Shao Yunduan asked Liqiu, Caiyue, and the others to select the maids and eunuchs and to check the people in the court. Both Qiao Xuan and Shao Yunduan were surprised to hear that the Fourth Prince was still there.

If these guards remained in the Qianqing Palace, they were likely loyal to the Fourth Prince. While Meng Wanfu was not afraid of them directly, he was wary of any hidden threats—such as someone shooting an arrow from the shadows.
If Shao Yunduan was to meet the Fourth Prince, these potential threats had to be dealt with first.
The Fourth Prince’s guards were incensed by Meng Wanfu’s rudeness.

“How dare you be rude to the Emperor!”
Shao Yunduan was not willing to risk his life or Qiao Xuan’s, so he responded coldly, “General Meng, General Yang, clear out the Qianqing Palace and eliminate anyone who resists!”
“Yes, Lord!”
Meng Wanfu and Yang Mu replied in unison. They signaled, and a wave of soldiers surged forward. Sharp arrows flew like a dense forest, surrounding the Qianqing Palace guards with an oppressive, silent killing intent.
The faces of the Qianqing Palace guards turned deathly pale, their hearts pounding wildly. Beads of sweat, the size of beans, dripped from their foreheads.
Meng Wanfu and the others were seasoned warriors, accustomed to the harsh realities of battle. Their weapons were unsheathed, and their presence exuded a lethal aura. How could these palace guards, accustomed to a life of luxury and rarely seeing real bat, hope to stand against them?
If they had not been willing to stand by their masters and face the powerful enemy, Meng Wanfu would have already ordered the arrows to be fired.
What was the point of keeping around useless enemies?
Meng Wanfu’s gaze cut across the group of guards like a sharp arrow. He said coldly, “Put down your weapons and retreat. Otherwise, you’ll die!”
No one moved.
Yang Mu sneered. “I’ll count to three before I start shooting. One… two… three!”
As soon as he finished speaking, a sword clattered to the ground, followed by more weapons falling. The guards, faces flushed with guilt and shame, lowered their heads and slowly retreated from the Qianqing Palace.
