Chapter 1137: Chapter 688_2

Perhaps this person possesses so heavenly treasures that could enable them to break free from their current bottleneck. Even after shutting themselves away for cultivation, they’ve been unable to advance. The secrets on this person’s body hold imnse value—if they could uncover them, then their Invincible Sect would beco the greatest power in the Star Realm of Cultivation, second only to the Pirate King Sect!

But just as these individuals entertained such lofty dreams, they soon discovered that the ghosts they’d unleashed were losing their magic power little by little, their attacks growing feeble!

When a few of the elders noticed this, their expressions changed sharply. They had realized sothing strange was afoot. It wasn’t as if the opponent had cast a spell against them, but sohow, the magic power of their ghostly summons—those released through their magical treasures—was draining away, leaving the ghosts powerless to inflict any harm.

For a demon cultivator to experience a reduction in their magic power was akin to a great cultivator running out of spiritual energy—it drastically minimized their offensive capabilities. Worse still, it seed as though their power was being absorbed by the opponent, causing their cultivation base to slowly regress.

They were utterly flummoxed. They had never heard of such a skill, much less that it would belong to a righteous cultivator. How could soone from the righteous sects absorb magic power?

And this individual did not appear to be practicing demonic magic at all. In fact, they observed that this person seed to possess the five elents—tal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth—each evident in their cultivation technique. In other words, he had the Five Elents Spiritual Roots!

In all their years in this Star Realm of Cultivation, they had never seen or heard of a Five Elents Spiritual Root cultivator with such extraordinary talent.

Typically, an additional spiritual root ant an additional cultivation thod to practice, but one’s energy and focus are limited. Soone with Five Elents Spiritual Roots was more often labeled as having Mixed Spiritual Roots or even Pseudo Spirit Roots.

Yet the spiritual roots on this formidable cultivator appeared impossibly pure; he had achieved Great Perfection in every single spiritual root!

This individual’s possession of heavenly treasures, they surmised, must have allowed him to overco the inherent disadvantages of Five Elents Spiritual Roots. Otherwise, why would their sect suddenly start accepting disciples with this configuration of roots this year?

Even then, Five Elents disciples typically required far more effort and resources for their cultivation—every spiritual root needed to reach Great Perfection for any breakthrough to occur.

But this man in front of them made it seem as effortless as a casual breath!

He wasn’t even over twenty! At around twenty years old, the most brilliant cultivators they’d seen in their entire lives were at the Foundation Establishnt stage, or at most the Golden Core stage, already regarded as prodigies!

Could it be? Beyond his Five Elents Spiritual Roots, does this man possess additional hidden roots?

For example, his ability to absorb their magic power suggested that he might have a Dark Spiritual Root!

Such a person could easily be mistaken for one of the righteous path—he carried the rit Golden Light granted by the Heavenly Dao!

Yet, the presence of a Dark Spiritual Root within him, and his mad capacity to devour their magic power, were undeniable. They could scarcely believe that soone with a Dark Spiritual Root could coexist with the radiant rit Golden Light!

This individual had slain people before—one could see the Evil Qi lingering on his body—but he also carried an air of righteousness!

As veterans of the demonic path, the elders reasoned that this man must have slaughtered countless wrongdoers, perhaps sects like theirs that thrived on nefarious deeds!

Though these elders had once been ruthless and unyielding, years of secluded cultivation had dulled their edge so.

After all, the cultivation techniques of the demonic path are fueled by strong magic power.

They had even harnessed ghosts to refine additional magic power, accelerating the speed and efficiency of their cultivation.

Their sect, in addition to piracy, often aligned their objectives with soul collection, harvesting the souls of their victims to refine them into magic power.

In their world, the more they killed, the more power they gained, allowing their abilities to expand exponentially!

They were used to oppressing, slaughtering, and suppressing others. Never had they imagined they would one day face such a dire crisis themselves.

Even their most formidable techniques were proving ineffective!

When their magic power sought to devour the opponent’s body, the power itself dissipated bit by bit, instilling creeping terror in the elders!

This was their ultimate move—the souls they had painstakingly cultivated were terrifyingly strong!

Even cultivators above the Golden Core stage would be entirely stripped to their bones in an instant!

