Xiao Zhenfeng smiled, he was the first to stand up and exit the room. Xiao Lin made him feel astonished, the expression he didn't show left him indecisive for a long period. In the end, Xiao Lin let Xiao Ya go, which served as a reminder to him—he was finding his son increasingly difficult to understand.
Wang Zhanting was the last to learn about Wang Zhantian's disappearance. Surprisingly, he did not pursue the matter, only expressing to the police his hopes that his brother's whereabouts could be quickly ascertained, concerned about his health, hoping the real culprit could be swiftly apprehended.
He also promised that if it was the work of kidnappers, he would certainly notify the police. His cooperative attitude made Guang Lingyi suspicious. After hastily packing up and leaving the Wang Family, he imdiately deployed a 24-hour surveillance order; his intuition told him that Wang Zhantian's disappearance was very likely orchestrated by Wang Zhanting.
Today was the first day of the stock market opening. Just after seeing off Guang Lingyi, he received a call from Wang Shixian, stating that an uninvited guest had arrived at the Wang Group.
The weather was hot, yet the man sitting before Wang Shixian was still wrapped in layers of black feathers. Amazingly, he didn't have a single drop of sweat.
This was the awkward situation Wang Zhanting encountered after entering with rage—the esteed head of the Wang Group was actually abjectly inviting a stranger for tea.
"Uncle!" Wang Shixian sighed with relief upon seeing Wang Zhanting at the door. The office, with its heavy curtains drawn even in broad daylight, was shrouded in an oppressive atmosphere.
"What is going on?" Wang Zhanting's dismissal of the stranger made Wang Shixian's heart skip a beat. As he moved to draw back the curtains, Wang Shixian quickly stepped forward to stop him.
"Uncle, this guest doesn't like the light." It was only then that Wang Zhanting noticed that the entire office was illuminated only by a single desk lamp.
From the mont Wang Zhanting entered, the man in black had not spoken a word. Occasionally, a black feather would drift onto the cal-colored carpet. Wang Zhanting bent down to pick up the feather, finding its glossiness to be genuine-looking.
"I, Wang, do not know you, may I ask what your intention is in having Shixian convey your ssage? We of the Wang Family do not need outsiders to intervene." Wang Zhanting made his stance clear from the outset, casting a resentful glance at Wang Shixian.
"Today the opening index fell below a thousand points. Within the first ten minutes of opening, a trade company nad 'Dingrong' acquired nearly three percent of your company's shares. This ans they now hold thirty-nine percent of Wang Group's shares, slightly more than your thirty-five percent. To my knowledge, today Dingrong's CEO has already begun secretly eting with other Wang Group shareholders. Should they reach an agreent, you and your puppet heir will be ousted from the Wang Group. This much should be clear to you, right?"
"Who exactly are you?"
"My na is Magician, from the lowest depths of this world. I am an envoy of the Demon Realm." The magician's lips curled into a sarcastic smile.
"Why should I believe you, soone who dares not show their face? Why should I trust that you will help us?"
A tal card was pushed in front of Wang Zhanting. "This person should not be unfamiliar to you, your last trump card."
"Are you really sent by him?" Upon seeing the tal plate, Wang Zhanting was agitated. He had never thought this person would truly co to help him.
Feigning a slight smile, the magician snatched the black feather from Wang Zhanting's hand with a speed indiscernible to the common eye. "Surrender the remaining shares in your possession and erase the Wang Family from Yanjing's business ranks entirely."
"What?" Wang Zhanting and Wang Shixian shouted in unison, unable to believe this person's socalled solution was to bankrupt them.
"Impossible! We won't act according to your demands. The Wang Family will not be defeated by that so-called 'Dingrong.'" Wang Zhanting slapped the table, resolutely refusing.
"The puppet masters behind 'Dingrong' are Hua Qingyi and Xiao Lin. Your only path back into the shadows now is to relinquish everything you hold. You may not trust , but you should trust the owner of that card. Are you defying his orders?"
"But we can't just let the Wang Family..."
The self-proclaid magician suddenly stood up. He towered a full head taller than Wang Zhanting—nearly two ters—for soone already standing at 180 centiters. Stepping closer, his presence exuded an invisible pressure, forcing Wang Zhanting to retreat. anwhile, at the side, Wang Shixian displayed a bizarre expression, as if entranced, extending his right hand toward the magician's back.
"Black wings!" He muttered incomprehensible words, his fascinated gaze emanating a deathly aura, growing increasingly unhinged the closer he got.
