While Sumire’s attention was entirely captivated by those srizing cheeks, Shuichi started making subtle moves.
Until...
Knock, knock, knock—
The infirmary door was suddenly rapped on, and Naomi’s voice called out, "Class is about to start. Whoever’s in there, hurry up and co out."
Sumire snapped out of her trance, jolted by the realization of what she’d done. I actually reached out!
She was about to swat away the mischievous hand on her thigh when she noticed the student council president had frozen, as if startled stiff.
The hand gripping her thigh tightened sharply.
As the situation sank in, Sumire’s mind went blank, completely unable to process.
Thankfully, Naomi was considerate, only giving a reminder without imdiately unlocking the door or pressing further, giving those inside plenty of ti to prepare.
In a daze, Sumire stumbled back to the bed, changed into her regular clothes, and packed away her cosplay outfit.
Tsuki ended her prank, crawling out from under the desk.
Shuichi, anwhile, lounged casually in the office chair, showing no intention of getting up.
Once everything was ready, Sumire braced herself and opened the infirmary door, only to be t with Naomi’s knowing look.
"Don’t worry, I’ve given the reminder I needed to. I won’t say more..." Naomi began.
"Is that Haji-sensei?" Tsuki’s voice suddenly cut in from inside, interrupting her.
Naomi froze. The student council president was here too? Had she misread the situation? But Sumire’s expression and reaction—there was definitely sothing off!
Suspicious, she pushed past Sumire and entered the infirmary, spotting Shuichi sitting comfortably in her chair.
He greeted her naturally, "Haji-sensei, sorry for the intrusion. We ca to check on Nagase Sensei’s foot."
Naomi suppressed her doubts and nodded. "I see. I didn’t expect Nagase Sensei, who’s usually so strict, to be so popular with students."
"Sensei’s health affects our academic performance. As student council president, it’s my duty," Tsuki said calmly.
It was indeed sothing the president would do. Naomi glanced at her, finding no reason to doubt her, but her curiosity about what Sumire was hiding grew.
Though puzzled, Naomi didn’t pry further. It wasn’t her business, and digging too deep felt inappropriate.
"It’s getting late. You two should head back to class. I’ll take care of Nagase Sensei."
"Then we’ll leave her to you, Haji-sensei," Shuichi said, standing up and flashing Sumire a bright, innocent smile. "Nagase Sensei, make sure you cooperate with treatnt, or we’ll have to co back to supervise."
Co back?!
Sumire’s heart thudded heavily, her mind replaying the thrilling scenes from monts ago, turning her brain into a jumbled ss.
What she’d done... it wasn’t just touching a face. It was...
Ughhh! Sumire felt so ashad she wanted to cry. How could she, an exemplary teacher, do sothing like that?!
But she couldn’t claim to be coerced. Sumire didn’t shift bla dishonestly. She knew Shuichi was a punk, but he’d only tempted her with words. She was the one who’d taken it to that point.
The world was too dangerous, full of temptations. One wrong step, and her life had veered off the right path.
Mom, I want to go back ho...
Naomi watched Tsuki and Shuichi leave, then glanced at Sumire, who was staring blankly, clearly replaying so embarrassing mory in her head.
Without interrupting, Naomi sat at her desk. "ssing with my stuff again. I’ll have to remind that Chiba kid next ti."
She shook her head, then frowned slightly, sniffing the air.
Was it her imagination?
The strange scent was too faint to be sure. Naomi pushed down her suspicions.
...
After school, Tsuki had student council duties, and An had club activities, so Shuichi returned to the shopping street alone.
On the way, he got a call—there was a potential tenant.
His spirits lifted. It had been a while since the Ogawa sisters visited a couple of weeks ago, and he was almost rusty with tenant dealings. He wondered what kind of person this would be, though he doubted he’d get lucky like with the Ogawa ladies again. This wasn’t so risqué ani plot, after all.
Still, he held a sliver of hope.
After arranging the eting, Shuichi quickened his pace, arriving at the managent office five minutes earlier than usual.