“Huff, huff, huff, huff…”

The ghost demons unleashed ghastly, mournful screams, vanishing one by one on the spot. Gradually, fewer and fewer ghosts remained!

“Who are you? What is this dark cultivation technique of yours? Where did you co from?”

One of the elders couldn’t help but voice his suspicions. He wondered if this person had erged from so hidden rat’s nest, carrying a technique specifically designed to restrain their demonic powers!

According to legend, during the Great Battle of Heavens, there had been Buddha Cultivators capable of confronting demonic cultivators like themselves.

But this man clearly wasn’t using any Buddhist cultivation techniques!

He bore none of the post-righteousness compassion characteristic of Buddhist cultivation!

The elders, one after another, bombarded the man with questions, though they knew deep down that an enemy would never deliver their true identity on a silver platter. If they failed to kill this man here and now, their sect would surely face vengeance!

Jiang Tang ignored their questions. At first, he had felt irritated, but soon his body began to swell, becoming unbearable.

The dark magic power he absorbed from them transford into a mixture of spiritual energy within him.

It took just a mont, but Jiang Tang’s slender, elegant fra expanded into that of a giant—towering form, massive legs, and broad, thickset features. His hands grew wider and longer, resembling slabs of hardened steel!

If he so desired, Jiang Tang could probably squash these old n before him with a single palm!

But at the mont, his hands acted beyond his control as he silently wished for these fools to stop using magic power altogether.

These so-called fools—the Invincible Sect elders—had already unleashed tens of thousands of ghostly spirits. The ones they’d sent out with the strongest combat capabilities were already a testimony to their acknowledgnt of Jiang Tang’s strength!

The elders had intended to use the ghosts and magic power to entangle Jiang Tang, even if they couldn’t kill him outright, in hopes of stalling him long enough to escape.

They had even dared to dream that they could wear this formidable foe down to death!

But their plans had backfired horrifically. The stone they’d thrown had smashed their own feet.

Watching as the ghosts they unleashed fell prey to so wicked art—be it the magic power on the ghosts’ bodies, the spells cast, or even the magic lingering on their aging fras—everything was being ravenously absorbed by the opponent!

Unless they ceased using spiritual energy entirely, their magic power would continue to dissolve!

By the ti they realized the truth, it was already too late. Regrets sank in as they questioned their decision to use this ghostly entrapnt technique.

Although they still had other formations at their disposal capable of containing Jiang Tang, the ghosts they’d sent out were now void of magic power and soon vanished inexplicably. Even their own magic power gradually ebbed away into nothingness under the opponent’s influence!

They had barely managed to mount a light barrier on the mountain and choked down dicinal pills for recovery.

Cold sweat seeped out of their bodies. They had already lost significant amounts of magic power to the opponent. Fatigue quickly overwheld them!

Their gazes locked onto Jiang Tang, and in that mont, they understood true fear!

Previously, they’d acknowledged that he was formidable. Now they could sense that he was breaking through—having absorbed their magic power—and his titanic form radiated oppressiveness. The four of them combined couldn’t rival a fraction of his might!

As an even greater, suffocating pressure descended, for the first ti, these elder demonic heads felt dwarfed and inferior. Faced with this towering figure, a crushing dejection enveloped them!

Jiang Tang didn’t even glance at them, nor did he care if they dared attack him.

He even entertained the hope that they might land a few punches on him to help alleviate the painful bloating sensation he was experiencing!

As his body began to assimilate the spiritual energy, it surged against the barrier of the late Mahayana stage. He no longer needed to employ any cultivation technique—spiritual energy erupted on its own, dissolving the screen blocking him from fully breaking through the late Mahayana stage, all within fifteen minutes!

A torrent of titanic power surged through him as the barrier disintegrated, and this energy promptly returned to his dantian. The bloated discomfort in his body diminished slightly but was still insufficient!

Though his giant fra had slimd down a bit, the excess swelling clearly wasn’t yet tad!

Jiang Tang couldn’t even begin to describe the changes occurring in his body. Without needing to focus, he instinctively understood that as his body processed the swelling, his hands continued to absorb more energy!

For a mont, he couldn’t help but curse inwardly. These “old ghosts” had truly pushed him to his limits!

If he had rely been aiming to enter the Divinity Transformation Stage, why would he have stored his rit, celestial power, and spiritual essence—including the energy reserves—within a separate space?
