Sun Meng allowed his panions to chatter noisily, his gaze fixed on Bai Ruirui with a grin. The more he observed her, the more enamored he became.
Pleased with himself, he straightened his posture, exuding an air of self-satisfaction.

Upon receiving word of the motion, Fan Ruyin descended from her carriage, shielding Bai Ruirui as she confronted Sun Meng’s panions.
Sun Meng’s expression darkened, a mixture of embarrassment and anger swirling within him.
His panions were accustomed to being brash and unreasonable; they weren’t about to back down. The two sides engaged in a heated exchange, their quarrel echoing amidst the crowd.
Meanwhile, the spectators added to the cacophony with their incessant chatter.
By chance, Hang Xingshan was on patrol nearby. Startled by the motion, he quickly rallied his men and approached to investigate.
Before he could approach, Hang Xingshan spotted Sun Meng.
Recognizing him, Hang Xingshan hastily veered away, inwardly groaning.
Confronting Sun Meng would only lead to trouble; engaging in conflict with him was ill-advised. It wasn’t his place to intervene directly.

Upon hearing Hang Xingshan’s account, Shao Yunduan and Qiao Xuan grasped the gist of the situation.
Both were rendered speechless.