The guest was lingering outside the flower shop’s window, seemingly captivated by the flowers.
Shuichi couldn’t help but size her up. Her figure was decent—nothing extraordinary but passable, roughly on par with Ichika.
Average height, long flowing hair, and her face was hard to judge since she wore a mask, revealing only a pair of alluring eyes.
She wore a white buttoned cardigan, a wine-red skirt, and long leather boots—a simple yet elegant look.
Shuichi approached and greeted her, "Excuse , are you Tsujimura-san?"
The masked woman’s eyes crinkled, clearly smiling. "Could it be Chiba-san? Oh? I didn’t expect you to be a student."
"I’m indeed the manager here, though I might not look the part," Shuichi said, not dodging the comnt and adding a self-deprecating quip.
"Sorry for the wait. Please follow ."
He led her to the managent office and, as usual, asked about her business plans and shop intentions.
Learning she wanted to open a small bookstore sounded promising. Shuichi imdiately started thinking about the potential buffs—Knowledge Acquisition ? That seed pretty great.
But she kept her mask on, so he couldn’t see her face or gauge if she’d be an exceptional tenant.
Noticing his gaze, Tsujimura’s eyes crinkled again, and she took off her mask. "It’s a bit rude to talk like this, I suppose. I didn’t put much effort into makeup today, so don’t mind, Chiba-san."
"Not at all. Make yourself comfortable, Tsujimura-san. I’m the one providing service here," Shuichi said, glancing at her while flipping through shop docunts.
He quickly realized it was a tactic. She’d clearly put effort into her makeup but played it off as nothing.
Her looks were quite good—not on the level of Sumire or the Ogawa ladies, let alone Ichika, but still impressive.
Sothing felt slightly off, though.
Tsujimura, smiling confidently, let him look, thinking to herself. Didn’t expect the manager to be a young guy like this. Should be easy to handle.
With her charm, a little flirtation would probably make him spill the lowest price without a fight.
Plus, he was pretty handso. Playing along for real didn’t seem like a bad deal.
With that in mind, she took the shop docunts he handed her, flipped through them, and pointed to one. "This one, ninety square ters total. How’s the rent calculated?"
Shuichi confird, "Is Tsujimura-san renting it yourself? Can we sign today?"
Her heart skipped a beat. So eager to sign? Sounds like there’s plenty of room to negotiate. Ti to step up my ga.
She flicked her hair, sending a waft of perfu his way, pursed her glossy lips, and batted her eyes. "That’s right. I was wondering... does Chiba-san offer any discounts on rent?"
Shuichi checked the system’s quote in his mind and froze.
"Chiba-san?" Tsujimura, thinking he was dazed by her, smirked triumphantly and waved her freshly manicured hand in front of him.
"Oh, sorry, got distracted," Shuichi said, snapping out of it, but his expression turned oddly intense as he kept studying her face.
"No worries," Tsujimura said, smiling knowingly. "So, about the rent..."
"Four hundred eighty thousand yen per month. How’s that?" Shuichi offered a polite, standard smile.
"Huh?" Tsujimura blinked, incredulous. "Here... four hundred eighty thousand?"
"Yes, you heard right. Four hundred eighty thousand yen per month," Shuichi repeated courteously.
Tsujimura wondered if he was quoting a high price to play hardball and then swoop in with a "favor." That’s probably it.
"Any chance for a little discount?" She asked, feigning warmth as she undid a button at her collar.
Shuichi didn’t bat an eye, maintaining his polite smile. "Four hundred eighty thousand per month. That price is non-negotiable. Please understand."
"..." Tsujimura stared at him, then giggled behind her hand, undoing another button. "Chiba-san, you’re quite greedy."
"I think there’s a misunderstanding. The price can’t be adjusted. If it’s not suitable, you’re welco to look elsewhere," Shuichi said, standing to see her out.
A few minutes later, after realizing he wasn’t playing hard to get and was genuinely firm on the price, Tsujimura left with a look like she’d seen a lunatic.
Four hundred eighty thousand yen in rent—a third higher than the area’s average! Only an idiot would rent here!
