Starting Check-in Reward: Tomson Riviera Chapter 113 - 112: Thinking, Longing (2)
anwhile, at the front of the auditorium.
The dance performance by the sophomore girls had set the entire venue ablaze with excitent, and the audience was eagerly anticipating the next act.
After all, if the first act was this captivating, the ones to follow couldn’t be too bad, right?
You had to hand it to the Modu University administration this year—they actually had so sense. They’d cut all the long, stinking, boring speeches from the beginning and jumped straight to the talent!
It made you want to complain about certain other schools where, at the start of any event, the leadership always had to get up and spout a bunch of nonsense.
But honestly, after so many years of schooling, had any of them not heard it all before?
You could probably pick a random freshman to go up there and give the sa speech. It was completely pointless.
Modu University’s approach this year, however, was a real crowd-pleaser among the students.
Following the sophomores’ dance number was a song called "Sorrow of Parting," perford by a first-year finance student nad Wei Xiao. It was a popular song from the last few years, and it had been all over platforms like TikTok back in the day.
This Wei Xiao had a very gentle vocal tone, and her emotional control was excellent. A faint trace of lancholy in her voice captivated many in the audience, drawing them into the song.
’Tonight is too long, my restless heart aches
Today I’m thinner than a withered leaf, a faded flower
I should be wandering the world, drinking a flask of rough wine’
Although most of the audience mbers were students—and from an older generation’s perspective, what deep feelings could a group of kids who haven’t even entered the workforce have?—the truth was, many of them had experiences no less profound than those of adults out in the world...
Even if they hadn’t lived through it themselves, the internet had exposed them to things that most people born in the ’80s and ’90s could never have encountered at the sa age. This song undoubtedly struck a chord in the hearts of many students.
The most important thing about a song is its ability to express emotion. If it can create an emotional resonance with the listener, that’s enough to call the performance a success...
As ti went on, one act after another took the stage. Overall, they were all quite good, but to be honest, they were all just a little bit lacking compared to the first two performances.
「Finally.」
The freshman welco party was reaching its final stage, and it was ti for Ye Ling and Ning Ruoxi’s act!
At that mont, every eye was fixed on the stage. The entire auditorium was silent. Not a single person spoke, and none of the usual restless chatter that signals the end of an event could be heard.
HUMMM!
Ye Ling gently plucked a guitar string, and the sound was like a pebble dropped into a still lake, sending ripples spreading outwards.
The next mont, a spotlight hit the center of the stage, illuminating Ye Ling and Ning Ruoxi.
The song they had prepared was titled "Thinking and Missing," which had been quite popular recently. As soon as the intro began, the audience recognized it.
’I miss the scent of you
Miss you saying "I love you"
Again and again, I just can’t forget
...
You are my precious oxygen
Without you, I can’t breathe
This is the distance I fear the most’
Instantly, the audience found themselves lost in the music.
Ning Ruoxi’s voice was beautiful—incredibly soft and gentle, like a clear mountain spring, suffusing everyone with a sense of healing.
More importantly, their harmony was flawless, as if they shared a single mind!
Ye Ling sat, casually strumming his guitar with a faint smile on his lips. Ning Ruoxi stood before him, singing, smiling...
Many of the students, and even so of the teachers, couldn’t help but smile.
’This song... it must be Ye Ling and Ning Ruoxi’s gift to each other!’
’I miss the scent of you’
’You are my precious oxygen!’
At that mont, everyone was hit by an overwhelming wave of public affection.
The crucial part was, even though they knew it was a huge display of PDA, they couldn’t stop themselves from watching and listening. The performance was just that perfect!
This perfection existed on two levels.
On one hand, there was the technical skill, the "hard power." Ye Ling now possessed a God-tier Guitar Skill, so his ability went without saying. Ning Ruoxi’s singing was also top-notch, creating a sweet and healing sensation.
On the other hand, and more importantly, Ye Ling and Ning Ruoxi had poured their genuine feelings into the song, perfectly conveying the sweet sensation of being deeply in love.
Or perhaps, they were simply showing the emotions that were already in their hearts.
In short, the song was beautiful, and the PDA was incredibly sweet.
A song only lasts four or five minutes, but after the music ended and the voices faded, the entire auditorium remained shrouded in silence.
Everyone was still imrsed in that perfect atmosphere, staring blankly at the pair on stage, their lips curled into irrepressible smiles.
anwhile, Ye Ling and Ning Ruoxi, also caught up in the song’s spell, didn’t imdiately leave the stage after the performance ended. Instead, they just stood there, gazing at each other, smiling...
Ye Ling suddenly set down his guitar, slowly rose to his feet, and walked over to Ning Ruoxi. He was about half a head taller than her.
As a result, Ning Ruoxi had to tilt her head up slightly to look at him.
Ye Ling reached out and gently pulled her into his arms.
Instantly, a wave of shrieks erupted from the crowd. The atmosphere hit its peak as every single person stared at the perfect couple on stage.
’They’re too perfect! They’re so well-matched! This is killing !’
Normally, the university’s higher-ups wouldn’t allow such a public display of affection, but perhaps even the teachers had been swept up in the mont. None of them stepped forward to spoil the mood.
On the contrary, many of the female teachers were watching the pair on stage with extrely suggestive gazes.
"Kiss, kiss, kiss!"
Suddenly, soone started a chant. Instantly, the entire audience began waving their light boards, shouting in unison at Ye Ling and Ning Ruoxi on stage.
A strange look crossed Ye Ling’s face. ’Have these guys gotten sick from all the PDA? Now they’re actually forcing to show off more?’
"How about we give them a kiss?"
Ye Ling looked at the girl in his arms and whispered, "After all, it looks like a lot of the teachers are watching with anticipation..."
"Well, then... then let’s kiss?"
Ning Ruoxi had clearly been moved by the song. Her eyes, full of tenderness and a hint of shyness, gazed up at Ye Ling as she spoke.
Looking at the girl before him and feeling the warmth radiating from her gaze, Ye Ling couldn’t help but tighten his embrace, pulling Ning Ruoxi’s delicate body closer.
Ning Ruoxi’s body was already soft, but now, it felt almost bonelessly supple. It gave Ye Ling the illusion that with just a little more pressure, she would lt right into him.
With a gentle look in his eyes, Ye Ling slowly lowered his head and pressed his lips against her lovely red ones.
