Chapter 2356: Relief

Some people might have heard the news, but Qiao Xuan and Shao Yunduan did not announce it publicly. Those who knew the truth were unlikely to spread groundless rumors.

After all, the news hadn’t been officially announced yet. It would be awkward if Lord Shao and Madam Shao found out about any rumors circulating before the truth was confirmed.

The members of the Ruan family were well-behaved. When Qiao Xuan asked them to stay, they respected her request and did not cause any trouble.

Qiao Xuan did not know what to say to them, so she did not visit them any further. Instead, she asked Liqiu to bring some people to greet them and deliver some food.

Old Madam Ruan was very glad. She even asked Liqiu about Qiao Xuan, inquiring about how she had been over the years and how she was doing now.

Liqiu smiled and provided all the information she could.

Seeing Qiao Xuan bringing so many things, Ms. Ding, Ruan Erlang’s wife, felt guilty and cautiously asked if she could bring her daughter, Lijuan, to thank Qiao Xuan in person…

Of course, this was also a way for her to get closer to Qiao Xuan.

Qiao Xuan was pleasantly surprised by Liqiu’s words and nodded in agreement.

This was actually quite positive. It indicated that the Ruan family was thoughtful and quick-witted, not simply reserved due to their circumstances.

Qiao Xuan understood Shao Yunduan’s intention: he wanted her to have a reliable family. While she already had the Yuezheng family, having another supportive family like the Ruan family was beneficial.

Since the Ruan family was so eager, she decided to praise them.

The Ruan family members were delighted to receive the permission. If they hadn’t been restricted, Old Madam Ruan would have gone to greet Qiao Xuan herself, continually urging Ms. Ding and Lijuan.

Ms. Ding and Lijuan listened attentively. Initially reserved when they met Qiao Xuan, they gradually warmed up as she asked them about their family, the past few years, and the crops. Ms. Ding and Lijuan were both surprised and touched. They didn’t expect Madam Shao to be so knowledgeable and considerate, and their conversation with her became more fortable.

Though their visit was brief, they still felt nervous over time. Understanding this, Qiao Xuan, having other matters to attend to, did not insist they stay longer and suggested they return to talk with Old Madam Ruan.

Ms. Ding and her daughter agreed with what Qiao Xuan said.

Qiao Xuan and Shao Yunduan spoke about the Ruan family with smiles on their faces. Qiao Xuan felt that having such a maternal family was a positive development.

Shao Yunduan was also pleased that something good had e about. Otherwise, he would have been thoroughly annoyed by Shao Liulang’s constant presence and nagging.

Shao Liulang had fully exploited his status as a “cousin,” disregarding whether he was a nuisance to Shao Yunduan. He came and went incessantly, pestering Shao Yunduan whenever he had the chance.

Shao Yunduan was almost convinced that this behavior was deliberate. If anyone understood the situation so clearly, it had to be intentional.

Shao Yunduan wasn’t sure if he was trying to convince himself or if he was simply fed up with the situation.

He plained to Qiao Xuan about it daily. Hearing his wife fort him with a smile, he felt somewhat relieved.

Nevertheless, he remained annoyed and was curious to see how long Shao Liulang’s behavior would continue.
