Early in the morning, the North District was greeted by an unexpected guest. Even though there had been many changes, an innate arrogance still revealed her identity.
The woman wasn't pretty, in fact, she was a bit ugly. Her features, though delicate, when combined gave a feeling of inexplicable awkwardness, leading one to believe that having so flaws is indeed better.
"I want to see your leader." As soon as the woman stepped in, she found a comfortable chair to sit on. It was unclear whether she was used to always emphasizing her position from above, or if she never had the habit of looking down. In any case, this behavior made so people very angry, but they held back due to their positions.
Shi Shuai glanced at the woman, unable to figure out her background. After signaling to a young officer at the side, he approached the woman. "Do you have any business with our director?"
"If you're not the director, there's no need to talk to you."
The mont the woman spoke, Shi Shuai was left speechless. He had never t soone so arrogant. "Our director is quite busy, and it's uncertain when he'll return. If you have ti, you can wait, or you can leave your contact information, and I'll have him reach out to you."
The woman scoffed lightly, her hand gripping her bag trembled. "Go fetch him; otherwise, he will regret it."
"Uh..." Shi Shuai felt that his hint to leave was quite clear, yet the woman seed not to understand. "I'm sorry, the director is not here. Where am I supposed to find him for you? If you're here to report a case, I can assist directly."
"The person I want to accuse is Yao Zheng. Can you handle that?" The woman's words startled Shi Shuai. He sized her up again; she didn't seem joking. Could all ntally ill people nowadays be such skilled actors?
"Miss, are you referring to Yao Zheng, the district chief of the North District? Please, don't joke around. Do you need to notify your family to take you back ho? Have you lost your way?"
The woman suddenly stood up from her seat, her eyes fixed on Shi Shuai. "Is this how the North District Police Station handles matters? Seems I've co to the wrong place." With that, she left just as quickly as she arrived, like a gust of wind.
"What kind of person is that!" Shi Shuai scratched the back of his head, threw a disdainful glance at the woman before heading into the dormitory. "Lao Xu, a crazy woman just ca saying she wanted to accuse Yao Zheng. I managed to send her off."
It seed that the accumulated case files of the North District might have left Xu Ming awake for less than two hours before Shi Shuai's random words woke him from his snoring slumber. In a daze, he thought he heard Yao Zheng's na and suddenly opened his eyes, scaring Shi Shuai, who was about to cover Lao Xu with a blanket, into yelling, drawing everyone else working inside.
"Are you trying to scare soone to death!" Shi Shuai unceremoniously tossed the blanket onto Xu Ming's face, sitting angrily on the bed fra.
"What did you just say? I heard you ntion Yao Zheng." Xu Ming pulled the blanket off his face and jumped up from the bed, his chin already sporting a stubbled beard, looking quite disheveled. "What's going on?"
"A woman ca saying she was looking for you, wanted to report Yao Zheng. I thought she wasn't in her right mind, so I sent her off."
"Ridiculous, why didn't you call ?" Upon hearing this, Xu Ming's eyes widened. Usually too polite with these youngsters, now it's like none of them have any respect. "Go get her back right now."
"I'm not going." Upon hearing that he might have to chase after that woman who kept her eyes above her head, Shi Shuai refused. "I think she's just a lunatic. She looks like a monster. How could Yao Zheng know such a woman?"
"Eyes above her head is just right." Xu Ming kicked Shi Shuai, grabbing his clothes to put on. "If you're not going, don't block the way. I'm telling you, if you ruin sothing today, see how I'll punish you."
"Lao Xu!" Shi Shuai followed behind, puzzled by Xu Ming's anxiety. It's just a woman. If there really was an injustice, she'd surely co back!
Xu Ming ran to the street, seeing no trace of the woman. He looked around, stomping his feet in frustration. "What on earth happened!"
"The boss ntioned that there might be such a woman coming around soon, and we must keep her. Now you've scared her away." With that, Xu Ming squatted at the police station entrance.
"Who is she? Such importance."
"Why's everyone standing at the door? What happened to Director Xu?" Ji Weihua, just getting off the car, saw Xu Ming squatting on the ground, holding his head as if upset with the young officers. He leisurely walked over, his car parked at the street corner.
"Director Ji." Xu Ming stood up, extending his hand. This ti, Ji Weihua politely extended his hand to shake. His amiable deanor left Xu Ming unsure of his intentions. "Please, co in."
"What just happened with Director Xu? You look so worried." Ji Weihua, upon entering the compound of the police station, imdiately slled a perfu, slightly furrowing his brows as he subtly took a seat.
"Oh! It's nothing, soone made a mistake." Xu Ming poured a cup of tea for Ji Weihua. "I wonder, Director Ji, what important matter brings you here personally?"
"I ca to ask about the Northern Palace skeleton case. Last ti, I reported the situation to District Chief Yao; he is very concerned about this case."
"I was careless; these people have been busy and didn't co to report to you, making you co in person. That's my fault as a subordinate." Xu Ming chuckled softly.
"There's no need for such words. We're all serving the country. Whoever cos is the sa." Ji Weihua took a sip of tea, only to get a mouthful of tea leaves. With no way to spit them out, he had to swallow them down. "So, any leads? I see you've already organized so bones over there." As he spoke, Ji Weihua moved forward to look but was stopped by Xu Ming.
"Director Ji, it's not that I'm not letting you see. It's just that this expert is very stern and won't let us touch anything. If sothing is missing, I would have a hard ti explaining it later."
