"Hey, old man, I brought you lunch."
Inside the Hokage’s office, Renya walked in right on ti, carrying a food box.
Senju Tobirama glanced at the clock on the wall and nodded in satisfaction.
The kid was punctual today — not a second late.
Renya placed the food box on the desk and lifted the lid. Instantly, a wave of fragrant steam escaped.
He took out a plate of grilled salmon, a plate of stir-fried beef, and a bowl of miso soup.
These were the sa dishes he had prepared for Madara and Hashirama earlier this morning, and he had simply made an extra serving to deliver here.
After all, experinting with new recipes was too troubleso.
Senju Tobirama set aside the docunt he hadn’t yet finished reviewing and fixed his gaze on the al.
The salmon was grilled to a perfect golden brown, its belly slightly bulging with juicy tenderness, giving off an irresistible aroma.
The beef slices were cut to uniform thickness, mixed with slivers of red and green peppers, all glazed in a sauce that glead invitingly.
Steam rose from the miso soup, tofu cubes floating inside, carrying the rich fragrance of soybeans.
Finally, he could enjoy lunch.
Senju Tobirama’s throat moved as he swallowed unconsciously. Taking the chopsticks and bowl Renya handed over, he reached out first for the grilled salmon.
His chopsticks landed on the belly of the fish.
The mont his teeth broke through the crisp outer layer, the fragrance of the fish instantly flooded his mouth.
A flicker of surprise flashed in Tobirama’s eyes, and his brows lifted slightly — clearly pleased with the taste.
The fish was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and the savory-sweet sauce perfectly enhanced its natural flavor.
Before he realized it, his chewing sped up.
This salmon really was fresh — no surprise, since he had personally picked the ingredients himself.
But then... Tobirama suddenly noticed sothing.
This salmon seed... bigger than the ones he bought yesterday.
He clearly rembered that the two salmon he brought ho last night weren’t this large...
Did he rember wrong?
Maybe it was too dark when he bought them, and he didn’t get a good look.
He convinced himself with that thought.
Senju Tobirama would never have guessed that the two salmon he bought yesterday morning had already been eaten by Uchiha Madara and Hashirama earlier today.
Even if Renya told him directly, he probably wouldn’t believe it.
...
Next ca the stir-fried beef.
The mont it touched his tongue, rich juices burst out in his mouth.
Tobirama’s eyes narrowed slightly — an unintentional sign of satisfaction.
He tapped the chopsticks lightly on the plate before picking up a second slice, then raised the bowl of miso soup and took a small sip.
Renya, seated across from him, had no interest in watching the old man eat. To pass the ti, he casually grabbed a file from the desk and flipped through it.
"Hm?"
His brow arched as sothing caught his attention.
[The war between Kirigakure and Iwagakure has reached a boiling point. Neither side shows any intention of stopping...]
Currently, this was the only ongoing war in the entire shinobi world. Gengetsu and Mū — neither of them were willing to surrender.
Looked like it was only a matter of ti before they destroyed each other.
That would be the best possible outco for Konoha — no drawbacks at all.
Mū’s sensory abilities were on par with Senju Tobirama’s, and he could also wield the Dust Release — an incredibly powerful technique.
Not only that, the man could even... turn into a shell?
Renya had no desire whatsoever to face an opponent like that.
Gengetsu wasn’t much better. His ability to turn invisible alone was already a headache.
You couldn’t even see him, and yet you’d be ambushed out of nowhere. How was anyone supposed to fight like that?
The two wiping each other out was absolutely ideal. Rivals like that should destroy each other — the world would be better off with both dead.
Otherwise, if they ever decided to invade the Land of Fire one day... that would be a real problem.
Senju Tobirama noticed Renya flipping through the docunts but said nothing, continuing to eat quietly.
This brat hadn’t even beco Hokage yet, and he was already eager to handle paperwork?
Heh.
Didn’t he say before he had zero interest in being Hokage?
Still, that was a good sign. A few years from now, Tobirama could retire and pass the title on to Renya.
He was confident the kid would make an excellent Hokage.
Setting his chopsticks down slowly, Tobirama decided to test him with a question.
"What’s your take on the war between Kirigakure and Iwagakure?"
Renya instantly put the file back on the desk and leaned back in his chair, his expression casual and indifferent.
"My take? Obviously, I’m just going to sit back and watch."
He was only skimming docunts out of boredom anyway.
Why was the old man suddenly quizzing him?
If that’s how it was going to be, then he wasn’t reading anymore.
Senju Tobirama: "..."
His hand clenched into a fist.
This brat... was definitely provoking him on purpose!
Calm down. Eat first.
He forced down his irritation and sensibly dropped the topic, picking up his chopsticks again.
Renya smirked faintly, grabbed another file, and went back to flipping through it.
As if he’d ever beco Hokage. Not a chance.
He’d said it before — only idiots beca Hokage.
Besides, he had just taken on another job recently — a rather... personal, door-to-door type of service — which made him even less inclined to beco Hokage.
That miserable position? Let Danzo have it.
Renya was certain Danzo would be overjoyed.
After all, the man dread day and night about becoming Hokage.
In fact, there was even that ti Renya cast a genjutsu on him, making him believe he’d already taken the seat... and Danzo had been so happy he didn’t even want to wake up.
Renya idly flipped through another file on the desk. The more he read, the more boring they beca.
If becoming Hokage ant doing this every day... he’d rather die.
The thought alone made him even more resistant to the idea of taking the position.
Thankfully, Tobirama soon finished his al. Renya imdiately began packing up the dishes.
Finally, he could leave. The Hokage’s office was way too dull.
"Kid, you seem eager to get out of here," Tobirama noted, catching Renya’s cheerful expression.
"Of course. This office is mind-numbing." Renya replied while tidying up.
Spending an entire day buried in docunts? Might as well be prison.
No — actually, prison might be better.
Sowhere deep in his subconscious, Renya had already equated "Hokage" with "incarceration."
Senju Tobirama’s temples throbbed as he fought back the urge to give the kid a good scolding.
This kid was getting more and more out of hand.
Renya ignored his expression, grabbed the food box, and headed straight for the door.
"Oh, right, old man." Renya paused as he reached the doorway, suddenly rembering Mito-san’s request.
"The Ninja Academy’s opening soon. Make sure Tsunade gets assigned to the best class."
When it ca to special treatnt and pulling strings, few could compare to Tsunade in Konoha.
"Got it," Tobirama replied casually, waving him off.
After Renya left, Tobirama sighed, stood up, and walked over to close the door.
"This kid never knocks when coming in, and now he leaves without closing the door behind him..."
Every single ti, Tobirama had to get up and close it himself.
And every ti he ntioned it, Renya would nod and promise to rember — only to repeat the sa thing the next day.
Eventually, Tobirama stopped bothering.
He sighed quietly, moved to the window, and stared off into the distance at Renya’s departing figure, lost in thought.
How on earth was he supposed to trick this kid into becoming Hokage?
