"Grandfather! We're going back!" The girl shouted, only to find the old man had already changed positions, moving from the spot where he was crouching to the face-off position, completely ignoring her, which made her irritated. She threw the item in her hand at his feet.

"Ah, go play by yourself!" The old man didn't even lift his head, directly disregarding the girl.

"Grandfather!" The girl scread, and only then did the old man raise his head.

"Are you out of money?"

"No, it's not that!" The girl suddenly felt less important than chess pieces, and this disparity made her very unhappy. "Forget it, I'll just play at the bumper cars. If you want to leave, co find . I'll leave my stuff here, so take care of it!"

"Got it!" The old man waved impatiently, while the other old n laughed heartily, praising how well-behaved the granddaughter was, then resud their ga.

The bumper car area was packed with waiting kids, and the girl seed to be soone with little patience. She looked at the watch on her wrist, muttering to herself, worried that her grandfather would lose interest soon and call her away, yet also worried she wouldn't get her turn after waiting so long. In conflict, she left the line and headed to a more distant place to ride the rry-go-round, which seed less crowded.

With a graceful figure, light steps, and under the brilliant sunshine in the clear blue sky, a pair of eyes unabashedly road over the girl's body, moving her feet toward the rry-go-round.

The rry-go-round is a dreamlike place cherished by every girl, a place for romantic fantasies! The golden horse horn reflected colorful lights, carrying an anticipation of love. The girl mounted the ride, spinning with the children in this spring-filled season.

From afar, the old man seed to hear the girl's joyous laughter, which made him lift his head and frown deeply. An uncomfortable air seed to perate the peaceful atmosphere. Holding a chess piece in his hand, he hesitated to place it, prompting his opponent's impatience.

"Hurry up, what are you stalling for? Can't find a place and waiting to have all your black pieces eaten by ?" The opponent taunted, yet the old man remained solemn, pondering before finally placing the piece. He glanced several tis in the direction where the girl had laughed.

Though the laughter was sweet, the old man suddenly stood up, overturning the chessboard onto the ground.

"What's the aning of this? Can't win so you flip the board, don't you have any manners?" Another old man grabbed the old man's collar, ready for a fight. Chess players are particular about the rules, and having a ga overturned halfway would draw contempt. The opponent was a hot-tempered person, and threw a punch at the old man.

The old man moved his feet, deftly dodging the attack. After escaping, he headed towards the girl. "Stop, don't go!" Seeing that one move hadn't subdued the old man, the elder beca a bit indignant, insisting on settling the score. The onlookers, seeing the old man's skill, quickly held back the elder, persuading him not to make a fuss.

The old man moved swiftly and light-footed toward the rry-go-round, but suddenly stopped at the bumper cars. The anomaly he sensed was particularly acute in this area. He looked at the girl as she was getting off the rry-go-round, took a step back, and hid himself behind a large tree, his eyes sharp as he searched around.

"Grandfather, what are you doing here? Are you playing hide and seek with ?" The girl had seen the old man dodge behind the tree from afar, so she quietly circled around him and placed her hand on his shoulder.

"Stop fooling around!" The old man wasn't startled by the girl, but instead pulled her under him. "Don't make a sound."

"Grandfather?" The girl had never seen the old man so cautious before. She covered her mouth and stopped making any sound.

"Go!" With a powerful shout, the old man pushed the girl, rolling to the ground himself, just as a few strange things embedded themselves in the tree where he'd been hiding.

"Grandfather, are you okay?" The girl got up from the ground and hurried to the old man's side, pulling out what looked like a hexagonal star from the tree. "What is this?" The unsuspecting girl hadn't yet sensed the erging danger, finding the object in her hand quite novel.

"Throw it away quickly, it's poisoned." The old man slapped the object out of the girl's hand.

"What?" The girl spread her hands, seeing a layer of black aura covering her fingers, and the old man wasted no ti, taking out a small knife to cut an incision where the blackness was appearing, letting black blood ooze out.

"Stay here and don't move. Once the red blood starts flowing, wrap it up with sothing." After saying this, the old man was about to turn and leave, but the girl grabbed him.

"Grandfather, where are you going?" The girl trembled in fear, finally realizing what was happening, despite her dullness.

"Don't worry about . Rember, no matter what happens outside, don't co out." The old man shook off the young girl's arm, bending down as he erged from the big tree and headed to where the crowd gathered.

