Phoenix Airport.
Moratti walked out of the airport with his assistant.
The head of public relations for one of his family’s branch companies in Arizona picked them up, and they rode together to their hotel.
After flying to the United States, the first thing Moratti did was et with Ronaldo.
Ronaldo hadn’t rushed to Phoenix. Instead, he had first run off to Washington because Jordan was on the Wizards, and he went to see his idol.
After eting him and confirming that this was truly Ronaldo’s own idea, what could Moratti say?
In his heart, he was the patriarch of the great Inter family. Every person on the team was a child in that family. If a child was sick and needed surgery, then they should have it.
But Moratti had to thoroughly investigate Chen Yu. At the very least, he needed to know if Chen Yu’s dical skills were as incredible as Blanchini claid.
"Sco," Moratti said, looking at the head of the PR departnt. "You’ve been in the United States for a long ti. Do you think this Chen is a skilled doctor?"
Sco was also from Italy, but having been in the United States for a long ti working in dia and public relations, he was more familiar with the local situation.
He thought for a mont before replying, "Sir, this Chen has beco quite famous in the Arican sports world recently. He’s relatively young and doesn’t have a lot of experience, but he seems to be a genius. His dical skills are said to be exceptional."
"Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to earn the trust of Hill and Hardaway. Hardaway’s situation, in particular, was dire. I read in the news afterward that many orthopedic specialists in the United States said Hardaway’s surgery was an extrely difficult procedure."
"That’s everything I know," Sco said, not daring to commit to an opinion, and tossed the question back.
Moratti nodded. After arriving in the United States, he had also collected dia reports and studied them carefully.
Just as Sco said, Chen Yu was young and lacked experience.
However, the fact that Chen Yu was able to treat Hill and Hardaway was, in itself, incredible.
If they didn’t have imnse trust in Chen Yu’s dical skills, two n of Hill’s and Hardaway’s stature would never have chosen an unknown like Chen Yu to treat them.
Not to ntion, Chen Yu was now the head of the NBA’s official player health managent departnt.
"We’ll see," Moratti said noncommittally.
After arriving at the hotel and resting for a bit, Moratti received news that Chen Yu was holding a free clinic at the arena.
"Let’s go. We’ll go take a look."
Moratti had already been wondering how to approach Chen Yu, and now he had a perfect opportunity to observe him.
The group set off for the US Airways Center.
The free clinic was located just outside the US Airways Center.
Before they even reached the US Airways Center, their car was stuck in traffic.
"Why are there so many people?" Moratti asked, surprised.
Sco thought for a mont and said, "Sir, seeing a doctor in the United States is a hassle. You have to make an appointnt in advance and then wait for a long ti. I had a toothache once and made an appointnt with my primary care physician. He said he couldn’t treat it and referred to a specialist, but the wait for that appointnt was so long that my tooth had stopped hurting by the ti I was finally seen."
"So, getting an outpatient visit here is very difficult, and it’s even harder to get an appointnt with a specialist like Chen. That must be why so many people have co to be seen."
It wasn’t just because the clinic was free. The main reason was that ordinary people rarely had the chance to see a specialist like Chen Yu.
Moratti understood. He couldn’t help but complain, "It’s about the sa in Europe, then."
Seeing a doctor in Europe is also slow.
For many minor illnesses, people go to private clinics. It’s just that with extensive private insurance, it’s comparatively more convenient.
Further ahead, police officers were maintaining order and directing cars to park in the surrounding lots.
"Let’s walk from here."
Moratti wasn’t there to see a doctor anyway; he just wanted to check out the situation.
The n got out of the car.
Moratti noticed that staff mbers from the Suns were handing out queue numbers. After a mont’s thought, he had his assistant get a number and wait in line while he, along with Sco and his bodyguard, walked toward the arena.
There were truly a lot of people—not just ordinary citizens, but also a large number of holess people.
Because in addition to the free clinic, they were also distributing benefits.
Fortunately, with a large police presence maintaining order, the scene remained organized.
Since Moratti’s group wasn’t there to be seen, they walked straight ahead and soon reached the US Airways Center.
The free clinic was being held in the plaza in front of the US Airways Center.
Moratti imdiately spotted several tall Suns players helping to maintain order at the scene.
For a community service event, the team definitely had to show its support.
A few benchwarrs had been sent over.
J Kidd was there too.
Chen Yu had specifically requested J Kidd’s presence. What a great opportunity to help J Kidd turn his bad image around.
Moratti saw Chen Yu as well. He was off to one side of the plaza, making diagnoses with the help of several staff mbers, while a cara crew fild nearby.
Moratti didn’t approach—he couldn’t have gotten through anyway—but thankfully he was close enough to overhear their conversation.
Since it was a free clinic, there was no need to be particular about privacy or the environnt.
When he arrived, Chen Yu was diagnosing a plainly dressed middle-aged man.
"A dislocated left shoulder, is that right?" Chen Yu asked, looking at the middle-aged man.
Jeans, a plaid shirt, ssy hair and a beard—the standard look of a working-class Arican.
The middle-aged man nodded. "I just lost my job recently, and my health insurance was cut off. I was fixing the roof yesterday when I accidentally fell. Now I can’t move my arm at all."
Chen Yu stood up and went forward to examine him.
The man’s condition could have actually been treated at the ergency room. They could perform a manual reduction, or if that failed, surgery.
