Among those soldiers, the most noticeable was not the one-ard Guo Liang, but rather a middle-aged general who looked around fifty. His height was strikingly apparent, coupled with an imposing expression that inspired a slight sense of reverence among those who looked at him. The soldiers around him seed like stars surrounding their leader.
This man was none other than Qin Biao, commander of the Yanjing Military Region, a mber of the military commission, known as the "Northeast Tiger." He had a robust and commanding presence, an impressive figure of the Huaxia military’s hawkish faction. Despite nearing seventy, he appeared to be just in his early fifties. Rumor had it that if he were transferred to the Lingnan Military Region, the South China Sea might have already erupted in conflict. Note: Lu Yihang, commander of the military sub-district, is not on the sa level as Qin Biao, as the regional commander manages the military across several provinces.
Seeing Xiao Lin getting out of the car, Qin Biao took quick steps forward with a rare smile on his face as he approached Xiao Lin, "It’s only been two years, and you don’t co to Yanjing to visit your big brother anymore?"
Even Guo Liang from Dragon Soul was stunned upon hearing this. He knew Qin Biao’s status, promoted to general two years ago, he entered the military commission’s rank, and oversaw a major military region. An ordinary person wouldn’t dare to breathe loudly in front of him. Even Guo Liang himself, although deeply respected by Qin Biao, never received a smile. Yet now, Qin Biao was not only here to see him off personally but also greeted with a smile, calling himself an old brother, putting himself on equal footing with Xiao Lin.
Even the current Soul Master of Dragon Soul wouldn’t receive such treatnt from Qin Biao. Of course, Xiao Lin was highly respected in Dragon Soul, but definitely not above the Soul Master.
Xiao Lin seed used to Qin Biao’s affectionate term and could only give a helpless smile at Qin Biao’s teasing, "Uncle Qin, please don’t tease . You’re so busy every day, how could I dare to disturb Uncle Qin’s work!" Xiao Lin felt quite helpless about Qin Biao’s appearance, knowing his straightforward and domineering personality, but didn’t expect him to be alard into attention.
"You brat, if it weren’t for my inspection at the air force base yesterday, I wouldn’t have known you’re in Yanjing. Xiao Lu didn’t even give a heads up. Is there anything good inside lately? Could you stir sothing up for ?" Qin Biao, towering half a head over Xiao Lin and massive in stature, exhibited none of the airs of a regional commander, patting Xiao Lin’s shoulder heartily, the force would surely make an average person wince in pain.
Xiao Lin knew he couldn’t speak to Qin Biao with formal replies, and Qin Biao’s grip was indeed strong, leaving his shoulder aching from the pat. This old man, though seemingly happy with him, was likely interested in sothing new from Dragon Soul. Xiao Lin responded helplessly, "I’m not very sure. I haven’t been back to Dragon Soul for several months. If you need sothing, might as well report directly to the military commission?"
"If I could report it to the military commission, would I still be looking for you?" Qin Biao dismissively dragged Xiao Lin so ten ters away, speaking in a low voice, "Tell the truth, can you get it? What conditions are needed? I will fully cooperate!"
Qin Biao seed so earnest that Xiao Lin was a bit moved, but so things in Dragon Soul couldn’t be casually exposed. Without a consensus from above, it was impossible to let out, and he had to respond regretfully, "Uncle Qin, the terms are indeed generous, but I simply can’t make the call!"
Xiao Lin’s refusal piqued Qin Biao’s curiosity even more. The last ti he asked Xiao Lin for sothing new, those terms weren’t even conditions for Xiao Lin. Even the terms offered this ti weren’t true conditions for Xiao Lin, but his firm refusal was unusual, making Qin Biao more intrigued by what Dragon Soul currently possessed.
"What on earth is it? Can you at least give an idea?" Qin Biao knew once Xiao Lin refused, there was no use in trying to persuade him, so he opted to gather so information to find other avenues.
"You’re neither in the South Sea Fleet nor in the Lingnan Military Region, telling you would be useless!" Xiao Lin chuckled, saying.
This remark was ant for a wise person. Despite Qin Biao’s burly appearance, those who could reach his position were no ordinary individuals. He imdiately understood that Xiao Lin wasn’t slighting him, the ssage within the words was abundant, leaving Qin Biao montarily perplexed, before he chuckled, "You’re becoming more like that little girl, back in the day people were more genuine!"
"..." Xiao Lin rolled his eyes at him, then said seriously, "By the way, I have a comrade’s sister in Yanjing recently. If there’s anything Guo Liang can’t handle, please keep an eye out for them!"
"Sure, if you’re asking, it must be important. But what could Guo Liang possibly not handle in the entire Yanjing City? Especially since you’re so acquainted with the Hua family!" Qin Biao responded.
"Just know so things in your heart, that’s all!" Xiao Lin didn’t elaborate further.
The two exchanged a few more casual words, and although Qin Biao tried hard to extract information from Xiao Lin, not a single word was leaked. With his goal reached, Qin Biao then said, "Alright, since there’s nothing more, knowing you have urgent matters, go ahead and board the plane!"
"Right, about this plane, I’ll probably need it for a while. Is that okay?" The Jingliang Provincial sub-region also falls within the Yanjing Military Region’s jurisdiction, well within Qin Biao’s authority. With his word, many things would proceed much smoother.
"No problem, sa as last ti, I’ll allocate five helicopters for you. As for the military hospital’s matters, you’re probably more familiar with them than I am, do handle it as you see fit. Anything else needed?" Qin Biao agreed readily, not finding Xiao Lin’s requests surprising.
"Not for now, we’ll discuss it if sothing cos up later!"
They had reached the helicopter by this point, Xiao Lin beckoned to Tong Tong in the distance, then turned back to Qin Biao and said, "Don’t forget!"
"I won’t!" Qin Biao chuckled.
As for Tong Tong, she was already stunned on the sidelines. She vaguely knew Xiao Lin was impressive but never imagined he went as far as this, chatting with a powerful general as if he were an ordinary friend. Just what kind of influence did Xiao Lin have?
It wasn’t until Guo Liang nudged her that Tong Tong snapped back to reality, quickly approaching Xiao Lin, this ti not daring to lift her head. (To be continued. If you like this work, please visit Qidian (qidian) to vote for recomndations and monthly votes. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