Where there's a crowd, there's hope for escape. The old man glanced around. Judging from the direction of the attack just now, it should have co from the place where he was playing chess earlier. To his left were bumper cars, in front was a carousel, and to his right were the public restrooms and the pirate ship. After determining the direction, the old man walked towards the public restroom on the right.

He hunched his body, stepping as if he were going to use the restroom. That was a perfectly normal thing to do. Because of the crowd, the restroom was also packed. The old man glanced at the entrance a few tis and squeezed out of the throng, sitting down on a nearby bench. He took a cigarette out of his pocket, trembling slightly as he lit it, his absent gaze fixed on the restroom, as if like many others waiting for an open spot.

"Old man, can I borrow a light?" A young man sat down next to him, his handso face breaking into a sunny smile, teeth gleaming white. He held up his cigarette to the old man. "My lighter won't spark, probably out of fluid." The old man gave him a glance, wordlessly handing over his lighter to the young man. "Thanks!" The young man who lit his cigarette didn't leave imdiately but started chatting with the old man.

"Old man, why are you sitting here alone? Where is your family? Didn't they co with you?"

The old man gave him a sideways glance, his eyes continuing to fixate on the restroom entrance. Two n, one tall and one fat, were lingering at the entrance. The tall one would glance in, and then the fat one squeezed his way inside.

"You can leave after borrowing the light. This isn't a good place." The old man stood up, unsure if he was advising the young man beside him or talking to himself.

"Old man, don't rush off!" The young man grabbed the old man's wrist, no matter how much he struggled, he couldn't break free. "Sit down first, let's chat."

The old man eyed this stranger with suspicion, feeling sothing peculiar. "Who are you?"

"Anyway, I'm not soone who's going to hurt you. We're here entrusted to protect you." The young man gestured with his chin towards the tall man from earlier; the place where he was standing was now empty.

"What do you an?" The old man watched the young man warily. "I don't need protection, and as for my granddaughter, she's..."

"Oh, she's fine now. As for whether you need protection, I don't take orders from you, only from my boss." Suddenly, a woman's scream ca from near the pirate ship, and the old man dashed out despite everything. The young man shook his head; with a mont's lapse, he had slipped away. How was he like an old man nearing seventy? He was really like a rabbit.

The young girl's hand was grasped tightly by a Big Fatty, and the man who was following her earlier was already knocked to the ground. "Let go of , you big pervert!" The girl cried out as she was inexplicably grabbed and ran off; she lifted her bag and swung it at Big Fatty's head, not caring if she hit or not. Escaping was the most important thing.

"Damn it!" Big Fatty was clearly infuriated by the bag hitting him, and slapped the girl across the face. The girl, struck and stunned, froze for a mont. People passing by didn't step up to help, instead avoiding the scene, and soon there were no more pedestrians on the path.

Big Fatty, pulling the girl up from the ground, started walking forward, while the tall man who was with him had already disappeared. "Get up, damn it!" Big Fatty was about to slap the girl again when a stone suddenly flew straight at his forehead.

The old man, holding a few stones, aid and shot them at Big Fatty's limbs and neck. Caught off guard, Big Fatty released his grip in pain, but even so, his face showed no sign of fear that most people might have. His triangular eyes glared at the old man, a smile tugging at his lips as with a swift move, he grabbed the fleeing girl back and stood his ground.

The old man raised his eyebrows, step by step approaching Big Fatty. "Let her go!"

"Grandpa!" The girl saw the old man coming towards them, waving frantically. "Grandpa, don't co over, go call the police."

"Hong Lian! If you want to save this little girl's life, co here yourself." Big Fatty roared at the old man, his face quivering with a grin.

"You've got the wrong person. I'm not Hong Lian." The old man stood three steps away, his gaze falling on the scrape on the girl's forehead, and the glint in his eyes dimd.

"Wrong person? Hong Lian, stop pretending. Who doesn't know the Underworld is looking everywhere for you? If you follow them, you won't be caught." Big Fatty gestured with the girl in his hand. "You want to let her go? Easy, end your life and I'll free her."

The girl didn't understand, she looked at her grandfather, hoping he wouldn't be so stubborn. Wasn't this the ti to call the police for help? "Grandpa, go call the police!"

"Shut the hell up, be quiet." Big Fatty didn't seem to have any concept of pitying won; he slapped the girl across the face again. (To be continued. If you like this work, please visit Qidian (qidian) to vote for recomndations and monthly tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
