Wei Qingxue almost thought she was seeing things, couldn’t help but rub her eyes, but it was clearly not an illusion!
Wei Qingxue hurriedly parked the car and ran ho, wanting to know what was going on.
As soon as she entered the house, she saw Li Xueyan sitting on the sofa watching TV, Lin Fan busying around in the kitchen; the scene was surprisingly harmonious.
Wei Qingxue sat down next to Li Xueyan, reached out to feel her forehead, and murmured, "No fever?"
Li Xueyan responded with disdain, "What are you doing, child, acting all weird."
Wei Qingxue broke into a sweat, saying, "Mom, you’re the strange one! I just saw you on Lin Fan’s e-bike. What’s going on? Don’t scare !"
Li Xueyan said, "He’s my son-in-law, what’s strange about taking a ride on his bike?"
Wei Qingxue was startled, "Oh no, sothing must be wrong, you actually called him your son-in-law!"
Li Xueyan felt her daughter was mocking her and snapped, "Alright, don’t disturb my TV ti. If you’re free, go help out in the kitchen."
Wei Qingxue then went to the kitchen.
"Welco back, my dear wife," Lin Fan said with a smile.
Wei Qingxue moved closer to Lin Fan and asked seriously, "Lin Fan, what’s happening? Why did my mom take your bike today?"
"Probably because the neighbors praised her," Lin Fan explained and recounted the convenience store rescue incident.
Wei Qingxue suddenly realized, finally understanding, but couldn’t help feeling a bit disappointed; she thought her mom’s attitude toward Lin Fan had changed, and that’s why she rode his bike. Turns out it was just to save face in front of the neighbors.
Wei Qingxue sighed inwardly, feeling inexplicably disappointed. Why should she care? Lin Fan and she were only pretending to be married; they’d eventually divorce. Her mom’s attitude towards Lin Fan shouldn’t bother her.
Yet, she seed to care sowhat...
That evening, the family gathered for dinner.
Usually, the dining atmosphere was a bit tense because Li Xueyan didn’t like Lin Fan, would often remain silent, and give Lin Fan the cold shoulder.
But today, Li Xueyan seed relaxed and proactively asked about Wei Qingxue’s company matters.
Wei Qingxue had resolved the company’s financial problems and had resud her position as president.
"Qingxue, are there any vacant positions in the company?" Li Xueyan asked.
Wei Qingxue didn’t know why she was asking, so she casually replied, "Well, my assistant just resigned today, so that’s vacant. I was just planning to hire soone."
Li Xueyan was delighted and said, "I don’t think you need to hire anyone. Lin Fan, why don’t you stop being a delivery man and help out at the company instead."
What?
Lin Fan, Wei Qingxue, and Wei Dazong were all stunned; had Li Xueyan taken the wrong dication today, caring this much about Lin Fan?
Li Xueyan was most dissatisfied with Lin Fan’s occupation; being a delivery man was simply too disgraceful, not presentable at all, making her lose face among her neighbors.
That had been the main reason for her dislike of Lin Fan.
If Lin Fan could find a more respectable job, coupled with his actions of saving soone today, Li Xueyan might accept him.
"Mom, Lin Fan isn’t necessarily suited for work at the company. Besides, he’s doing well as a delivery man; we can’t just switch his job," Wei Qingxue said.
She thought her mom had accepted Lin Fan, but apparently, she still found him shaful and was troubling him, so she naturally had to speak up for Lin Fan.
Li Xueyan said, "Don’t say anything. Whether or not to change jobs, is his decision! Lin Fan, are you willing to help at the company?"
Everyone turned to Lin Fan, waiting for his answer.
Lin Fan said, "I don’t mind. If my dear wife needs , I’ll go."
Li Xueyan was pleased: "Alright then, resign and start work tomorrow, it’s decided."
Lin Fan smiled, "Not a problem."
Wei Qingxue and Wei Dazong exchanged a glance, not knowing what to say.
Later that night in the room.
Wei Qingxue said, "Lin Fan, you don’t need to accommodate mom. If you’re not willing to give up your delivery job, just keep doing it, I’ll explain things to mom."
Lin Fan smiled, "It’s okay, since mother-in-law doesn’t want to be a delivery man, I’ll stop for now."
"Alright," Wei Qingxue agreed reluctantly.
Early the next morning, Lin Fan got up and went with Wei Qingxue to Wei Corporation, officially starting his white-collar job.
As Lin Fan entered the company, he attracted everyone’s attention.
"Isn’t he the president’s husband, what’s he doing here?" Everyone started whispering.
"I heard he’s a live-in son-in-law."
"Suspect he got into the company through nepotism."
"Drop the ’suspect,’ he definitely did!"
The company employees whispered among themselves.
Wei Qingxue said, "Let introduce, Lin Fan, my new assistant. Many of you know, he’s also my husband, so I hope you treat him just like any other colleague, and get along well."
Everyone agreed hesitantly.
"Lin Fan is part of the president’s office, Sister He, you’ll be responsible for guiding him," Wei Qingxue turned to Lin Fan, "Sister He is the head of the president’s office, you’ll be working with her."
Lin Fan nodded.
Then a woman, nearly thirty, wearing glasses, approached Lin Fan, extended her hand with a smile, "I’m He Yu, everyone calls Sister He, Mr. Lin, pleased to et you."
Seeing her friendly attitude, Lin Fan shook her hand politely and said, "Hello, Sister He."
"Alright, everyone, let’s start working." With that, Wei Qingxue went back to her office.
As soon as Wei Qingxue left, everyone started gossiping again, laughter echoing around.
"The president’s live-in son-in-law, why is he dressed so poorly, didn’t the president give him money for clothes?"
"He’s definitely living off a woman, even this job he got through nepotism, embarrassing to be his wife’s assistant."
"No wonder people call him a useless person, disgracing fellow n..." He Yu scoffed openly, shooting a disdainful look at Lin Fan.
Lin Fan was a bit speechless. Even if others ignored it, He Yu had been quite nice in front of Wei Qingxue, yet turned around and changed her attitude.
"Sister He, where should I sit?" Lin Fan pretended not to hear everyone’s harsh remarks and asked with a smile.
He Yu pointed without enthusiasm, "Over there in the corner for now."
"Thank you," Lin Fan walked over, sat down; apart from a computer, the desk was empty, and He Yu ignored him, so he didn’t know what to do, just sat there idle.
After gossiping for a while, everyone went back to work, leaving Lin Fan alone.
Lin Fan sat idly for over an hour.
"Lin Fan, go get a cup of coffee," He Yu suddenly ca over and dropped a word.
"Okay," Lin Fan replied.
He thought it was for Wei Qingxue and went to make a cup of coffee, ready to deliver it to Wei Qingxue’s office.
"Stop!" He Yu interrupted him, "What are you doing?"
Lin Fan said, "Isn’t it for the president?"
"Who said it’s for the president, it’s for ," He Yu said coldly, snatching the coffee.
Everyone laughed at Lin Fan, "This guy isn’t very sharp."
Holding the coffee, He Yu didn’t drink it, but directly smashed the cup on the ground, breaking it with a splash.
"Ah!" He Yu deliberately exclaid.
