Now reading: Chapter 2244 - 1262 from Spiritual Energy Rejuvenation: I Began Cultivating By Farming, a Sci-fi novel by One word, that's settled..

The old General’s son and grandson carried out this sche, then quietly left, taking their troops back to that city.

They reported the matter to the General and then, according to the plan, pretended that they had been robbed, all the supplies stolen, and they were too ashad to face the General.

The soldiers on the city walls did not know the plan; they only thought the supplies had truly been stolen and were very angry at those Mountain Bandits.

Yesterday, after reaping the harvest from these people’s grains and wealth, the father and son watched the others perform without making a sound. Only they knew that the grains sent were not much, not as much as written on the list of supplies.

These n were corrupt, or perhaps it was their superiors who were embezzling.

Either way, these people deserved death!

They were traitors.

The father and son revealed a hateful look, yet those below had no idea who exactly they hated.

Thinking they had done the perfect job, though it was true they were robbed before coming, their things were mysteriously intercepted, thinking it was the work of the ghosts.

But they couldn’t say it was ghosts; it was all a plan. Now it’s real, calling it banditry because nobody would believe in ghosts. Say it was bandits; that could be believed.

The Ye Family father and son gathered a team of troops just below the city, opened the city gates, and let the outside people in, searching them as they entered.

No matter who they were, those holding a token from a distance were thoroughly checked, interrogated, and identified.

When soldiers were checking, these people did not lie; they stated their ranks and titles from Ming Dili.

Soone recorded the identities of all these people.

In the search, they wanted to move but held back, not wanting to ruin the big plan.

While being searched by soldiers, they inquired about what had happened inside the city?

Why were the city gates closed?

They arrived last night, thinking the gates would open in the morning, yet it remained closed.

ntioning several rchants, they were stranded at a town a few miles away, unable to sell or bring grain here due to the closure, their supplies robbed, soldiers without food, what could be done?

"We have food to eat,"

The one being probed responded with this sentence.

"Oh, that’s great! The soldiers won’t go hungry because of our robbed supplies, great. Wasn’t there already a stockpile prepared at the barracks?"

"Go inside, you’ll know."

The soldier assud these people were their own and said this much. Saying more wouldn’t be permissible; they had orders not to disclose anything about supplies or food, no matter how people outside pried.

Especially with enemies around, why else would the gates be closed?

Because of the war against the neighboring country, spies inside the city, if colluding with outsiders, there was no way to guard against them, so the gates were closed, not letting anyone in or out. Besides, supplies weren’t brought in; they had food.

If the Imperial side hadn’t sent supplies by now, sothing major must have happened.

There were orders from superiors to remain silent, only giving vague answers if prodded.

The soldier’s ntion of having food caused those faking the robbery, the traitors’ subordinates, and spies from neighboring countries a brief panic.

Both sides had different thoughts, wondering if the battle was won since there was food.

Seeing the peace inside the city, it didn’t seem like a defeat.

Thoughts swirled in their minds as they entered the city to gather information.

Once inside, they would have the ans to find out what was going on; they had people inside.

They needed to clarify the explosions heard in the past days, what had happened?

At that ti, they couldn’t determine, and their infiltrators never returned.

As they entered, they discovered nurous soldiers monitoring, wished to leave quietly, but realized they were being taken like prisoners to a location.

Realizing sothing was amiss.

"Where are you taking us? We want to see the General."

One person’s eyes shifted; their first plan was to kill the General and his sons, using this as a probe.

"Want to see my father? Wait!"

As he finished speaking, a middle-aged voice rang out; everyone looked and saw a general in armor, sternly facing them.

Among this group, the most capable was this person; before coming, they had seen portraits of the old General’s family.

Identifying this as one of the General’s sons, the other was his grandson.

Both son and grandson were present, not appearing as if the General had died, mourning attire absent.

Things had certainly escalated. Was soone leaking their well-laid plans? Were they prepared out of foresight, or was it a defeat?

Now entering, were they falling into the opponent’s trap?
