who loved each other could not be together because of family opposition. In the end, they both died for love and turned into a pair of butterflies, together forever."

Mira raised her head, her eyes flashing with curiosity: "Butterflies?"

"Yes,"

Lynx continued. "The girl was called Zhu Yingtai. She was smart and brave. She disguised herself as a man to study and t the boy Liang Shanbo. The two studied together for three years and had good feelings, but Liang Shanbo never knew that Zhu Yingtai was a girl…"

He slowly told the story of Liang and Zhu, from classmates to separation, from proposing marriage to refusal, and finally to dying for love and turning into butterflies.

Mira listened very seriously. Her hands even stopped moving.

When she heard that Zhu Yingtai jumped into Liang Shanbo's tomb and the two turned into butterflies and flew away, her eyes turned slightly red.

"They… finally got together?"

She asked softly.

"Yes, they turned into butterflies and stayed together forever."

Mira lowered her head and was silent for a while before continuing to bandage: "It's really a… beautiful story. Although the ending is sad, at least they finally got together."

Lynx looked at her: "Do you think they were stupid? To die for love."

Mira thought for a mont and shook her head: "Not stupid. If they can't be together while alive, being together after death… is also a kind of happiness."

After saying that, she realized what she had said. Her face reddened and she quickly lowered her head: "The dicine is changed. Co again tomorrow."

Lynx stood up and smiled: "Thank you, Mira."

Leaving the dical room, Lynx walked on the way back to his cell, thinking in his heart.

Mira was a kind and innocent woman, and she had a good impression of him.

But he couldn't rush. He had to take it slow.

Just as he was thinking, he ran into Lucretia head-on.

She was wearing a dark green long skirt today, her hair styled very delicately, and her makeup was gorgeous.

Seeing Lynx coming from the direction of the dical room, she raised an eyebrow.

"Injured again?"

Lucretia slowly approached, her tone unreadable.

"Minor injury, changing dicine."

Lucretia looked him up and down, her gaze stopping on his bandaged arm. She suddenly smiled: "Mira that girl's skills are good, right? Gentle and careful. Is she much more considerate than this half-old woman like ?"

There was a thorn in these words.

Lynx heard it, but his face remained unchanged: "Madam is joking. Miss Mira is a healer. It's her duty."

"Duty?"

Lucretia sneered and got closer, lowering her voice. "I heard you have been going to the dical room every day recently, staying for half a day each ti. What, have you taken a fancy to that girl?"

Lynx looked at her: "Is Madam jealous?"

", jealous?"

Lucretia laughed coldly. "You are worthy? I'm just reminding you that Batiatus hates his subordinates ssing around the most, especially with people from the dical room — if any gossip spreads and affects the gladiators' condition, he will be unhappy."

"Thank you for the reminder, Madam."

Lynx said flatly. "I will pay attention."

Lucretia stared at him for a few seconds, then her tone suddenly turned soft and charming: "However… if you really want a woman, there is a way. Tonight… the old place?"

She was talking about the bathhouse.

Lynx quickly weighed it in his heart.

He couldn't cut off the line with Lucretia. She was pregnant now.

Although it was still unknown, she would know sooner or later.

He had to stabilize her.

"Okay,"

He nodded. "Tonight."

Lucretia smiled with satisfaction and reached out to straighten his collar: "That's right. Rember, what I can give you is much more than that little girl."

After saying that, she turned and left, her skirt swaying.

Lynx looked at her departing back, his eyes sinking.
