"Lin x,"

Mira was a bit hesitant, but still asked, "Can I ask you a question?"

"Ask."

"You… what exactly are you?"

Mira looked at him, her eyes serious. "You are different from other gladiators. The way you speak, the way you look at things, even the way you fight… are all different from us. You seem… not to belong here."

Lynx's heart shook violently.

This woman's observation ability was too sharp.

How should he answer?

Say he is a transmigrator?

Say that the world she is in is just a TV drama?

He couldn't.

"I co from a very far place."

Lynx thought for a mont and finally said, "A place you have never heard of. The people there… think differently."

"Will you go back?"

"I can't go back."

Lynx shook his head. "That place, I can never go back."

When he said this, there was real loneliness in his tone.

Mira sensed it and gripped his hand tightly.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked."

"It's fine."

Lynx smiled. "Anyway, this place is my ho now. With you, with Gisco, with Amir… with these people who are willing to believe in ."

Mira also smiled. This ti the smile was very warm.

The two chatted for a while more. Mostly Mira spoke, talking about how she learned dicine from her father when she was young, about her hotown village, about those days that could never be returned to.

Lynx listened quietly, occasionally interjecting a few words, asking about the effects of herbs, asking how she distinguished different illnesses.

Ti slowly passed.

The oil lamp was almost dry. The fla beca smaller and smaller.

Marcus turned over on the bed in the corner and made a vague murmur in his sleep.

Mira got up to check on him, covered him with the blanket, and sat back down.

"He is sleeping very soundly."

"He should be clearer tomorrow."

"Mm."

Lynx nodded. "Mira, starting tomorrow, you have to be careful. If Batiatus or the kitchen people ask about Marcus's condition, just say he hasn't woken up yet and his condition is unstable. Don't let them see through it."

"I know. You also be careful. I heard… Crixus is unpredictable. Don't trust him too much."

"I have my own judgnt."

The two looked at each other and both saw worry in each other's eyes.

The moonlight was brighter. It slanted in through the window and cast a patch of silver white on the ground.

Mira suddenly stood up, walked to the window, and looked at the moon outside.

"The moon is really round tonight."

Lynx also walked over and stood beside her.

The courtyard was empty. Moonlight poured down like water, dyeing everything silver.

The distant walls cast long shadows, like fences.

"Doesn't it look like a cage?"

Lynx suddenly said.

Mira turned to look at him.

"This training ground, this city, even this country."

Lynx looked at the moon. "Sotis I feel that we are all locked in a huge cage. So people make the rules, so people follow the rules, so people are crushed to death by the rules."

"Then what about you?"

Mira looked into his eyes. "Do you want to break this cage?"

"I do."

"But just thinking about it is not enough. You need strength. So I want to win the performance match, get my freedom, survive, and beco stronger. Strong enough… that no one can lock in a cage again."

When he said this, his voice was very calm, but Mira heard the determination in his words.

She looked at his side profile illuminated by the moonlight and suddenly felt her heart beating very fast.

This man was different from everyone she had seen before.

He doesn't accept fate, doesn't compromise. He is like a sharpened sword. Even if pressed under a stone, he will pierce through the stone and point to the sky.

"Lynx,"

Mira said softly. "No matter what you do, I will support you."

Lynx turned to look at her.

Under the moonlight, her face was very soft. Her eyes were as bright as stars.

"Even if I might die?"

"You won't die."

Mira shook her head, her tone firm. "You promised to take away. You can't break your promise."

"I will."

Lynx said seriously.

"Then…"

Mira bit her lip, as if she had made a big decision. "Then tonight… I want…"

She didn't finish, but the aning was already very clear.

Lynx looked at her.

Under the moonlight, her face was delicate and clean. Her eyes were clear and carried a bit of shy bravery.

Completely different from Lucretia's mature charm, and also different from the numbness or scheming of other won in the training ground.

She was clean.

Clean like this moonlight.

Lynx reached out and gently touched her cheek.

Mira's body trembled, but she didn't dodge.

She closed her eyes. Her eyelashes trembled slightly.

"Mira,"

Lynx said with pity in a low voice. "You don't have to do this. I will definitely keep my promise to you. I don't need you to trade your body for it."

Mira opened her eyes and looked at him. She shook her head slightly: "I'm not… I'm not doing this to make you keep your promise. I… I want it myself."

She moved a small step forward, almost sticking to his chest. Her voice beca even lower: "Lynx, I'm afraid. I'm afraid that after tomorrow, I won't see you again. I'm afraid you will die. I'm afraid I will suddenly die one day. In this place, people die too easily, like grass…"

Her eyes reddened and her voice choked: "I don't want… I don't want to die without leaving anything. At least… at least tonight, I want to rember sothing good. Do you understand?"

Lynx understood.

In this precarious purgatory, a little warmth, a little real emotion, might be all that supports a person to live on.

He stopped talking.

He reached out and held Mira's waist.

Mira's body stiffened for a mont, then softened. She leaned into his arms.

Her face was pressed against his chest. She could hear his steady heartbeat.

Lynx lowered his head and kissed her lips.

Very light, very soft.

Mira was stunned at first, then responded clumsily.

Her lips were soft, with a slightly bitter herbal taste.

Her hands unconsciously grabbed the clothes on his back. Her breathing beca rapid.

Lynx deepened the kiss.

His hand slid from her waist to her back. He could feel her body trembling.

Mira was thinner than he imagined. Her fra was small. Holding her felt like holding a frightened little bird.

After a long ti, their lips parted.

Mira panted, her face flushed red, her eyes wet as she looked at him.

Just as Lynx wanted to go further, Mira reached out and grabbed his clothes, her voice as small as a mosquito: "Go… go inside. Here… Marcus is here."

There was a small compartnt inside the dical room. It was where Mira usually rested. It was very small, only enough for a narrow bed and a small cabinet.

Lynx turned his head and glanced at Marcus, then eagerly followed Mira inside.

After Mira closed the door, she stood there, her fingers nervously twisting her clothes hem, not daring to look at him.

This ti Lynx didn't give her a chance to speak. He kissed her again, and at the sa ti his hand slipped under the hem of her coarse cloth clothes.

Mira's body suddenly tensed. A soft whimper ca from her throat, but she didn't resist.

Her hands hesitated and finally wrapped around his neck, responding clumsily.

Clothes fell one by one, piling up on the grass under the olive tree.

Moonlight poured down without any cover, shining on Mira's fair body.

She was so shy that she wanted to cover herself with her hands, but Lynx held her wrists and gently pulled them away.

"Don't cover it,"

He said with fiery eyes. "It's beautiful."

Mira's face beca even redder. She shyly closed her eyes, not daring to look at him.

Lynx leaned down and kissed from her forehead all the way down: eyes, nose tip, lips, chin, neck, collarbone…

Mira's body trembled under his lips. Her breathing beca more and more chaotic.

Her hands unconsciously grabbed his hair. Her fingertips dug into his scalp. It hurt a bit, but more was numbness.

"Lynx… don't…"

The voice was soft and trembling. It was more of an invitation than a refusal.

"If it hurts, bite ."

After an unknown amount of ti.

Both of them were panting, covered in sweat, holding each other tightly.

Moonlight filtered through the leaves of the olive tree and cast mottled light on their bodies.

After a long ti, Mira finally ca back to her senses.

She looked at Lynx, her little face reddened again, and said in a small voice: "Should we… go back?"

"No rush."

Lynx didn't move and continued to hold her. "Stay a little longer."

Mira didn't say anything more. She quietly lay on his chest, listening to his heartbeat.
