"Purely personal vendetta."
Secretary Luo’s concerns naturally have their reasons. The Wang Family’s status in the city committee is akin to a flagpole figure. These two tigers are not like the previous eradication of the Poison Dragon Gang. One wrong move and there’s no turning back. He had to consider Hua Muyun’s situation.
"Brother Luo, I understand your worries. This matter won’t implicate the Hua Family," Xiao Lin added.
"Alright, maybe I overthought it." Secretary Luo stepped back and entered the inner chamber of the courtyard.
"Are you going to act alone?" Hua Qingyi asked.
"Yes!"
If he guessed correctly, Wang Zhanting might be kept in the dark about the whole ordeal, or perhaps he is turning a blind eye. The Xia Family land case is rely a fuse that he might not ignite. This hinges on how Wang Zhanting acts. Fatty Wang’s thods are far more ruthless than Wang Zhanting’s, and Wang Zhantian might cover up for his son, hiding the truth. The stakes involved could put the Hua Family in a vulnerable position, with the city committee divided and ambiguous. For safety reasons, Xiao Lin wouldn’t lightly take action against Wang Zhanting.
"So, what do you plan to do?"
"The Liger Gang has been around long enough, such a cancer needs to be removed."
"You’ve been waiting for this a long ti, haven’t you?" Hua Muyun, accompanied by Secretary Luo, walked out from the inner room, his face pale with a hint of gray.
"Uncle Hua, are you alright?" Xiao Lin quickly stepped forward and took Hua Muyun’s hand.
In traditional Chinese dicine, taking a pulse is fundantal, so when Xiao Lin saw Hua Muyun, his instinctive response was to check the pulse. Hua Muyun didn’t say much, allowing him to proceed.
"The weather hasn’t been stable lately, have you been taking your heart dication regularly?"
"I’ve been sleeping late these days, nothing else," Hua Muyun withdrew his hand, taking the teapot handed by Secretary Luo, warming it in his hands.
Xiao Lin’s expression didn’t change, he brewed a fresh pot of tea and remained silent.
"Kid, why so quiet today?" This was directed at Hua Qingyi, who rely pursed his lips, feeling unable to do anything in such an environnt.
"Tell , what’s going on?"
"Uncle Hua, there have been successive firearms incidents lately, which I assu have already alard the city committee. The recent appearance of Zhang Teng has further escalated the security to a boiling point. You must be under a lot of pressure at the city committee!"
"Hmm!" Hua Muyun murmured, taking a sip of tea. This kid might be up to sothing big again.
"I have confird that Zhang Teng is collaborating with Poison Dragon, and I also know who the assailants endangering the Xia Family are. But this ti, I wish to handle these issues myself. The Wang Family, Uncle Hua, please just keep an eye on them," Xiao Lin swirled the tea in his hand, small particles settling in the amber liquid.
"Handle it yourself?" Hua Qingyi retorted cynically, "Are you planning a frontal assault? Or a sneak attack?"
With Hua Qingyi’s sudden cold tone, Xiao Lin gave a wry smile, while Hua Muyun remained silent, eyes downcast.
"The Liger Gang may not be as large as the Poison Dragon Gang, but their strength is not inferior. Since the tiger died in your hands, the lion won’t let it go easily. The Wang Family intends to use a borrowed knife to kill, others can’t avoid it fast enough and you still want to walk into it yourself," Hua Qingyi disdainfully tossed the teacup aside, the bitter taste brewing on his tongue.
"Whether the Wang Family is behind it all is rely our speculation without direct evidence," Xiao Lin reiterated this fact; they had no solid proof that everything was orchestrated by the Wang Family.
"So, you intend to break the law?" Hua Qingyi raised an eyebrow, "Will your appearance lead the lion to admit that they were directed by the Wang Family?"
"No, it won’t!" Xiao Lin suddenly felt bringing Hua Qingyi into this was a mistake.
"I’ve already ntioned that in this matter, the Hua Family cannot intervene."
"The Hua Family may not interfere, but Dragon Soul can," Hua Muyun opened his eyes, gesturing to Secretary Luo, "Bring this matter up, and when we et the Minister of Organization on Monday, have Lin Zhifang co and join us. The three of us will discuss a strategy."
"Uncle Hua!" Xiao Lin shouted, realizing this ant Hua Muyun wanted to get involved.
"I’m not getting involved in this directly; I want to see how Wang Zhanting will react through this matter." Hua Muyun paused, "The Liger Gang has always been active toward South City, rarely entering the city center. How do you think they’ve managed to reach such heights without a backer?"
"It’s unrealistic not to have a backer," Hua Qingyi responded to Hua Muyun’s question, "My brother once ntioned that when the tiger was killed, there was another assassin among them nad Li Fei, who is mostly active in Southeast Asia. Although he has limited entries, getting such a big na through the Liger Gang seems implausible. Furthermore, given the lion’s personality, using external forces to eliminate enemies would hurt his pride unless soone forced him."
"It’s almost ti," Secretary Luo reminded Hua Muyun from the side. There was a dinner engagent tonight, and it was nearly five o’clock.
"Young Xiao, this matter cannot be rushed," Hua Muyun stood, putting on the clothes prepared by Secretary Luo, "You can’t startle the snake while beating the grass."
