With only fifteen minutes for the contest, it might be possible to make a full lap around the plaza by sprinting nonstop. But walking and searching for eggs at the sa ti? At best, that would cover half the circuit.

To handle the ti limit and the wide search area, Leon naturally chose to broaden his range, aiming to collect as many easily spotted eggs as possible.

After only a few steps, Leon spotted another egg under a shrub. As he picked it up, he noticed Vincent nearby.

“Hello, Mr. Leon.” The boy politely greeted him the mont their eyes t.

“Hey, Vincent. How many eggs have you found?” Leon replied, just as politely, curious about the boy’s haul.

After all, the kid had instantly hidden his basket behind his back. Without circling around him, there was no way to see what he’d collected.

“I can’t tell you. We’re rivals right now.” Vincent shook his head firmly.

“All right, then. Good luck.” Leon wasn’t about to bully a kid. After parting ways, he crossed the lawn toward the fence behind Jodi’s house.

Walking the fence line, Leon found two more eggs, then spotted a third beneath a streetlamp after crossing to the road behind Jodi’s yard.

Just as he was heading toward 2 Willow Lane to look for more eggs, Alex appeared from the opposite side, holding one in his hand. Clearly, Alex had already raided that area.

Without hesitation, Leon quickened his pace, heading straight to Evelyn’s little garden. Sure enough, under one of the flowerpots, he found two eggs hidden together.

Looking up, Leon noticed plenty of others searching nearby—so were tourists, others were locals. There was the blond guy, Sam—Vincent’s older brother—and Maru, who was partnered with Jas.

“Lots of people around here,” Leon muttered, moving on. Since this area was close to the plaza, the crowd made sense. Better to search sowhere less popular.

Like near the sewer drain or the graveyard.

Sure enough, those spots were practically deserted. Not even the contestants seed interested. Too far out, and not exactly pleasant.

But whoever hid the eggs clearly had a fondness for these places—Leon picked up nine eggs in total between the sewer cover and the graveyard.

Added to the seven he’d found earlier, his basket now held sixteen eggs.

It looked like a decent haul, but Leon had no idea how Abigail was doing. They hadn’t crossed paths all day. Just to be safe, he left the graveyard and followed the path toward the beach.

In the ga’s Egg Festival, all areas beyond the Pelican Town plaza were blocked off. But in real life, there was no way Lewis would fence in the visitors. He wanted them to enjoy sightseeing—whether it was the beach, Coal Forest, or the northern hills.

That got Leon wondering if the egg-hiding crew might have scattered so beyond town.

In the end, he decided against exploring further. If the whistle blew and he was too far to hear it, that would be a disaster.

Heading southeast, he grabbed every egg in sight. Finally, near Penny’s trailer, he spotted Abigail.

“How’s the haul?” he called, seeing her crouched under a bench, groping around.

“Not bad. How about you?” Abigail stood up, holding a fresh egg in her hand—clearly the one she’d just retrieved.

“Twenty-four.” Leon glanced at his half-full basket.

“So many?” Abigail’s eyes widened, imdiately peeking inside.

“I’ve only found eleven. You’ve got twice as many!”

“Do you actually want to win?” Leon asked dryly.

“Eleven is a lot! Last year, Jas and Vincent won with just fourteen between the two of them—and that was a team effort.” Abigail rolled her eyes. “Right now, you alone could crush everyone. If we combine ours, we’ve got it in the bag.”

Grinning, she slapped him on the back. “Nice work, Leon. After the event, dinner’s on .”

“Here, I’ll give you nineteen. We’re almost out of ti.” Leon began transferring eggs into her basket.

Abigail, however, muttered discontentedly, “Why not give all of them? We could set a record for the most eggs ever found.”

“Nope. I’m keeping five as insurance. I’m not getting stuck in that bunny mascot suit of sha.” Leon refused without hesitation.

“Fine, thirty is plenty.” Abigail didn’t push, happily taking the split. With thirty eggs in her basket, she strutted ahead.

“Co on, we can head back early. No one’s beating us. Hahaha! The Egg Festival’s top treasure hunter title still belongs to , Abigail!”

Leon silently raised his middle finger at her back. If he hadn’t agreed beforehand, her eleven-egg performance would’ve been crushed by him alone.

He had honestly thought Abigail was a strong competitor—surely she’d have at least twenty eggs. Instead, she barely had half that.

“You have a problem with that? Finding a great partner is a treasure-hunting skill too, you know,” Abigail said smugly, not at all bothered by his gesture.

“Yes, yes, sharp-eyed judge of talent. You’re amazing.” Leon waved her off, then reminded her, “Don’t forget our deal. The title’s yours, but the prize is mine. I don’t care about the rest, but I’m taking that hat.”