"No!" Before Wang Zhanting could voice his objection, Wang Shixian was hurled into the air, dropping freely before a spine-chilling crack echoed in Wang Zhanting's ears.
The man called the Magician killed Wang Shixian right in front of him, the person who was broken in half stared wide-eyed, not knowing what had happened even in his last monts.
"You... you killed him!" Watching the blood slowly seep out from beneath Wang Shixian's body, Wang Zhanting nearly lost control and scread, his outstretched hand trembled incessantly. The secretary outside the door heard his scream and wanted to co in, but Wang Zhanting stopped them with a single shout.
"Now one person from the Wang Family is missing, and another is dead. You can't possibly push yourself into this position. The thirty-five percent equity in your hands shouldn't matter much now, right?" The Magician squatted down, his black-gloved hand pressed on Wang Zhanting's hand, pushing it down. "This is my eting gift for you, don't waste my goodwill."
"Is my big brother in your hands?"
The Magician turned his head, the corners of his mouth lifted with a smirk that etched into Wang Zhanting's heart. At his feet, Wang Shixian's body continued to seep blood, spreading to his fingertips. He didn't even dare to call out for soone to catch this criminal in the act.
"Rember! The longer you delay, the worse it is for you." The Magician pointed at the corpse on the floor, implying sothing ominous as he grandly left the highest office of Wang Group as if killing were as simple as stepping on an ant.
Wang Zhanting propped himself up using a chair, dragged Wang Shixian's body under the table, tore down the tapestry from the wall to cover the bloodstains, and then pressed the communication button, instructing for the office to be cleaned by a janitorial company that evening. He also booked a ticket for a night flight to the United States. Once everything was arranged, he slowly sat in the armchair.
A tal card on the desk fell into his sight, with strange symbols printed on it that he had seen before on the old man's belongings. The elder had said that only when the Wang Family was in an irreparable predicant could they use this pattern to find that person. That was why he was so confident, but now the other party proactively ca to him, and the result was completely different from what he had imagined.
Sooner or later, Wang Shixian's death would be discovered, and there's no guarantee that the bloodstains on the floor wouldn't be shared. The mysterious person had long planned to kill Wang Shixian here in front of him, leaving him no retreat. Was this helping him?
The thirty-five percent equity he had didn't hold much aning for him anymore, but submitting to them wasn't going to be easy.
"Secretary Luo, could you let Secretary Hua know if he's free to et with tonight?"
"Secretary Hua is very busy!" Secretary Luo, consulting with Hua Muyun on one side, declined Wang Zhanting's offer.
"Please relay to Secretary Hua that I wish to transfer thirty-five percent of Wang Family's equity to him."
"Oh, in that case, I'll request instruction and then call Minister Wang, how does that sound?"
"Thank you, Secretary Luo."
"Thirty-five percent equity transfer?" Upon hearing Secretary Luo's ssage, Hua Muyun was surprised. Thirty-five percent isn't insignificant, and if released, a large part of Wang Family would be in his hands. "Tell him, I'm not interested, he should find soone else."
"Secretary Hua, I think it might be worth eting him, Wang Zhanting doesn't seem to be just about transferring equity." Secretary Luo collected the signed docunts in front of Hua Muyun and placed another docunt before him. "From his response to Wang Zhantian's disappearance, his reaction seems too calm and cooperative, unlike his usual style. Why don't I go probe his intentions first before we decide?"
"I don't want to stir up trouble until we've investigated who backs Wang Zhanting. But you have a point. You should go over now, don't wait until evening. However, keep your conversation under an hour. He is adept at subtly implying things in his mind, so be careful. Additionally, ensure that Wang Shixian is present when discussing any equity transfer, and don't have any private communication with him."
"Understood."
Unexpectedly, Secretary Luo took only an hour to travel back and forth between the two places. Hua Muyun was amazed at his astonishing speed but was even more surprised by the news he brought back.
"Can you be certain?"
"He said that Wang Shixian had already gone ho to prepare to fly to the United States, but I found sothing strange in the office. The carpeted floor had an additional tapestry, like it was covering sothing. Also, I found this there," as he spoke, Secretary Luo handed a black feather to Hua Muyun. "On my way back, I did a preliminary market check on this feather. It's not from any poultry, nor is it a replica. Several shops couldn't say which animal it belonged to."
"He didn't ntion the equity matter?"
"Since Wang Shixian wasn't there, I didn't elaborate and returned. However, he seed greatly disturbed, and the office had a bloody sll." (To be continued. If you like this work, please visit Qidian (qidian) to vote with recomndations and monthly tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