Hua Muyun laughed lightly, leaving the small courtyard with Secretary Luo, leaving Xiao Lin and Hua Qingyi to ponder his words.
"What exactly is the old man planning?" Hua Qingyi asked Xiao Lin, feeling that there was another layer of aning in the earlier conversation.
"When it cos to political maneuvers, you should follow the old man and learn,"
Xiao Lin glanced at the cup of tea on the table, no longer interested in touching the now-cold tea. Hua Muyun had his plans; however, Xiao Lin was sure of one thing: Hua Muyun intended to root out everything, originally planning to bring down the Wang Family and expose Fatty Wang. It seed that the old man’s hatred was deeper, not wanting to let Wang Zhanting off either.
"No matter what the old man thinks, the Liger Gang’s affairs are Dragon Soul’s affairs, so I have to participate."
"No matter where, you can’t be left out, can you?"
Hua Qingyi shrugged, expressing no opinion: "Where are you headed?"
"Yan University!"
"Aren’t you going back to the cottage?"
"What would I go back for?" Xiao Lin frowned tightly. Lately, Xia Xue’s been acting strange, always pushing him towards Lian’s room, which really isn’t like her usual behavior.
"Want to see caught between two won?" With plenty of empty rooms, Hua Qingyi also stuck around at the cottage, not leaving, and with Miao Shaoqing added to the mix, that little place had beco quite lively. His awkwardness, caught between two won, often entertained those two.
"I actually think you should just settle both of them; it’s obvious the sister-in-law agrees!"
"You’re crazy!" Hua Qingyi opened the car door and slamd it shut hard. If he ever slept with Lian, Xia Xue would definitely go crazy on him.
"A woman’s heart is hard to fathom."
Hua Qingyi looked at Xiao Lin with a sympathetic gaze. In fact, a woman’s thoughts aren’t hard to guess; it depends on how you handle the entanglent with these won: "The girl you ntioned, is she the one with the red backpack, two little pigtails, and a black old cotton jacket?"
"Yes!" Xiao Lin lowered his head; the midday sake had yet to wear off, and he’s not soone who drinks often.
"She’s at a forty-five-degree angle in front of us, looks like she’s injured." Hua Qingyi drove his car off the regular lane and stopped at the corner: "We can’t park here; let’s walk back."
Niu Niu sat alone at the store entrance, her pants were torn with a big hole, and tears shimred in her big eyes. She wanted to cry, but her heart was too heavy to shed tears. Passersby stopped and asked what happened when they saw the poor little girl, but Niu Niu just kept shaking her head. She didn’t want to say.
Dusk was slowly setting in; if she didn’t go back soon, her mom would be worried. But as she rummaged through her red backpack, her nose started to tingle again.
"Niu Niu!" Hearing soone call her na, Niu Niu looked up. In front of her were two very handso older brothers, who seed a bit familiar.
"Who are you?" Her childish voice still carried sobs as Xiao Lin squatted down, gently patting her hair.
"I’m Brother Xiao, don’t you rember? I once treated your mom at the hospital."
"Oh!" Niu Niu searched her mories. After such a long ti, she scrutinized Xiao Lin, and his outline appeared in her blurred impression: "Brother Xiao!"
Tears started falling drop by drop. Xiao Lin looked at Hua Qingyi, having no clue on how to deal with crying won.
"Co on, Niu Niu, let’s go to the car; it’s cold here." Picking up on Xiao Lin’s ssage, Hua Qingyi lifted Niu Niu, not expecting her to let out a cry.
"Let see." Xiao Lin carried her into the back of the store; under the light, the wound on her knee revealed itself to Xiao Lin. Fortunately, it was just a skin-deep wound, not affecting the bone: "Is there one on your hand too?" Judging by the wound’s edge, it seed to be from a fall drag mark.
"Mm, it doesn’t hurt anymore." Niu Niu sniffed, pretending to be strong like a little adult.
"Then let brother give a hug." Hua Qingyi really liked Niu Niu; her thick braids tied atop her head were adorable.
"I can’t go back?" Niu Niu suddenly squird, wanting to hide aside.
"Why?" Both asked at the sa ti.
"Because... because..." Niu Niu lowered her head and fell silent.
"What’s going on?" Xiao Lin looked at Hua Qingyi, then turned to the store owner: "What happened?"
"Ah, it’s those biker gangs, even little girls aren’t spared."
The owner’s words were a bit vague, but one could guess the gist.
"It’s okay; take to see your mom, alright?"
Hua Qingyi picked up Niu Niu and sat her in the car. Xiao Lin made a call, and the other end replied with a feeble voice. He chuckled softly, Hua Qingyi glanced at him through the rearview mirror—it was clear he was on the phone with a woman.
"Calling a woman?" Hua Qingyi smiled, with a hint of sothing inexplicable in it.
"Wu Shuang!" Xiao Lin briefly explained the situation here to Wu Shuang—it required the surveillance footage at the intersection to know what just happened.
"Wow, that fiery woman!" Hua Qingyi exclaid: "Brother, you’ve really got so skills."
"Eyes on the road." Xiao Lin rubbed Niu Niu, admonishing Hua Qingyi, as they were still driving. (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, feel free to visit Qidian (qidian) to vote with recomndations and monthly tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
