"You finally made it."
Before the door was fully opened, Wei Shishi’s voice ca from behind it.
Xu Ying and Li Wenxi entered the courtyard and saw Wei Shishi dressed in casual clothes.
"Where’s Wei Bai?" Xu Ying peeked past her.
There, was a classic two-story building with the door slightly ajar.
In the courtyard, four fully ard guards stood, looking sowhat out of place in the classical architecture.
Xu Ying couldn’t see anything different about these four guards; they seed to be ordinary people.
"Grandfather is feeling a little unwell; he’s encountered so issues," Wei Shishi said, glancing back. "Are you here to discuss resource developnt? You can talk to about it and let grandfather rest."
Unwell.
Earlier, he seed so youthful; he showed no signs of discomfort.
Xu Ying remained expressionless, "Let go in and see him. I’m an old friend of his, you know."
She glanced teasingly at Wei Shishi: "Older than you."
Wei Shishi imdiately frowned slightly, "An old friend would never... No ans no, grandfather needs rest."
"Let them in," ca Wei Bai’s sowhat weak voice from inside.
Wei Shishi took a deep breath, "Alright, you can co in."
Li Wenxi and Xu Ying exchanged a glance; they followed Wei Shishi, stepping over the threshold, and entered, arriving in front of a room, and pushed the door open.
Wei Bai was leaning against the headboard, sitting on the bed, looking indeed sowhat frail.
He no longer appeared as youthful as before, but with a weathered face, similar to the elderly man seen in the Skyscraper.
Xu Ying discreetly sized him up, then smirked, "This place of yours has quite the ambiance."
An elegant room, with windows appearing to be paper ones that could be pierced with a lick of spit, even an oil lamp and folding fan on the table.
"Haha, I like this style. It’s the style of the surface from a thousand years ago," Wei Bai laughed. "In our underground world, this style is almost unseen."
"Patriarch Wei, your health... What’s happened to you?" Li Wenxi asked, looking at Wei Bai with so concern.
"Ah, it’s a long story," Wei Bai sighed. "I don’t know who wants to harm ; hopefully, it isn’t the other two families."
"Harm you?" Xu Ying stepped quickly to the bedside, "What exactly have you experienced?"
"I’ll let Shishi explain it to you," Wei Bai’s brow was full of fatigue. "I want to rest. It’s been almost thirty hours since I last closed my eyes. At my age, I can’t compare with you young ones."
"Let’s leave now and let grandfather have a good sleep," Wei Shishi imdiately said.
"Oh... alright. Get so rest then."
The three left Wei Bai’s room.
"Let’s not stay here; it will disturb grandfather’s rest. Let’s go sowhere else," Wei Shishi looked at Xu Ying. "Aren’t you able to teleport? Let’s change the location."
...Hmm?
Teleport away?
Xu Ying imdiately understood what Wei Shishi ant.
This Wei Shishi, apparently, didn’t want to discuss matters here either.
"Let’s go to our place," Li Wenxi suggested.
"Your place?" Wei Shishi was puzzled.
Xu Ying promptly grabbed both of their hands and initiated teleportation.
In the next mont, the three appeared in the villa.
Wei Shishi stumbled and nearly fell.
Her eyes were filled with shock, her complexion slightly pale, and her breathing sowhat rapid.
"Careful!" Li Wenxi quickly held her, "The first ti teleporting can be disorienting."
"Is this... teleportation?" Wei Shishi looked at Xu Ying, her expression changing.
Xu Ying was also looking at her.
It seed that this Wei Shishi indeed had no issues.
Her reaction wasn’t feigned; it was a normal physiological response, typical for a first-ti teleportation.
If she had any issues, she couldn’t have not teleported before.
Xu Ying lightly stomped her foot, causing purple patterns to flicker on the villa’s floor.
"This is where we live. Now, no one can eavesdrop here, and all communication devices on you are useless," Xu Ying said. "You wanted us to take you to a place like this, right?"
Wei Shishi gave her a deep look, then directly said bluntly, "Yes. I really want to know, did you find anything after you managed to get rid of ?"
"You an the matter above the do, right?" Li Wenxi responded. "You haven’t told Wei Bai about it, have you?"
"Of course not," Wei Shishi shook her head, slightly frowning.
"...You’re suspicious of Wei Bai," Xu Ying looked at her and said.
Wei Shishi’s eye corners twitched slightly, then she slowly turned to look at Xu Ying, "Does grandfather really have any problems?"
It seed that was indeed the case.
"I can tell you about this, but before that, you must first tell what happened to Wei Bai after he returned from his disappearance and how he explained it to you,"
Xu Ying turned and sat on the sofa, speaking to Wei Shishi.
"...Alright."
